Yom Kippur was Israel’s day of national covering. Passover redeemed the individual by blood; the tenth of Tishrei cleansed the people, the sanctuary, and the land. The high priest enters once with blood. One goat dies “for the LORD.” The other bears confessed sin into the wilderness. White linen, washed bodies, and afflicted souls mark a people made clean enough to stand before the King. That rite is a shadow of Messiah: High Priest, sin offering, and scapegoat in one Person, who entered the true sanctuary with His own blood and opened a new and living way.
Kippur is a shelter—the tent you enter and the owner who hides you. Christ is that Door. On the cross His arms are spread like wings: the hen gathering her chicks, the eagle bearing her young, the cherubim overshadowing the mercy seat and the Word. To abide under those wings is to abide in Him, in His Word, and in the marriage canopy. Isaiah’s chuppah over Zion, the apple of His eye, Psalm 91, and the Bride clothed in fine linen are one image. Atonement is not only a transaction. It is being drawn into the bosom of the Father, made family, knit together as the tabernacle was joined, and taught to humble oneself like a child. Atonement draws a person into the Father’s bosom and makes a family.
The day’s command was to afflict the soul— to humble oneself, points to the mind of Messiah: bow, take up the cross, and cover others as love covers sin. Our righteousness is filthy rags. Only His garments are clean. Every knee will bow and confess that salvation belongs to Him alone.
The Jubilee horn was sounded on that same day. Every fiftieth year liberty is proclaimed: debts fall, slaves go free, each one returns to inheritance and household. The blast is the voice of Christ—the shofar that raises the dead, gathers the outcasts, and leads the people home by the hand.
What Leviticus enacted once a year, Christ fulfilled once for all, and what He fulfilled He will finish when the great ram’s horn sounds, the dead in Him rise, and every captive returns to possession in the kingdom. Blessed are the people who know that joyful sound.

The Biblical feasts were designed to be shadow pictures of the Messiah (Colossians 2:17) who is the manifestation of God’s love (John 3:16). They were yearly rehearsals for God’s people to keep them walking in His cycles of righteousness. The feasts were designed to be outward signs of His Word to the world. The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us, He is the fulfillment/purpose of these sabbaths and feasts.
The Word is the character/name of God (Revelation 19:13; Matthew 12:18-21 – Isaiah 42:1-4; Revelation 14:1; 22:4; Deuteronomy 6:6-8), which is love (1 John 4:8). Built into the feasts/sabbaths is the will of God, the plan of salvation for mankind, not their condemnation (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4). The message of these feasts/holydays is God’s love, forgiveness and plan of redemption. They are not designed to portray righteousness of God’s people, they are meant to portray God’s righteousness which comes only through Christ Jesus. In other words, the feasts were not designed to make believers righteous. They were designed to be shadows of Christ, who alone is our righteousness.
Rom 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Again, the Biblical Feasts were shadow pictures which were designed to reveal Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:16-17; Hebrews 10:1-17). He is the Image of God (Hebrews 1:3; 2 Corinthians 4:4-6; Colossians 1:15-16) who is love (1 John 4:8). Therefore all of the feasts were designed to reveal the love of God. From the Spring feasts which reveal the sacrifice of the Lord to redeem mankind to the Fall feasts which reveal the future gathering of the redeemed. They are all about the love of God for mankind and despite of our wickedness, the offering of the path of reconciliation. It doesn’t come by our religious works (Ephesians 2:1-10) or our understanding of His will (1 Corinthians 2:16), it comes by our faith in the work of Christ (Romans 3:25-31; 8:3-3; 10:3-13; Colossians 2:16-17; Matthew 10:32-33; 1 Peter 1:21).
The theme of love is seen in the Feast of Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement in the reconciliation between man and God that comes through Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:18; Daniel 9:24; Romans 5:1, 10-11; Ephesians 2:16; Colossians 1:20-21; 1 John 2:2; 4:10), the Mediator of the New Covenant between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 8:6; 9:15; 12:24).
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
Ransom From Heaven
Jesus came to earth to give His life as a ransom for all (Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45; 1 Timothy 2:6).
This word in Greek is λύτρον ‘lutron’ which is speaking of an exchange given for another for the price of his redemption or ransom. This Greek word is used to translate the Hebrew word פדיון ‘pidyon’ which means redemption, but more literally the girding on of clothes by one who has been redeemed back to an original state. λύτρον ‘lutron’ is also used to translate the Hebrew word כפר ‘kopher’ which means atonement or more literally a protective covering placed over something or someone to cover debt or wrong-doing.
This is the essence of Yom Kippur, the covering and redemption of Messiah for the sins of mankind.
In ancient times, the first step of making a blood covenant with another was the exchange of one’s robe or coat with their covenant partner. This is the theme of Yom Kippur. Messiah took our garments of sinful flesh (Romans 6:6; Isaiah 53:4-5) that we might have His garments of salvation and righteousness (Isaiah 61:8-10; Romans 13:14; Galatians 3:27). That we might stand before God on judgment day, clean and spotless (Romans 5:2; 14:4; Ephesians 5:27).
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
It is through His actions and His actions only, that we can escape condemnation (Colossians 1:22, 28). As a result, we are given the ministry of reconciliation and not of condemnation (2 Corinthians 2:10-11; Ephesians 4:27). As He died for all, we should no longer judge others after the flesh but look upon them as the Lord sees them (2 Corinthians 5:14-21).

The reconciliation for iniquity prophesied by the Prophet Daniel (Daniel 9:24) comes forth through the New Covenant that was cut at Calvary (Colossians 2:14; Hebrews 9:26; 10:14).

The word for reconciliation used by Daniel is כפר ‘kaphar’ or atonement. In Greek, the word for reconciliation is καταλλαγή ‘katallage’ which is speaking of an exchange between two parties, very similar in nature to the concept of redemption mentioned earlier. Again, Messiah took our sins that we might have His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 1:30; Romans 3:21-26; 8:1-4).
He stands before God Almighty as a continual reminder of that fact, as the people He died for are continually being accused by the adversary, and sadly, by their fellow man (1 John 2:1-2; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:24-25; 9:24).
In that great Heavenly courtroom (Zechariah 3:1) there stands the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10-11), and the Defender (1 John 2:1-2; Romans 8:34; Psalm 109:31). If believers are no longer condemned because of the work of Messiah, why then do believers continue to condemn other believers? If He died for all (2 Corinthians 5:14-15), why then do believers condemn non-believers? Is the Hand of the Lord shortened that He cannot save them as well (Isaiah 50:2; 59:1)?
The Lord desires that all might come to salvation (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:1-6). If we are to have the mind of Messiah, we are to seek the salvation of mankind as opposed to their condemnation (Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Peter 4:1-19).
Messiah humbled Himself, taking up the cross as a service to others that they might not be condemned (Philippians 2:8).
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
The word for ‘humbled’ in Greek is ταπεινόω ‘tapeinoo’ which is used to translate the Hebrew word ענה ‘anah’ which means to afflict or humble oneself. This is the word used for the affliction of which believers are called to do on Yom Kippur (Leviticus 16:29-31, 23:27).
Believers are called to humble themselves (James 4:10) and follow in the footsteps of the Messiah by taking up their cross (Mark 8:34-37), not judging others (James 4:10-12; Luke 18:9-15) but seeking to defend them and cover their transgressions (Proverbs 10:12; 17:9; 1 Peter 4:1-2, 8).
Nobody can stand righteous before God with their own works (Romans 3:19, 23; Galatians 3:22).
Rom 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Gal 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Our righteousness are garments of filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).
Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
It is only the garments of Messiah that are clean and spotless (1 Peter 1:19; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 7:26; 1 John 3:5).
1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Heb 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
1Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
If then we can’t stand before the Lord by our works, why do we judge another because they don’t measure up to our standards of righteousness. It is only God that can make them stand or fall (Romans 5:2; 14:4).

Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Our judgment of them is in reality a judgment of Him (James 4:11-12).
Jas 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
Jas 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
As mentioned before, on Yom Kippur/the Day of Atonement, believers are called to ‘afflict’ their beings (Leviticus 16:29-31, 23:27). The Hebrew word used here is ענה ‘anah’ which literally means to humble oneself and be bowed down. The word is also translated as to give an answer (Daniel 2:20; 5:17).
Dan 2:20 Daniel answered {ענה ‘anah’} and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
Dan 5:17 Then Daniel answered {ענה ‘anah’} and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
ענה ‘anah’ comes from the root word ען ‘an’ which means to watch or look at something intently. The picture formed here points strongly to Yom Kippur and the judgment day where all will bow down before the King and give an answer or defense for their lives (Romans 14:10-13; 2 Corinthians 5:10).
None can save their own lives, we can only look towards the Messiah who was given to us as the provision for salvation (Isaiah 45:22-23). There is no room for boasting (Romans 2:23; 3:19, 27; 1 Corinthians 1:29-31). There is no place for condemning of others (Matthew 7:1; Luke 6:37; John 12:47; Romans 14:13; James 4:11; 5:9). There is only place for humbling oneself before the Lord (Philippians 2:10; Romans 14:10-11; Isaiah 45:23-25).
Yom Kippur – Under the Shadow of His Wings
The Hebrew word for כיפור ‘kippur,’ as in Yom Kippur, comes from the root word חף ‘chaph’ which means to cover.

חף ‘chaph’ – ‘one who enters a tent and is protected by the owner.’ A place of protection. One who is innocent, as in one whose actions are covered. These are incredible connections to the theme of Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement.
Christ is the Door that we enter in order to abide in His ‘House’ (John 10:7) it is through Him that we are covered/hidden. This is the definition of who the Israel of God is (Galatians 6:16)…His hidden ones (Psalm 83:3). It is by the covenant cut in Messiah (Daniel 9:26; Isaiah 42:6), by His sacrifice on the cross that we are covered (1 John 1:7).
On the cross, Messiah gathered all mankind unto Him under His outstretched Arms as a hen gathers her chicks (John 12:32; Matthew 23:37). Amazingly, the Hebrew word for this spreading forth of the wings of a hen to gather her chicks or an eagle gathering her chicks under her wings is רחף ‘rachaph’ which also comes form the root word חף ‘chaph.’
It is through His Outstretched Arms (wings) that Messiah is calling us (John 3:14; 12:32) and gathering us together as a Shepherd does His flock (John 10:14-16). This is how we enter the Door into the House, this is how we are declared innocent and pure in His eyes. This is how we become His friends and enter into His tents in an intimate relationship.
When one has an intimate relationship with another, they appear as a ‘little guy in the eye‘ or as the ‘apple of the eye.’
Deu 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
Deu 32:11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
One of the themes of Yom Kippur is the Wedding Supper (Revelation 3:4-5; 19:7-8). This is yet another connection to the Hebrew word חף ‘chaph’ as the word חופה ‘chupah,’ which means marriage canopy, comes from this root as well.
Abiding under the shadow of His wings and being in ‘marriage covenant’ with Him through Messiah is one and the same thing. The canopy as a covering is connected with being the ‘little guy in His Eye.’
Zec 2:8 For so says Jehovah of Hosts: He has sent Me after glory, to the nations who plundered you; for he who touches you touches the pupil of His eye.
Zec 2:5 And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, and I will be for glory in her midst, declares Jehovah.
Isa 4:2 In that day the Branch of Jehovah will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth for pride and for glory for the survivors of Israel.
Isa 4:3 And it shall be, he remaining in Zion, and he who is left in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, every one who is written among the living in Jerusalem;
Isa 4:4 when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and the blood of Jerusalem shall have been rinsed away from its midst by a spirit of judgment, and by a spirit of burning.
Isa 4:5 Then Jehovah will create a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night, over all the site of Mount Zion, and over her assemblies; for on all the glory will be a canopy (חופה ‘chuppah’).
Isa 4:6 And there shall be a booth for a shade from the heat, and for a refuge, and for a hiding place from storm and rain.
Under His wings = under His skirt. This is a term of intimacy between a man and His wife (Deuteronomy 22:30; Ruth 3:9; Ezekiel 16:8).
Abiding under the shadow of His wings again goes back to the imagery in the Temple of the Cherubim. Abiding in His Word = abiding under the shadow of His wings = abiding in Messiah (John 15) .
Cherubim overshadowed the ark of the covenant, where the Word was stored, with their wings…abiding under His wings=abiding in His Word/Jesus (Exodus 25:20). The Cherubim were those who guarded the Tree of Life. When we are abiding under the shadow of His wings we are entering back spiritually into the Garden.
Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great
high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Abiding in the Shadow of His wings means we are protected from adversity.
Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Psa 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
Psa 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Psa 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
Psa 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
The Hebrew word for salvation in Psalm 91:16 is ישועה ‘yeshuah’ from whence comes the name Yeshua or Jesus.
This intimate relationship of appearing as a little guy in the Eye of the Creator, and abiding under the shadow of His Wings is accomplished in the work of Messiah on the cross.
The Bosom, the Family and Gathering at the Cross
The word for father in Hebrew is associated with love, so too is the word mother {For more on this see: Shadows of Messiah – Etymology}. One of the Hebrew words for love is דד ‘dud/dad’ which means both love and breasts/bosom. Interestingly, the English word ‘baby’ comes from the Hebrew בבה ‘baba’ which is related to the word אבוב ‘aboob’ the root of which is אב which means father but also means a pipe, as in the breast of the mother whose milk flows to give sustenance to the baby. בבה ‘babah’ in Hebrew means the pupil, the apple of one’s eyes. As any parent has held their baby in their arms against their bosom they recognize this is the epitome of love and intimate relationship (apple of the eye/little guy in the eye).
The Hebrew word for family comes from משפחה ‘mispocha’ the same root as שפח ‘shapach’. שפח ‘shaphach’ is the source of the English word ‘crucifixion’ from whence all the family of the earth is gathered. The bosom, which represents the love of the family also links to the cross.
Messiah came from the bosom of the Father.
Joh 1:18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, that One declares Him.
He gathers and then carries in His bosom His people, linking to the crucifixion. It is through the work of Christ on the cross that mankind is brought into His family.
Isa 40:10 Behold, the Lord Jehovah will come with strength, and His arm rules for Him. Behold, His
reward is with Him, and His wage before Him.
Isa 40:11 He shall feed His flock like a shepherd; He shall gather lambs with His arm; and carry them in His bosom; those with young He will lead;

There are multiple words in Hebrew for love, all linking back to the bosom. The most common is אהב ‘ahav’ which has the meaning of a gift and the expressions and actions of one towards the family. The pictograph meaning displays the gift of the Father to mankind of His only begotten Son. Again linking the bosom, the family and the crucifixion.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Pictograph meaning of Love
The first and last letters spell out the word for Father (אב ‘ab’) and the middle letter is a picture of a man with outstretched arms. The Love of the Father is revealed through the Messiah on the tree, gathering all mankind back to their Creator.
Another word for love is חשק ‘chashaq’ which has the meaning of being knit together in love. חשק ‘chashaq’ comes from the root word חש ‘chash’ which points to the bosom, the breastplate in Hebrew is חשן ‘choshen.’ חשק ‘chashaq’ is the word used in reference to the joining together of the Tabernacle, which is a shadow picture of the body of Messiah. It is no surprise that this joining together involved nails, just as in the nails used in the crucifixion (Exodus 38:17, 28; Deuteronomy 7:7; Colossians 2:2, 19; Ephesians 4:15-16).

חק is the root of חקק ‘chaqaq’ and חקה ‘chaqah’ which means to inscribe a decree or custom. It is used in reference to the Torah. It is no surprise that the New Covenant, cut at Calvary is associated with the inscribing of the Word on our hearts which is contained in our bosoms (Jeremiah 31:31).

The feasts/appointed times, at which the people of God gathered, are linked to this word חוק ‘choq.’

The English word hug traces back to the Hebrew word חג ‘chag’ which means feast.
The feasts revolved around the gathering together of the people to the Tabernacle or tent. The Tabernacle itself was called the אהל מועד ‘ohel mo’ed’ which means tent of meeting/gathering or tabernacle of congregation. מועד ‘moed’ comes from עד which means to see the door, as in meeting as the door of the Tabernacle.
There are two more words in Hebrew which are translated as bosom. It is חצן ‘chatsan’ which comes from חץ ‘chets’ which literally means a tent wall, as in an enclosing. Finally, the word צלחת ‘tsalachat’ which also means a bowl, as in the bowls used in the Tabernacle. צלחת ‘tsalachat’ comes from צלח ‘tselah’ which traces back further to צל ‘tsel’ which means a shadow…as under the shadow of His wings, the little guy in His Eye.
Recall that the word in Hebrew for pupil is בבה ‘babah’ which is the source of the English word ‘baby.’ Interestingly, the English word ‘shade’ comes from the Hebrew word שד ‘shad’ which means the breast/bosom. שד ‘shad’ is the root of the word שדי ‘shaddai’ which is translated as ‘the Almighty.’
שד ‘shad’ literally means to return to the door, again linking with the feasts and the Tabernacle mentioned above.
Finally, the word דוד ‘dod’ means love. דד ‘Dod’ literally means the breasts. The letter ‘dalet’ is the picture of a door, or flap of a tent which opens the way inside. The tabernacle consisted of two doors/veils which דד displays. What is the veil of the Tabernacle a picture of? The body/flesh of Messiah.
Heb 10:20 which He consecrated for us, a new and living way through the veil; that is, His flesh;
The above portion of Scripture is in context of the New Covenant which was cut at Calvary where Messiah gathered mankind into His bosom (Isaiah 40:11; Psalm 89:50).
This is the type of intimate relationship God wants to have with mankind. As a Father or mother holding their children in their bosoms. Christ declares that we must be humble as children to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. One of the commandments associated with Yom Kippur is ‘afflicting’ one’s being(Leviticus 16:29-31, 23:27). This word for afflict in Hebrew is ענה ‘anah’ which literally means to humble oneself…
Mat 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Yom Kippur – Jubilee
Lev 25:9 And you shall let a ram’s horn resound, a signal in the seventh month, in the tenth of the month; in the day of atonement, let a ram’s horn pass throughout all your land;
Lev 25:10 and you shall make the fiftieth year holy, one year. And you shall proclaim liberty in the land to those living in it; it shall be a jubilee to you. And you shall return every man to his possession; yea, you shall turn back each to his family.
The Jubilee occurred at Yom Kippur when the sins of the people were atoned for. This is the true definition of freedom/liberty.
Psa 89:15 Blessed is the people knowing the joyful sound (‘teruah’); O Jehovah, they shall walk in the light of Your face.
The Light of His Face is Messiah. Jesus is His פנים ‘paniym’ (presence, face)
Psa 42:5 O my soul, why are you cast down and moan within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet thank Him for the salvation of His presence {Hebrew ישועות פניו ‘yeshuot panahv’}.
Psa 44:3 For they did not inherit the land with their own sword; yea, their own arm did not save them. But it was Your right hand (Messiah- Exodus 15) and Your arm (Messiah Isaiah 53) and the light of Your face, because You favored them.
Interestingly the arm and hand are in the Fibonacci pattern, more on this as the study progresses.
What is the joyful sound? The sound of the Shofar & Trumpets.
Psa 98:5 Sing praise to Jehovah with the lyre; with the lyre and the voice of a song.
Psa 98:6 With trumpets and the sound of a horn, make a joyful noise before Jehovah the King.
The sound of the trumpets = the sound of His Word.
Num 10:2 Make two trumpets of silver for yourself. You shall make them of hammered work, and they shall be to you for the calling of the congregation, and for causing the camps to pull up stakes.
Psa 12:6 The Words of Jehovah are pure Words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.
Free in Christ

The Hebrew word for Jubilee is literally speaking of the sound of a shofar/trumpet.

The pictograph meaning of יובל ‘yobel’ is to be taken by the hand and being led back to the house to be established there. This is why the return of the Messiah is accompanied by the blowing of the Trumpets (1Thessalonians 4:16; 1 Corinthians 15:52).
The Shofar is likened unto the Voice of Messiah.

The Voice of the Shepherd

The universe is proclaiming the Gospel. Paul equates the heavens with the Word/Gospel

The Shofar = the Voice of Jesus{Revelation 1:10}

Back to Romans 10…
Verse 18 of Romans 10 points back to Psalm 19 where we see that the firmament declares His handiwork. Our ears were made after the ‘God’s pattern/Fibonacci pattern to hear the words of heaven/the firmament which based upon that same pattern. Interestingly, verse 16 above refers back to Isaiah 53. Isaiah 53 is about the Messiah who suffers for the sins of His people. How is the Messiah described in Isaiah 53? As the arm of the Lord.
Isa 53:1 Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of Jehovah revealed?

What is His handiwork? The Heavens…the Word.
Psa 8:3 When I look upon Your heavens, the work of Your fingers: the moon and the stars which You have fixed;
Exo 31:18 And when He finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave to Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.
The Finger also follows the Fibonacci pattern

And to further hammer (raqiya) home the point, the foot is also in the Fibonacci pattern.

Why is this significant? As seen above, the throne of God (Heaven) and His footstool (earth) are connected by the Temple as seen in Ezekiel 43:7. The Temple was designed as a perfect representation of the human body, as well as a perfect picture of the Messiah.
Jubilee & 50
The Gospel is connected with flesh. Where is the first reference to flesh? The union of Adam and Eve…a picture of Jesus and His Bride becoming one is the fulfillment of the Good News.
Gen 2:21 And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept. And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh underneath.
Gen 2:22 And Jehovah God formed the rib which He had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.
Gen 2:23 And the man said, This now at last is bone from my bones, and flesh from my flesh. For this shall be called Woman, because this has been taken out of man.
Gen 2:24 Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall become one flesh
Eph 5:30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.
Eph 5:31 “For this, a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.” Gen. 2:24
Eph 5:32 The mystery is great, but I speak as to Christ and as to the assembly.
The rib of Adam from whence his bride came out is linked to the number 5 which connects to the 5th day of creation and life.
The number 5 in Hebrew is חמש ‘chamesh.’ חמש ‘chamesh’ is used to translate multiple terms in Hebrew. It is used for the number five/fifty, the hand, to be armed and the side of the body (fifth rib).

Messiah was wounded in the side (‘the fifth rib’).
Joh 19:34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a lance, and at once blood and water came out.
Adam’s bride came forth from his rib/side (Genesis 2:22) which is a picture of Messiah’s bride ‘coming forth’ when He offered Himself as an atonement to bring us back to God. Interestingly, the year of Jubilee, which occurs every 50 (chamashim) years (Leviticus 25:10-13) began on the Day of Atonement. The great trumpet (Isaiah 27:13) will be blown and those resurrected in the 1st resurrection will receive their inheritance in the land. This is interesting because the shofar is in the Fibonacci sequence which the pattern the Most High uses in His creation of life. The Fibonacci sequence is encoded with the number 5.
Our ears are based upon the Fibonacci pattern:


The Voice of the Most High is in the Fibonacci spiral so He made our ears in that same ratio. We were designed to hear His Voice and walk in freedom with Him. In the beginning Adam walked freely in the Garden of Eden hearing His Voice (Genesis 3:8). Adam was naked (Genesis 3:7). Nakedness is one of the Hebrew words for free (Exodus 32:25).
Yom Kippur
The Day Atonement is the day when the nation of Israel (as a whole) was cleansed of their sins. Passover is the picture of individual redemption, Yom Kippur national redemption. The year of Jubilee (when everyone returned to their land) began on the Day of Atonement. This is a picture of the great trumpet (Isaiah 27:13) that is blown when those resurrected in the 1st resurrection will receive their inheritance in the land with the Messiah. The Day of Atonement is a shadow picture of the Wedding Feast of the Lamb, when we are clothed in white garments and then enter into the promised land with the Bridegroom when His feet step down on the Mt. of Olives.
Jer 33:7 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. (End of the exile, returning to the Land)
Jer 33:8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity which they have sinned against Me; and I will pardon all their iniquities which they have sinned against Me, and which they have rebelled against Me. (Cleansing/atonement at the same time)
Jer 50:19 And I will again bring Israel to his home, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied on Mount Ephraim and Gilead.
Jer 50:20 In those days, and at that time, states Jehovah, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and it is not; and the sins of Judah, and they will not be found; for I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.
2nd Coming
Yom Kippur is a picture of the 2nd coming of the Messiah.
Yom Kippur was an atonement for the golden calf according to Jewish tradition.
On the 6th of Sivan (2nd month) the 10 Commandments were given, on the 7th Moses ascended the mountain and remained 40 days and nights. On the 40th day he descended on the 17th of Tammuz (4th month) and found Israel sinning with the golden calf and he broke the tablets. Moses ascended back up the mountain on the 18th of Tammuz and remained another 40 days and nights. (Deu 10:10) He descended on the 28th of Av (5th month)-hewed the 2nd set of tablets and ascended Sinai a 3rd time. He descended on the 10th of Tishrei (7th month)-Yom Kippur. It was then that Moses commanded Israel to build the Tabernacle so that the Lord could dwell in their midst. This points to Sukkot which follows Yom Kippur.
Rashi comments on Exodus 33:11
“and he would return to the camp: After He spoke with him, Moses would return to the camp and teach the elders what he had learned. Moses conducted himself in this way from Yom Kippur until the Mishkan was erected, but no more [than that]. For on the seventeenth of Tammuz the tablets were broken, and on the eighteenth he burned the calf and judged the sinners, and on the nineteenth he went up [Mount Sinai], as it is said: “It came to pass on the next day that Moses said to the people, etc.” (Exod. 32:30). He spent forty days there and begged for mercy, as it is said: “And I cast myself down before the Lord, etc.” (Deut. 9:18). On Rosh Chodesh Elul it was said to him, “And in the morning you shall ascend Mount Sinai” (Exod. 34:2) to receive the second tablets, and he spent forty days there, as it is said concerning them, “And I remained upon the mountain just as the first days” (Deut. 10:10). Just as the first ones [days] were with good will [from the seventh of Sivan to the seventeenth of Tammuz], so were the last ones [days] with good will. The Jubilee, Yom Kippur & the Second coming
Lev 25:8 And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
Lev 25:9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
Lev 25:10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
Lev 25:11 A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.

Afflicting the soul
Lev 23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict* your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
*Afflict comes from the Hebrew word ענה, the root being ענ , which means to watch intently inasmuch that a furrow forms between the eyes.


It is traditional in Judaism to abstain from food, drink, washing, anointing body, shoes, marital relations (all bodily pleasures)

Justin Martyr in his Dialogue with Trypho connects the two goats offered during Yom Kippur to the two advents of Christ. The first in which the priests sent Him away as a scapegoat and put Him to death; the second in which He will be recognized.
“And that it was declared by symbol, even in the time of Moses, that there would be two advents of this Christ, as I have mentioned previously, [is manifest] from the symbol of the goats presented for sacrifice during the fast.” (Justin Martyr – Dialogue with Trypho 111)
Custom of wearing white on Yom Kippur
White garments=forgiveness of sins
Lev 13:17 And the priest shall see him: and, behold, if the plague be turned into white; then the priest shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague: he is clean.
Ecc 9:8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Psa 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
White garments are symbolic of purity and righteousness

High priest ceremony on Yom Kippur

Cleansed from sin, then filled with the Spirit
Psa 51:6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden parts You teach me wisdom.

The Prophets speak of a time when God will cause us to return to the land of Israel (Jubilee) and will cleanse us from all our iniquities (Day of Atonement). This will be the ultimate fulfillment of the New Covenant/Marriage covenant.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that I will cut a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,
Jer 31:32 not according to the covenant that I cut with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt (which covenant of Mine they broke, although I was a husband to them, says Jehovah).
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will cut with the house of Israel: After those days, declares Jehovah, I will put My Law in their inward parts, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall no longer each man teach his neighbor, and each man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah. For they shall all know Me, from the least of them even to the greatest of them, declares Jehovah. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more.
Jer 32:37 Behold, I will gather them out of all the lands, there where I have driven them in My anger, and in My fury, and in great indignation. And I will bring them again to this place, and I will cause them to live in safety.
Jer 32:38 And they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
Jer 32:39 And I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me all the days, for good to them and to their sons after them.
Jer 32:40 And I will cut an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do good to them. But I will put My fear in their heart, that they shall not depart from Me.
Jer 32:41 And I will rejoice over them, to do good to them; and I will truly plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.
When does the Lord rejoice over us?

Isa 62:5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you. And as a bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so your God shall rejoice over you.

We are cleansed by the Word so that we can be without blemish at the Wedding Supper

The blood of Jesus (the Word) cleanses us from all iniquity

On Yom Kippur, the High Priest had to offer sacrifices for Himself and the people. Our High Priest Jesus is without sin, but can have compassion on us because He was tempted with sin also.

Azazel
Lev 16:10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
Lev 16:20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
Lev 16:21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
Lev 16:22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
Jesus took away our sins and suffered outside the camp
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Heb 13:11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
Heb 13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
The Church fathers connected the two goats to Christ.
Epistle of Barnabas
How, then, ran the commandment? Give your attention. Take two goats of goodly aspect, and similar to each other, and offer them. And let the priest take one as a burnt-offering for sins. And what should they do with the other? “Accursed,” says He, “is the one.” Mark how the type of Jesus now comes out. “And all of you spit upon it, and pierce it, and encircle its head with scarlet wool, and thus let it be driven into the wilderness.” And when all this has been done, he who bears the goat brings it into the desert, and takes the wool off from it, and places that upon a shrub which is called Rachia… Of this kind of shrub alone the fruits are sweet.Why then, again, is this? Give good heed. [You see] one upon the altar, and the other accursed; and why [do you behold] the one that is accursed crowned? Because they shall see Him then in that day having a scarlet robe about his body down to his feet; and they shall say, “Is not this He whom we once despised, and pierced, and mocked, and crucified? Truly this is He who then declared Himself to be the Son of God.” For how like is He to Him! With a view to this, [He required] the goats to be of goodly aspect, and similar, that, when they see Him then coming, they may be amazed by the likeness of the goat. (Epistle of Barnabas 7.6–11)
Tertullian saw the two goats prefiguring Christ. The one bound with scarlet, cursed, spat upon, and driven out bears “all the signs of the Lord’s own passion.” The other, offered for sins, points to His later appearance when the priests of the spiritual temple enjoy His grace.
“If I may offer, moreover, an interpretation of the two goats which were presented on “the great day of atonement,” do they not also figure the two natures of Christ? They were of like size, and very similar in appearance, owing to the Lord’s identity of aspect; because He is not to come in any other form, having to be recognised by those by whom He was also wounded and pierced. One of these goats was bound with scarlet, and driven by the people out of the camp into the wilderness, amid cursing, and spitting, and pulling, and piercing, being thus marked with all the signs of the Lord’s own passion; while the other, by being offered up for sins, and given to the priests of the temple for meat, afforded proofs of His second appearance, when (after all sins have been expiated) the priests of the spiritual temple, that is, the church, are to enjoy the flesh, as it were, of the Lord’s own grace, whilst the residue go away from salvation without tasting it.” (Tertullian – Against Marcion 3.7)
“So, again, I will make an interpretation of the two goats which were habitually offered on the fast-day. Do not they, too, point to each successive stage in the character of the Christ who is already come? A pair, on the one hand, and consimilar (they were), because of the identity of the Lord’s general appearance, inasmuch as He is not to come in some other form, seeing that He has to be recognised by those by whom He was once hurt. But the one of them, begirt with scarlet, amid cursing and universal spitting, and tearing, and piercing, was cast away by the People outside the city into perdition, marked with manifest tokens of Christ’s passion; who, after being begirt with scarlet garment, and subjected to universal spitting, and afflicted with all contumelies, was crucified outside the city. The other, however, offered for sins, and given as food to the priests merely of the temple, gave signal evidences of the second appearance; in so far as, after the expiation of all sins, the priests of the spiritual temple, that is, of the church, were to enjoy a spiritual public distribution (as it were) of the Lord’s grace, while all others are fasting from salvation.” (Tertullian – Against the Jews 14)
Azazel could also be a picture of the adversary.
Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel coming down out of Heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain on his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold of the dragon, the old serpent who is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 and threw him into the abyss, and shut him up, and sealed over him, that he should not still lead astray the nations, until the thousand years are fulfilled. And after these things, he must be set loose a little time.
This connects back to the days of Noah. Azazel was one of the fallen angels who led mankind astray before the Flood
“Rabbi Jose says, following a tradition, that these [Nephilim] were Uzza and Azazel, whom, God deprived of their supernal sanctity. How, it may be asked, can they exist in this world? Rabbi Hiya answers, that they were of a class of spirits referred to in the words, ‘and birds which fly on the earth’ (Gen 1:20), and these, as we have said, appear to men in the form of human beings. If it is asked, how can they transform themselves? The answer is, that they do, in fact, transform themselves into all kinds of shapes, because when they come down from heaven they become as concrete as air and take human shape. These are Uzza and Azazel, who rebelled in heaven, and were cast down by God, and became corporeal on the earth and remained on it, not being able to divest themselves of their earthly form. Subsequently, they went astray after women, and up to this day they exist and teach men the arts of magic. They begat children whom they called Anakim (giants), while the Nephilim themselves were called ‘sons of God’” (Zohar, vol. 1, p. 186).
Azazel was one of the angels who taught mankind to sin
Enoc 8:1 Moreover Azazyel taught men to make swords, knives, shields, breastplates, the fabrication of mirrors, and the workmanship of bracelets and ornaments, the use of paint, the beautifying of the eyebrows, the use of stones of every valuable and select kind, and all sorts of dyes, so that the world became altered.
Enoch 9:5 You have seen what Azazyel has done, how he has taught every species of iniquity upon earth, and has disclosed to the world all the secret things which are done in the heavens.
Azazel was bound and cast into darkness with the entire crime of those days ascribed to him
Enoch 10:6 Again the Lord said to Raphael, Bind Azazyel hand and foot; cast him into darkness; and opening the desert which is in Dudael, cast him in there.
7 Throw upon him hurled and pointed stones, covering him with darkness;
8 There shall he remain for ever; cover his face, that he may not see the light.
9 And in the great day of judgment let him be cast into the fire.
10 Restore the earth, which the angels have corrupted; and announce life to it, that I may revive it.
11 All the sons of men shall not perish in consequence of every secret, by which the Watchers have destroyed, and which they have taught, their offspring.
12 All the earth has been corrupted by the effects of the teaching of Azazyel. To him therefore ascribe the whole crime.
This is an interesting connection to the end of days. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the return of the Son of Man. The fall feasts are a picture of Messiah’s 2nd coming and the events that are associated with it. Yom Teruah is a picture of the resurrection and gathering unto Messiah in the clouds. In the days of Noah, Noah and his family were gathered into the ark and rode upon the waters above the mountains…ie the clouds. The Flood was sent upon the wicked to destroy them just as in Revelation 19 the fowls shall feed on the flesh of the wicked. Azazel was bound in darkness…Satan will be bound for a thousand years. Noah came out of the ark to a renewed earth…so will Messiah’s people etc…

• He [the high priest] bound a thread of crimson wool on the head of the he‑goat which was to be sent away, and [meantime] he placed it [at the gate] whence it was to be sent away; and the he‑goat that was to be slaughtered, at the place of the slaughtering, he came to his bullock a second time, pressed his two hands upon it and made confession. And thus he would say: O Lord, I have dealt wrongfully, I have transgressed, I have sinned before thee, I and my house, and the children of Aaron, thy holy people, O Lord, pray forgive the wrongdoings, the transgression, and the sins, which I have committed, transgressed, and sinned before thee, I and my house, and the children of Aaron, your holy people. As it is written in the Torah of Moses, your servant: for on this day atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all the sins shall you be clean before the Lord. And they responded: Blessed be the name of his glorious kingdom for ever and
One of the customs of Yom Kippur is that a crimson sash was tied around the horns of the goat labeled, ‘To Azazel’. Why was a crimson sash used? It is explained in the Talmud in Shabbat 86a that it is based upon Isaiah / Yeshayahu 1:18 which is written:
Isa 1:18 Come now and let us reason together, says Jehovah: Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as the crimson, they shall be like wool.
In the Talmud it says:
•How do we know that a crimson‑coloured strap is tied to the head of the goat that is sent [to ‘azaz’el]? because it is said, If your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow (Shabbat 86a)
•The Talmud describes how the goat led into the wilderness was cast off a cliff as it says:
•What did he do? He divided the thread of crimson wool and tied one half to the rock, the other half between its horns and pushed it from behind. And it went rolling down and before it had reached half its way down hill it was dashed to pieces (Yoma 67a)
Another custom is that a crimson wool thread was tied to the entrance of the Ulam at the Temple. It was considered a sign that the God of Israel had forgiven the sins of the nation of Israel if the crimson wool thread turned white after the goat labeled, ‘Azazel’ was cast off a cliff into the wilderness.
In the Talmud Yoma 67a, it says:
•Our Rabbis taught: In the beginning they would tie the thread of crimson wool on the entrance of the Ulam (The Hall leading to the interior of the Temple) without: if it became white they rejoiced; if it did not become white, they were sad and ashamed. Thereupon they arranged to tie it to the entrance of the Ulam within. But they were still peeping through and if it became white, they rejoiced, whereas, if it did not become white, they grew sad and ashamed. Thereupon they arranged to tie one half to the rock and the other half between its horns.
It is recorded in the Talmud that 40 years prior to the destruction of the Temple in 70 C.E., the crimson wool thread at the Temple did not turn white. In the Talmud it says:
•Our Rabbis taught: During the last forty years before the destruction of the Temple the lot [‘For the Lord’] did not come up in the right hand; nor did the crimson‑coloured strap become white … (Yoma 39a)
Subtract 40 years from the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD and you come to 30 AD, the year that Messiah was crucified and resurrected.

The rabbis taught: Forty years before the Temple was destroyed, the lot never came into the right hand, the red wool did not become white, the western light did not burn, and the gates of the Temple opened of themselves, till the time that R. Johanan b. Zakkai rebuked them, saying: “Temple, Temple, why alarmest thou us? We know that thou art destined to be destroyed. For of thee hath prophesied Zechariah ben Iddo [Zech. xi. 1]: ‘Open thy doors, O Lebanon, and the fire shall eat thy cedars.’”
Jubilee
Lev 25:8 And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
Lev 25:9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
Lev 25:10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
Lev 25:11 A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
Lev 25:12 For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.
Lev 25:13 In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.
Gathered back to the Land, our sins covered
Psa 85:1 To the chief musician. A Psalm for the sons of Korah. O Jehovah, You have been gracious to Your land; You have turned back the captivity of Jacob.
Psa 85:2 You have taken away the iniquity of Your people; You covered all of their sins. Selah.
This occurs after the resurrection
Psa 85:6 Will You give us life anew, so that Your people may rejoice in You?
Jer 50:19 And I will again bring Israel to his home, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied on Mount Ephraim and Gilead.
Jer 50:20 In those days, and at that time, states Jehovah, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and it is not; and the sins of Judah, and they will not be found; for I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.
The Marriage Supper
At the ‘midnight cry’ that Matthew 25 and the parable of the 10 virgins alludes to, we are gathered together to our bridegroom. This is what Yom Teruah points to. In between Yom Teruah and Yom Kippur are 10 days, known as the 10 days of Awe. This is the wrath of God that is poured out upon the wicked. Yom Kippur is a picture of the wedding supper where we will be with the Messiah while the fowls are feeding upon the carcasses of the wicked. We will be dressed in white and will be taken to inherit the Land with our King and Husband. During Temple times, this was the only day that the High Priest could go into the Holy of Holies. This is a picture of the wedding chamber where the bridegroom and bride meet face to face. Why are we commanded to afflict ourselves on Yom Kippur? Because Messiah said that we fast when the bridegroom is away from us (Matthew 9:15), when we are brought back to Him we will feast at the wedding supper.
Hos 2:16 And at that day, says Jehovah, you shall call Me, My husband; and you shall no more call Me, My Baal.
Hos 2:17 For I will take away the names of the Baals out of her mouth; and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
Hos 2:18 And in that day I will cut a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and the creepers of the ground. And I will break the bow and the sword, and the battle out of the earth, and I will make them to lie down safely.
Hos 2:19 And I will betroth you to Me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in mercy, and in compassions.
Hos 2:20 I will even betroth you to Me in faithfulness. And you shall know Jehovah.
Hos 2:21 And it shall be in that day, I will answer, says Jehovah. I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth.
Hos 2:22 And the earth shall hear the grain, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.
Hos 2:23 And I will sow her to Me in the earth. And I will have mercy on No Mercy. And I will say to Not My People, You are My people! And they shall say, My God!
Rev 19:6 And I heard as a sound of a numerous crowd, and as a sound of many waters, and as a sound of strong thunders, saying, Hallelujah! Because the Lord God Almighty reigned. *
When does this occur? At the 7th trump of Revelation…the great trumpet is blown.
Rev 11:15 And the seventh angel trumpeted. And there were great voices in Heaven, saying, The kingdoms of the world became our Lord’s, even of His Christ; and He shall reign to the ages of the ages.
Rev 19:7 Let us rejoice and let us exult, and we will give glory to Him, because the marriage of the Lamb came, and His wife prepared herself.
Rev 19:8 And it was given to her that she be clothed in fine linen, pure and bright; for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.
Rev 19:9 And he says to me, Write: Blessed are the ones having been called to the supper of the marriage of the Lamb. And he says to me, These Words of God are true.
The Marriage supper connects to the days of Noah.
Mat 25:1 Then the kingdom of Heaven shall be compared to ten virgins who taking their lamps, went out to a meeting of the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five foolish.
Mat 25:3 Those being foolish, taking their lamps, did not take oil with them.
Mat 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Mat 25:5 But the bridegroom delaying, all nodded and slept.
Mat 25:6 And at midnight, a cry occurred: Behold, the bridegroom comes! Go out to meet him.
Mat 25:7 Then all those virgins were aroused and prepared their lamps.
Mat 25:8 And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.
Mat 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, No, lest there not be enough for us and you. But rather, go to those who sell and buy for yourselves. (A reference to the mark of the beast?)
Mat 25:10 But they going away to buy, the bridegroom came. And those ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 And afterwards, the rest of the virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mat 25:12 But answering, he said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.**
Mat 25:13 Therefore, watch*, for you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man comes.
*Watch-pointing back ענה to Yom Kippur.
**Here we see those who did not enter the wedding supper because they did not know Him. This is further explain in Matthew 7 as those who do not walk in the Word/Christ. When we enter the New Covenant we have the Law written upon our hearts. The main reason that many believers in Jesus are blinded to this is that their hearts have been seared by false prophets/teachers as Messiah speaks of in the preceding verses in Matthew 7:21. These are people who believe but yet don’t walk in covenant relationship with the Most High. The same can be said in the days of Noah. Noah WALKED with the Lord, meaning He knew that intimate covenant relationship as a disciple walks with His teacher. There were many people in the world that probably believed in the Almighty, yet they did not walk out that belief and they were left outside of the ark when the rains came. Jesus speaks of this at the end of Matthew chapter 7.
Mat 7:12 Therefore, all things, whatever you desire that men should do to you, so also you should do to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Mat 7:13 Go in through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are the ones entering in through it.
Mat 7:14 For narrow is the gate, and constricted is the way that leads away into life, and few are the ones finding it.
Mat 7:15 But beware of the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside they are plundering wolves.
Mat 7:16 From their fruits you shall know them. Do they gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
Mat 7:17 So every good tree produces good fruits, but the corrupt tree produces evil fruits.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot produce evil fruits, nor a corrupt tree produce good fruits.
Mat 7:19 Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and is thrown into fire.
Mat 7:20 Then surely from their fruits you shall know them.
Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power?
Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; “depart from Me, those working lawlessness!” Psa. 6:8
Mat 7:24 Then everyone who hears these Words from Me, and does them, I will compare him to a wise man who built his house on the rock;
Mat 7:25 and the rain came down, and the floods came up, and the winds blew, and fell against that house; but it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
Mat 7:26 And everyone who hears these Words of Mine, and who does not do them, he shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand;
Mat 7:27 and the rain came down, and the floods came up, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and it fell, and great was the collapse of it.
This connection with the days of Noah is further seen in the book of Jasher.
Jasher 6:17 And the sons of men assembled together, about seven hundred thousand men and women, and they came unto Noah to the ark.
18 And they called to Noah, saying, Open for us that we may come to thee in the ark–and wherefore shall we die?
19 And Noah, with a loud voice, answered them from the ark, saying, Have you not all rebelled against the Lord, and said that he does not exist? and therefore the Lord brought upon you this evil, to destroy and cut you off from the face of the earth.20 Is not this the thing that I spoke to you of one hundred and twenty years back, and you would not hearken to the voice of the Lord, and now do you desire to live upon earth?
21 And they said to Noah, We are ready to return to the Lord; only open for us that we may live and not die.
22 And Noah answered them, saying, Behold now that you see the trouble of your souls, you wish to return to the Lord; why did you not return during these hundred and twenty years, which the Lord granted you as the determined period?
23 But now you come and tell me this on account of the troubles of your souls, now also the Lord will not listen to you, neither will he give ear to you on this day, so that you will not now succeed in your wishes.
24 And the sons of men approached in order to break into the ark, to come in on account of the rain, for they could not bear the rain upon them.
25 And the Lord sent all the beasts and animals that stood round the ark. And the beasts overpowered them and drove them from that place, and every man went his way and they again scattered themselves upon the face of the earth.
Notice that the beasts attacked the unbelievers. So too it will be the beasts that feed upon the wicked during Yom Kippur.
Rev 19:16 And He has on His garment and on His thigh a name having been written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev 19:17 And I saw one angel standing in the sun. And he cried with a great voice, saying to all the birds flying in mid-heaven, Come and gather together to the supper of the great God,
Rev 19:18 that you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of chiliarchs, and the flesh of strong ones, and the flesh of horses, and of the ones sitting on them, and the flesh of all, both freemen and slaves, even of the small and great.
Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth, and their armies being assembled to make war with the One sitting on the horse, and with His army.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was seized, and with this one the false prophet doing signs before it, by which he led astray those having received the mark of the beast, and those worshiping its image. The two were thrown alive into the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone.
Rev 19:21 And the rest were killed with the sword of the One sitting on the horse, the sword having gone forth from His mouth. And all the birds were filled from their flesh.
At this time, Jesus will step down upon the Mt. of Olives
Zec 14:3 And Jehovah shall go out and fight against those nations, (Revelation 19:16) like the day He fought in the day of battle.
Zec 14:4 And His feet shall stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives shall divide from its middle, from the east even to the west, a very great valley. And half of the mountain shall move toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Zec 14:9 And Jehovah shall be King over all the earth. In that day there shall be one Jehovah, and His name one.
