There is only one Biblical definition of what sin is. It is the transgression of the Torah. {The Torah is the entire Bible}
Lev 4:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sinagainst any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:
Psa 119:9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
Psa 119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
Psa 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
David hid the Word/Torah in his heart so that he may not sin.

2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion {G4106 plane}**, that they should believe a lie:

**Strong delusion=error
Twisting Paul’s writings to make him teach anomia/lawlessness is a big part of what the strong delusion is that leads people into worshipping the antichrist as Paul spoke of in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2.
2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
2Pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error {G4106 plane}, of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
If Paul taught that the Torah is not to be kept then Paul taught us to walk in sin. According to Deuteronomy 13, Paul would be considered a false prophet. But what does Paul say?
Rom 3:31 Then is the Law annulled through faith? Let it not be! But we establish Law.
Rom 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under Law, but under grace? Let it not be!
Rom 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to whom you obey, whether of sin to death, or obedience to righteousness?
Rom 6:17 But thanks be to God that you were slaves of sin, but you obeyed from the heart the form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
Rom 6:18 And having been set free from sin, you were enslaved to righteousness. click here
Without the Torah there is no sin
Rom 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
This not to say that Christians in the New Covenant are to follow the Law of Moses however. This is to say that Christians are to follow the commandments of God written on their hearts.
The Word of God is perfect (Psalm 19:7; James 1:25), but cannot bring man to perfection because man is not perfect (Hebrews 7:19; 10:1). The Word of God is the ‘perfect law of liberty’ but men who have tried to walk in this perfect law have never seen true liberty because of the sin which dwells within man enslaves Him (Romans 7:14-25; 9:31-32). It is only through the law of liberty being implanted into the heart of man that a change can occur which leads to perfection (Ezekiel 11:19-20; Romans 2:28-29; Colossians 2:11-13; 2 Corinthians 3:3, 6, 17-18).
It is through this ‘circumcision of the heart’ that the true intent of the law can be revealed in the lives of believers. The true intent of the law of God is not to make men religious but to reform men into the image of their God who is love (1 John 4:8). It is this love that unites us and perfects us. It is the bond of perfection (Colossians 3:14) which sets man free (Galatians 5:13-14).
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Gal_5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
The New Covenant is God’s law/Torah written upon our hearts (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 8:8-13), His character of love (John 13:34-35; 15:10-12; 1 John 4:21; James 2:8; Romans 13:8-10; Galatians 5:14), His Spirit dwelling within us (John 14:15-18; 1 John 3:22-24), God working in us (Philippians 2:13), transforming us into the image of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 13:21; Ephesians 3:17-20; Colossians 3:10; Romans 8:29; 1 John 4:8).
Messiah came to earth in the very image of Almighty God (2 Corinthians 4:4; Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:3), who is love. His life displayed that love and He calls all those who believe in Him to display that love as well. This is the essence of the concept of ‘Christ in us.’ It is through His love that man is formed into His image (Colossians 3:10; Romans 8:29) where there is no longer Jew or Greek, Barbarian or Scythian but Christ is all and in all (Colossians 3:11). This is the true essence of what the Torah is.
The true intent of the law/Word of God is not to make men religious but to reform men into the image of their God who is love (1 John 4:8). It is this love that unites us and perfects us. It is the bond of perfection (Colossians 3:14) which sets man free (Galatians 5:13-14). This love is not intended only for a certain group of religious people, but for all mankind. Scripture declares that in the Messiah shall the ‘gentiles trust’ (Matthew 12:21; Romans 15:8-12; Isaiah 11:10). For Jesus is the true Light which enlightens every man (John 1:9; 12:44-46; Isaiah 49:6), sent to restore all of mankind back to God (Isaiah 45:22; Romans 3:29; John 1:12; 3:15-17).
3 levels of wrong doing
Transgressions, Sins, Iniquity
Exo 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
Sin
H2398 חטא châṭâ’
to sin, miss, miss the way, go wrong, incur guilt

The target which we are aiming at is Messiah Jesus.
Joh 13:15 For I gave you an example, that as I did to you, you also should do.
1Jn 2:3 And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commands.
1Jn 2:4 The one saying, I have known Him, and not keeping His commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that one.
1Jn 2:5 But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.
1Jn 2:6 The one claiming to rest in Him ought so to walk himself as that One walked.
1Pe 2:21 For you were called to this, for even Christ suffered on our behalf, leaving behind an example for us, that you should follow His steps;
1Pe 2:22 “who did not sin, nor was guile found in His mouth;” Isa. 53:9
The Torah is likened to an arrow shooting at a target. It is guiding us to the Messiah. This is why the word for sin means to miss the mark, it is like an arrow that went the wrong path.

Iniquity
H5771 עוון / עון ‛âvôn
perversity, depravity, iniquity

Iniquity means to twist, to pervert. This is what Peter was warning about when people use Paul’s writings to twist and pervert the Scriptures their own destruction. The straight path is righteousness, the crooked path is iniquity. Iniquity is twisting and making crooked the straight path which is the Torah.
Transgression
H6588 פּשׁע pesha‛
transgression, rebellion

Transgression is revolt, rebellion, revolution against God and His Word. The root of pesha means to ‘break free’.

Notice that it this word for transgression is associated freedom FROM a master.
You can be free IN HIM or you can be free FROM HIM.
Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves; yea, the rulers have plotted together against Jehovah and His Anointed, saying,
Psa 2:3 We will break their bands in two, and throw off their cords from us.
Those who walk in Messiah are to cease from sin…they are to cease from lawlessness and rebellion against the Torah.
2Ti 2:19 However, the foundation of God stands firm, having this seal, “The Lord knew the ones being His;” see Num. 16:5, 7, also, Let everyone naming the name of Christ depart from unrighteousness.
Life & Death
1Jn 3:9 Everyone who has been begotten of God does not sin, because His seed {the seed is the Word=Torah Luke 8:11} abides in him, and he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God.
1Jn 3:10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: Everyone not practicing righteousness is not of God; also the one not loving his brother.
1Jn 5:18 We know that everyone being generated* (born of) from God does not sin, but the one having been generated* from God keeps himself, and the evil one does not touch him.
*The Word of God is implanted into our hearts so that we can be born again unto eternal life. When sin (lawlessness) conceives it brings forth death
Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted by his own lusts, being drawn out and being seduced by them.
Jas 1:15 Then having conceived lust brings forth sin. And sin being fully formed brings forth death.
Freed from sin
Rom 6:17 But thanks be to God that you were slaves of sin, but you obeyed from the heart the form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
Rom 6:18 And having been set free from sin, you were enslaved to righteousness.
Rom 6:19 I speak as a man on account of the weakness of your flesh. For as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness and to lawless act unto lawless act, so now yield your members as slaves to righteousness unto sanctification.
Rom 6:20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free as to righteousness.
Rom 6:21 Therefore what fruit did you have then in the things over which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
Rom 6:22 But now having been set free from sin, and having been enslaved to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end everlasting life.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is everlasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Everyone practicing sin is a slave of sin.
Joh 8:35 But the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains to the age.
Joh 8:36 Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.
All have sinned and come short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). There is none righteous before Him (Romans 3:10). Our only hope is in Messiah Jesus who paid the penalty for our sins (John 1:29; 1 John 3:5; 4:10; 1 Peter 2:24; 3:18) that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (Romans 3:22; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
