On this date, 10/30/1735, John Adams was born. In the Presidents Code, John Adams’ Presidency pictures Adam in the Garden of Eden. The Presidents Code is a parable based upon the name meanings of the U.S. Presidents. Their name meanings tell the story of the Biblical text, from the beginning of creation unto the days of Christ. Based upon the premise of this code, it is seen that the very characters of the Presidents, from their personal characters to the events that occurred during their Presidencies reveal in parable form the exact same events of the Biblical narrative of which their name meanings describe. In other words, the history of the United States is displaying a giant parable of the Word of God.

President John Adams
Federalist – 3/4/1797-3/4/1801
After George Washington refused a third term as President, the first Presidential election took place in 1796 in which multiple men attempted to be elected. In a close decision, John Adams defeated Thomas Jefferson by 3 electoral votes to become the second President of the United States.
The meaning of Adams’ name is speaking of God placing Adam in the Garden of Eden.
John comes from the Hebrew name יוֹחָנָן ‘Yochanan’ which means Yah is gracious or the camp of Yah.
Adams comes from the Hebrew word אדם ‘Adam’ meaning man. Here we see the Lord, by His grace, putting Adam in the Garden of Eden, the camp of God (Hebrews 12:22).
Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Just as Washington before him, so too the character of Adams and the character of his Presidency plays out the picture of his name meaning.
Benjamin Rush, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence said of Adams:
“He stands nearly alone in the history of our public men in never having had his integrity called in question or even suspected.” This points to Adam, who was in a state of sinlessness in the Garden of Eden.

Connecting his presidency back to the Garden of Eden is Adams’ belief that a government system based upon the Bible would be a Paradise to live in. The government of the United States, although not based entirely upon the law of the Bible, was founded upon its principles which is why there has been such great blessing upon this nation.
“Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God … What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be.” {Diary and Autobiography of John Adams, Vol. III, pg 9}
John Adams wrote that the general principles of Christianity are those upon which independence was declared by the Founders of this country and upon which the government of this nation was founded.
“The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.” {Letter to Thomas Jefferson 6/28/1813}
We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” {Adams to the officers of the First Brigade of the Third Division of the Militia of Massachusetts 10/11/1798}

John Adams was a member of the Sons of Liberty which included many other famous names such as Samuel Adams, John Hancock and Patrick Henry. It is interesting to note that the Sons of Liberty would meet at a “Liberty Tree”. The story of this Liberty Tree brings forth an amazing parable of the the Garden of Eden.

The Sons of Liberty protested the Stamp Act that the British put upon the American people believing it was censorship or a ‘knowledge tax’ which prohibited colonists from reading and writing freely. Consequently, the Sons of Liberty hung in effigy Andrew Oliver who was chosen by King George to impose this Stamp Act. It was here that a sign was hung declaring this the ‘Tree of Liberty.’ It was here that it is said that ‘America was born.’
This displays an interesting connection to Adam in the Garden. No man has ever been as free as Adam, who dwelt in peace with no hindrance upon his actions as he walked in innocence before God. The only thing Adam was not permitted to do was to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:17). Notice the connections in symbols to the aforementioned history of the Sons of Liberty. They opposed the Stamp Act as a ‘knowledge tax’ which is linked to the tree of knowledge that would take away Adam’s freedom (John 8:34). They proclaimed that they would not be enslaved to this tyranny by setting up a Tree of Liberty which displays the Tree of Life in the midst of the Garden.

To further elaborate upon this I will recapitulate this concept. Here we see Adams’ as a Son of Liberty, involved in the beginnings of the American Revolution, corresponding with the Adam’s beginnings in the Garden of Eden. The Stamp Act was seen as a tool of enslavement which corresponds with the tree of knowledge which enslaved mankind to sin and death. To display their opposition to this tax, they hung Andrew Oliver in effigy on a tree which they proclaimed as the Tree of Liberty. Andrew Oliver’s name meaning brings forth an amazing display of the Gospel.
Andrew comes from the Greek word ανερ ‘aner’ which means man and Oliver comes from the Germanic name ‘Alfher’ which comes from the words ‘alf’ meaning elf and ‘hari’ meaning army or warrior. In German mythology, elves were ‘divine’ beings. A ‘divine warrior.’ Interestingly, Adam is the only person to walk the earth other than the Messiah that is said to have come from God (Luke 3:38).
Oliver is also associated with the Latin word ‘oliva’ meaning the Olive Tree. The Olive tree points to the olive of Israel (Romans 11:16-27), whose root is Jesus (Romans 11:16; Isaiah 6:13; Colossians 2:7).
Here in this Liberty Tree is seen a man hanging whose name points to the Son of God, Jesus Christ. It is through His death on the cross that mankind would be set free from the curse of sin and death which had enslaved them since Adam’s partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge (Hebrews 2:14-15; Romans 6:18; 8:2; Galatians 5:1; 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 8:31-32).
Digging deeper into this connection is the Hebrew word for freedom, חנם ‘chinam.’ חנם ‘chinam’ is a cognate, or relative, of the Hebrew word חן ‘chen’ which means grace or camp. חן ‘chen’ is the source of the name John. The camp of grace or חן ‘chen,’ of Yah. America was to established as a place of freedom, just as the Garden in the beginning.

John Adams was the first President to reside at the White House, the house that Washington ‘built.’ It was Washington who appointed Pierre Charles L’Enfant, his former Captain of Engineers during the War for Independence, to write up the plan for the White House and the Capital city. This is a depiction of Washington as the Father who planted the Garden of Eden and John Adams as the man that He created to dwell therein.

John Adams was President during the French and British wars in which Adams built up the nation’s military in correspondence with the call of God to Adam to ‘keep and guard’ the Garden (Genesis 2:15).
While Adams built up the power of the military, he still recognized the importance of this nation trusting upon the protection of God as its primary source of security.
“It must be felt that there is no national security but in the nation’s humble acknowledged dependence upon God and His overruling providence.”

It was also during this time that Adams signed the controversial ‘Alien and Sedition Acts’ which was designed to prevent an overthrow of the government which was being seen in the French Revolution. At the time America was in a Quasi-War with France known as the XYZ affair.
These Alien and Sedition Acts would lead to Adams losing the Presidency to Thomas Jefferson as they were very unpopular and looked upon as unconstitutional. As will be seen in Jefferson’s parable, Jefferson’s Presidency is a parable of the serpent in the Garden of Eden. The serpent was able to infiltrate the Garden because Adam did not perform his duty of guarding the Garden.
The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed to prevent disorder and rebellion against the national government but were a gross infraction against the 1st Amendment to the Constitution which secures the right of free speech. The law made it illegal to write, print or utter any false, scandalous or malicious writings against the government. In essence, the law corrupted the 1st Amendment. The Bill of Rights was written to secure the rights which were proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration is a parable of the Word of God, this is detailed in the second Appendix. The serpent was able to use Adam and Eve’s corruption of God’s Word (Genesis 3:1-6) to lead them into partaking of the tree of knowledge, just as Jefferson was able to use this law to portray John Adams as an aristocratic oppressor to take the Presidency and ultimately lead to the demise of the Federalist party.
In this Presidents Code it will be seen that throughout our nation’s history there have been times in which Congress and the President have passed laws which have transgressed the Bill of Rights. In each of these cases, the breaking of a particular Amendment in the ten Bill of Rights corresponds with a breaking of the commandment in the Decalogue, or Ten Commandments. The Alien and Sedition Acts infringed upon the 1st Amendment in the Constitution which would correspond with a breaking of the 1st Commandment in the Decalogue. This commandment declares that the LORD is God and that man should put no other gods before Him (Exodus 20:2-3; Deuteronomy 5:6-7). In the Garden, this was the sin in which Adam and Eve committed by partaking of the tree of knowledge. They believed the lie of the serpent that they would become gods by eating of this fruit and live forever (Genesis 3:4-5, 22).

John Adams followed Washington’s example in stressing civic virtue and even kept Washington’s cabinet and continued his major programs. Here we see a picture of Adam in the Garden who inherited and continued that which the Father had created. John Adams was also never involved in any scandal while President which corresponds with Adam’s innocence in the Garden.

In his Inaugural Address, Adams acknowledge George Washington and spoke of him in high regards. Interestingly, Adams spoke of Washington’s life as a bulwark against open or secret enemies of America.
“In that retirement which is his [Washington] voluntary choice may he long live to enjoy the delicious recollection of his services, the gratitude of mankind, the happy fruits of them to himself and the world, which are daily increasing, and that splendid prospect of the future fortunes of this country which is opening from year to year. His name may be still a rampart, and the knowledge that he lives a bulwark, against all open or secret enemies of his country’s peace.”
Washington would die in December of 1799 while Adams was still in office. Amazingly, in this same month the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions authored by Thomas Jefferson were passed which condemned Adams and the Alien and Sedition Acts and brought forth justification for states to nullify federal laws deemed unjust. This was the beginning of the end of Adams’ Presidency and the Federalist party’s control of American politics. Jefferson would lead the Revolution of 1800 in which he would become President and the Democrat-Republicans would take over the Congress in correlation to the serpent infiltrating the Garden and leading Adam astray.
Just as Washington before him, Adams was not a perfect man but was used by God to bring forth a picture which lines up with the submission of this book. God is in control of history, He sets up and puts down leaders of nations for His own purposes. All men are fallible but can and are used for His infallible will. This principle will be seen over and over again throughout this series.
