Shadows of Messiah

Shadows of Messiah book 3

Jesus is all and in all. All things in His creation teach us of Messiah. He is the Aleph and the Tav, the Alpha and Omega, the Word which created the universe. Hence, every letter of the Hebrew alphabet points to Him. Every word in the human language points to Him since every word traces back to Hebrew. Each Hebrew letter corresponds to a number, hence every number points to Him. Whether it be music, the electromagnetic spectrum, string theory, chemistry, biology, anatomy, geology etc., all things point to Him. Scripture admonishes us to muse on His Word, His creation, and history. All of these topics point to Messiah. All things were created by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16) and for His desire (Revelation 4:11) and His desire is with mankind (Proverbs 8:31). All things point back to Him. May we continue to learn and grow in Him, seeing who He truly is, seeing His glory in all things, learning of Him through all that we see and do.

From the heavens above, to the mind boggling intricacies of atoms to the incredible complexity of our bodies, all was designed to lead us to Him. Not only does the creation testify of the Creator, the creation testifies of the Word of God, the Bible. All of creation came forth from the Word, and as a result testifies of it. The purpose of this book is to share some examples of how creation reveals the Word of God.

All that we experience in this life was created to lead us to our Creator. All that we see, hear, touch, taste and feel was created so that we might see the Most High and be drawn to Him. Just as the personality of an artist can be see through his paintings or the heart of an author can be seen through his writings, so too the creation allow us to see the Creator. All of His works are embedded with His image.

The Holy Scriptures state that Christ Jesus is all and in all (Colossians 3:11), this is because He is the Creator (Ephesians 3:9; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:12-17; Hebrews 1:1-12). The purpose of these studies is to reveal Messiah in His creation, to establish the foundation that all branches of science point to Him. It is from this foundation that one can dig deeper and behold wondrous things that glorify the Most High.

Most realize that the study of creation inevitably leads one to the conclusion that there is a Creator even if that person has not come to the knowledge of the Bible being the Word of that same Creator. From the amazing complexity of the DNA molecule to the harmony and synchronicity of the heavenly bodies, it can not be denied that there is a Creator who made these things. What is not understood by most, I believe, is that His creation is a type of His ‘Word.’ His creation points to His Word and from His Word it is seen that His creation is a shadow picture of Christ Jesus.

Not only did the Creator give His Word to mankind to lead them to the knowledge of salvation found in the Messiah, so too, He gave them shadows and parables in all of nature that lead them to Him as well.

As one begins to see shadow pictures and parables of Christ in all of creation, the sense of awe and wonder that one experiences is beyond words.

Rom 11:33 O the depth of the riches and of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
Rom 11:34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who became His counselor?”
Rom 11:35 “Or who first gave to Him, and it will be repaid to him?”
Rom 11:36 Because of Him, and through Him, and to Him areall things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

Not only is His wisdom and Glory incomprehensible, but His creation reveals His unfathomable love for mankind. To think that everything we experience in life was designed that way so that man might come to a stronger relationship with his Creator is beyond amazing. There are no adjectives to describe His greatness and love for the work of His hands.

These studies only begins to scratch the surface of the Glory of God which is revealed in His creation. It is my hopes that the information in the following pages will provoke the reader to further study to grow in grace and in knowledge of the Most High.

The seven branches of science are shadow pictures that point to the Messiah. The purpose of this book is not to go into great depth on each subject but to establish the fact that each branch of science reveals the Messiah in types and shadows. Every aspect of Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology point to Him. It would take a library of books to even scratch the surface of the shadows of Messiah seen in creation, so these studies will not do justice to the vastness of this subject.

Whatever your area of interesting, whatever your area of expertise, your understanding and knowledge of the world can, and should be used, to glorify the Most High. From the pages of Scriptures and the Hebrew language it is seen that EVERYTHING in this universe reveals His Glory.

One of the foundational principles found in the Word is the training up and teaching of children in the ways of the Most High. We can teach our children Biblical principles in all that they experience. From their ABCs to their 123s they can be taught the ways of the Most High, His kingdom and the knowledge of repentance and salvation through Messiah.

I have spent years putting this information together, a little here, a little there. The more I learn the more I realize how little I know when it comes to the Wisdom of the Almighty. One can take a single verse of Scripture, write an entire treatise or book on the understanding the Most High gives them and yet they are only seeing a small section of an enormous panorama. So too, one can take an intricate leaf off a tree and put it under the microscope and as one increases the magnification of the lens the intricacy becomes greater and greater.

Truly, one can spend a lifetime seeking Him…and this is what the Most High desires.
Joh 17:3 And this is everlasting life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

Shadows of Messiah (article which explains the concept)

Shadows of Messiah – Creation

All that we experience in this life was created to lead us to our Creator. All that we see, hear, touch, taste and feel was created so that we might see the Most High and be drawn to Him. Just as the personality of an artist can be see through his paintings or the heart of an author can be seen through his writings, so too the creation allow us to see the Creator. All of His works are embedded with His image.

The Holy Scriptures state that Messiah is all and in all (Colossians 3:11), this is because He is the Creator (Ephesians 3:9; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:12-17; Hebrews 1:1-12). The purpose of “Shadows of Messiah” is to reveal Messiah in His creation, to establish the foundation that all branches of science point to Him.

The Bible admonishes us to muse on His Word, His creation, and history.

Not only did the Creator give His Word to mankind to lead them to the knowledge of salvation found in the Messiah, so too, He gave them shadows and parables in all of nature that lead them to Him as well.

Colossians 3:11 states that Christ Jesus is all and in all.

Col 3:11  Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

In creation, this concept is seen in shadow picture or parable form.  All things are a shadow pointing back to Messiah (Hebrews 8:5; 9:24; 10:1; Colossians 2:16-17) who is the Image of God (Hebrews 1:3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Colossians 1:15-16).

All that we experience in this life was created to lead us to our Creator (Romans 1:19-20; Psalm 33:6-9; 150:6; Isaiah 40:26; 41:20; 45:5-8).  All that we see, hear, touch, taste and feel was created so that we might see the Most High and be drawn to Him.  Just as the personality of an artist can be see through his paintings or  the heart of an author can be seen through his writings, so too the creation allow us to see the Creator.  He is the Great Artist, the Maker of all things.  The English word ‘artist’ comes form the Hebrew word יצר ‘yatsar’ which means to create or form, as a potter molding clay.  The Lord is the former {יצר ‘yatsar’} of all things (Jeremiah 10:16; 51:19).  As a result, all of His works are embedded with His image.

The Holy Scriptures state that Christ Jesus is all and in all (Colossians 3:11),  this is because He is the Creator (Ephesians 3:9; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:12-17; Hebrews 1:1-12).  All things are a shadow pointing back to Messiah (Hebrews 8:5; 9:24; 10:1; Colossians 2:16-17) who is the Image of God (Hebrews 1:3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Colossians 1:15-16).

In the beginning, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters (Genesis 1:2).  The word for hover in this verse is רחף ‘rachaph’ which pictures a bird overshadowing her nest.  The Almighty then said “let there be light” from whence all matter came forth, creating a shadow of His image over all of creation.

Astronomy

Astronomy

Psa 8:1  To the chief musician, on the harp. A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth; You have set Your glory above (על – above/on/upon)the heavens!

His Glory is seen in the heavens…What is the Glory of the LORD?  The Lamb of God (Revelation 21:23).  The study of Astronomy leads to Jesus Christ in shadow picture or parable form. Astronomy reveals the Glory of God (Psalm 8:1), who is Jesus (Revelation 21:23).

Biology

Biology is the study of life, which Scripture defines as Jesus (John 11:25; 14:6; 1 John 5:12, 20). Through the study of biology, man is led to the knowledge of the Most High. Through the study of natural life, one is led to the source of that life and the ultimate definition of the word.

Chemistry

“Simply put, this whole branch of science is all about matter, which is anything that has mass and occupies space.  Chemistry is the study of the composition and properties of matter and the changes it undergoes.”  {Chemistry for Dummies pg 9}

Chemistry is the study of matter and the changes it undergoes. Matter comes forth from the Word of God who is Jesus (John 1:1-2).

Chemistry

The English word matter comes from the Latin ‘materia’ which means the inner wood of a tree.  As seen in Genesis 1:9-13, the Word/דבר ‘davar’ is linked to trees.  The Bible, codex, liber, scroll etc., all trace back to trees.  In Hebrew, one of the words for matter is דבר ‘davar’ which means Word.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.

דבר ‘davar’

Messiah is the Word (John 1:1-3, 14; 1 John 1:1-2)

Geology is the study of earth, of which the image of Messiah is embedded throughout.  He is described as the Living Waters (Jeremiah 2:13; 17:13; Isaiah 44:3; John 4:10; 7:37 etc), the Rock (Psalm 18:2, 31; 62:7; 92:15; Deuteronomy 32:3-4; Isaiah 44:8; 1 Corinthians 10:4, 9; Genesis 49:24), He is described as the Rain (Hosea 6:3; Deuteronomy 32:3; Psalm 72:6; Isaiah 45:8), Snow (Isaiah 55:10), His voice is likened to thunder, lightning and many waters (Revelation 1:15; Ezekiel 43:2).  He is the Tree of Life (John 14:6; Proverbs 3:18) and the Spirit (wind) (1 Peter 1:11; Romans 8:9).  He is described as flowers (Song of Songs 2:1) and the clouds point to Him (Isaiah 19:1; Psalm 104:3; Matthew 26:64; Daniel 7:13; Revelation 1:7; 14:14; Exodus 16:10; 40:34 etc).  The grass, sand and seashore reveal Him.  All of nature declares His Glory!!!.

Mathematics

Mathematics is the study of numbers, the logic of quantity and shape and arrangement. The Hebrew words for number and scroll/book are from the same root word (ספר ‘saphar’). The Word of God is strongly associated with numbers and in fact each Hebrew and Greek letter is a number as well. Therefore the Holy Scriptures are words as well as numbers. Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1-2), therefore all mathematics points to Him.

Physics is the study of the cosmos, the search for the “λόγος ‘logos’ and κόσμος ‘kosmos’” which points directly to the Word of God.  λόγος ‘logos’ is the Greek word for “word” which the Bible defines as Christ Jesus (John 1:1-3, 14; 1 John 1:1-2; Revelation 19:13). κόσμος ‘kosmos’ is the Greek word for the universe, world and order but also means the ‘circle of the earth.’  This circle can be rendered as the Hebrew word דר ‘dar’ which means order as well and is the root of the word דבר ‘davar’ which is the Hebrew word for “word.”

Psychology

Psychology is the study of mankind. The way in which our brains work, our emotions, human history, genealogy, religions, language, culture and all human institutions point to Messiah. Mankind was created in the image or “shadow” of God (Genesis 1:26-27). The study of man (Adam) points to the Messiah, the “Last Adam” (1 Corinthians 15:45-17).

A part of the study of man (Psychology) is history. The study of history brings forth wisdom (Psalm 90:12) which points us directly to Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:24, 30).

Language is another unique aspect of the study of man. All languages trace back to Hebrew. The Hebrew language points to the Word, who is Messiah. Each letter of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet, and each word in Hebrew points to Messiah. Hence, every word of every language points to Messiah.

Holidays are a major aspect of the study of man. The holidays which God gave His people are shadow pictures of His Son (Colossians 2:16-17). Not only are the holy days in the Bible shadow pictures of Messiah, so too are the holidays instituted by man.

Language

Languages

Language is a unique aspect of the study of man. All languages trace back to Hebrew.  According to the Holy Scriptures, all peoples spoke one language until the Tower of Babel when the languages were confused (Genesis 11:1). What was this langauge?  Many who have studied the origin of language believe this was Hebrew.  This study of the origin of all languages tracing back to ancient Hebrew is called Edenics. (See Edenics.org)

The Hebrew language points to the Word, who is Messiah.  Each letter of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet, and each word in Hebrew points to Messiah. As all languages derive from Hebrew, every word of every language points to Messiah.  It is harder to see Him in English, or German or French than it is in the pure waters of Hebrew but He is seen nevertheless.

Book of Sirach Prologue

“Wherefore, let me entreat you to read it with favor and attention, and to pardon us, wherein we may seem to come shore of some words which we have labored to interpret.  For the same things uttered in Hebrew, and translated into another tongue, have not the same force in them: and not only these things, but the Law itself, and the Prophets , and the rest of the books, have no small difference, when they are spoken in their own language.”

1611 AV translators

“Againe they were not out of the Hebrew fountain (wee speake of the Latine Translations of the Old Testament) but out of the Greeke streame, therefore the Greeke being not altogether cleare, the Laitine deriued from it must needs be muddie.”

“He that would understand a book written in a strange language must first learn the language…Such a language was that wherein the Prophets wrote, and the want of sufficient skill in that language is the main reason why they are so little understood.  John did not write in one language, Daniel in another, Isaiah in a third and the rest in others peculiar themselves, but they all write in one and the same mystical language…For the language of the Prophets, being Hieroglyphical, had affinity with that of the Egyptian priest and Eastern wise men, and therefore was anciently much better understood in the East than it is now in the West.  I received also much light in this search by the analogy between the world natural and the world polictic.  For the mystical language was founded in this analogy, and will be best understood by considering its original.”  {Isaac Newton – The Language of the Prophets pg 14}

The Hebrew word for the Hebrew language is עברית ‘ivrit.’  עברית ‘ivrit’ comes from the root בר ‘bar’ which means ‘pure.’  Hebrew breaks down pictographically as thus:

ע ‘ayin’ means to see
בר ‘bet-resh’ is the word for Son
י ‘yod’ is a hand
ת ‘tav’ is a cross

The pictographs of the word עברית ‘ivrit’ (Hebrew) means to ‘see the Son with hands on the cross.’  The Hebrew language was designed to reveal the Gospel.  It is through the work of Messiah on the cross that all mankind is brought back to the Father (Zephaniah 3:9).

History

Shadows of Messiah – History

A part of the study of man (Psychology) is history. The study of history brings forth wisdom (Psalm 90:12) which points us directly to Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:24, 30).

Psa 90:12 So teach us to number our days, so that we may bring a heart of wisdom.

Psalm 90:12 literally says make us to know the number or time of our days that wisdom may enter our hearts.  Who is Wisdom?  The Messiah. (1 Corinthians 1:24, 30).

Psa 96:1  O sing to Jehovah a new song; sing to YHWH, all the earth.
Psa 96:2  Sing to Jehovah; bless His name, bear news of His salvation
(ישועה ‘yeshuah’ – source of the name Jesus) day by day.
Psa 96:3  Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonders among all people.

The Septuagint translates Psalm 90:12 as follows

Psa 90:12  And who knows how to number his days because of the fear of Your wrath? So manifest Your right hand, and those that are instructed in wisdom in the heart.

Who is His Right Hand?  The Messiah  (Psalm 118:14-16; Isaiah 48:13; Acts 5:31).

Man’s days are a shadow picture which points to Messiah (1 Chronicles 29:15; Job 8:8-9; Psalm 102:11; 144:4).

Shadows of Messiah – Daily Tidbits

All things are a shadow pointing back to Messiah (Hebrews 8:5; 9:24; 10:1; Colossians 2:16-17) who is the Image of God (Hebrews 1:3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Colossians 1:15-16).  In our 3 dimensional world we are familiar with 2 dimensional shadows that are cast by 3 dimensional objects.  Scripture, and even science speaks of a 4th dimensional spirit realm.  A 4th dimensional object will cast a 3 dimensional shadow.  The Almighty, who dwells in this 4th dimension casts a 3 dimensional shadow which is seen in all His handiwork of this creation.  In the beginning, the Spirit hovered over the waters (Genesis 1:2). The word for hover here (רחף ‘rachaph’) links to a bird overshadowing her nest. The Almighty then said let there be light which cast a shadow over the entire universe. Hence, all of His creation is a shadow pointing back to Him.

All of creation is pointing us to Him.

Everything we see, hear, touch, taste & smell points to Him.  Calling us to Him, to know Him more, to walk closer with Him, to glorify Him and praise Him.  He is described as Light, Love, Truth, Life, the Way…The Tabernacle and the Temple are shadow pictures of Him which corresponds to our bodies.  Our bodies as a whole point to Him and each individual part teaches and points back to Messiah.  He is described as the Living Waters, He is seen in the trees, vine, branches, roots, the rocks, the earth, lilies, roses, seed, the grass, the clouds, fire, the wind,  the sun, moon and stars.  Music, color, numbers, shapes and all frequencies point to Him.  Lions, lambs, oxen, eagles, hens all point to Him.  He is seen in armies, captains, kings, swords & shields.  He is seen in the institution of the family, fathers, sons, daughters & mothers.  He is seen in marriage and children.  He is seen in farming, carpentry, education & manufacturing.

From the time that we wake up, get dressed, bathe, eat breakfast and go to work, to the time that we go to bed, all that we see and do and experience is pointing to Him.  When we awake from sleep and when the sun rises it points to the resurrection so that we can see Messiah, give thanks and glorify His name.  Each time that we feel our heart beat it is pumping the waters of life which makes a sound similar to תודה ‘to-dah’, תודה ‘to-dah’  thank you, thank you and each breathe we take proclaims the name of God.  When we inhale it sounds like Yah, when we exhale it sounds like way….תודה יהוה ‘to-dah Yahweh,’ תודה יהוה ‘to-dah Yahweh,’ our bodies are proclaiming all day everyday.

When we get dressed in them morning it reminds us that when mankind fell it was God who clothed Adam pointing to the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the earth.  When we bathe it points to baptism and being reborn in Messiah, in fact the word for soap comes from the same root for son (בר ‘bar’).  We eat our breakfasts or our daily bread who is Messiah.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner reminds us of the Biblical concept of praying 3 times a day, which corresponds to the specific hours mentioned in reference to Messiah on the tree and the hours of prayer (3rd, 6th, 9th hours).  We go to our jobs or to school and are reminded that He is the one that gives us the power to gain wealth.  He is the one that gives us the intellect and skill to do our jobs.  Our jobs remind us that we are to be servants to one another, just as He was.  After the work day we come home, showing a picture of entering into the Kingdom when our work is done.  We sit down to eat dinner, showing the picture of the wedding supper where we eat with our loved ones.

ALL things point to Him.  May He be glorified in all that we think, say and do.

As one begins to see shadow pictures and parables of Messiah in all of creation, the sense of awe and wonder that one experiences is beyond words.

Rom 11:33 O the depth of the riches and of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
Rom 11:34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who became His counselor?”
Isa. 40:13
Rom 11:35 “Or who first gave to Him, and it will be repaid to him?” Job 41:11

Rom 11:36 Because of Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

Not only is His wisdom and Glory incomprehensible, but His creation reveals His unfathomable love for mankind. To think that everything we experience in life was designed that way so that man might come to a stronger relationship with his Creator is beyond amazing. There are no adjectives to describe His greatness.

2Co 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

The word translated as obedience in 2 Corinthians 10:5 comes from the Greek word ὑπακοή ‘hupakoe,’ which corresponds to the Hebrew word ענוה ‘anavah.’  ענוה ‘anavah’ means to be humble, low, submissive, meek…to bow down before.

Php 2:10  that at the name of Jesus “every knee should bow,” of heavenly ones, and earthly ones, and ones under the earth,
Php 2:11  and “every tongue should confess” that Jesus Christ is “Lord,” to the glory of God the Father. Isa. 45:23
