Biblical ‘grace’ (Hebrew: Chen חֵן / Greek: Charis χάρις) is far more than unmerited favor. It is God’s divine kindness, beauty, and empowering presence extended toward the undeserving. Grace is not just forgiveness — it is the power to walk in newness of life, the ability to obey, and the divine enablement to do what we cannot do in our own strength. ‘For by grace you have been saved through faith…’ (Ephesians 2:8)”
The Grace of God is the Gospel
Act_20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
The Grace of God is the Word
Act_20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
The Grace of God is His Gift
Rom_5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Eph_2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Jesus is the Gift of God.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
The Grace of God comes through Jesus
1Co_1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
2Co_13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi, a city of Macedonia, by Titus and Lucas.
Jesus is the Grace of God that brings salvation to the world
Tit_2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Is there an antithesis between Law (Torah) and Grace in the Holy Scriptures?
The Scriptures speak of the Torah as grace
Psa 119:29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
Septuagint (LXX)
Psa 119:29 (118:29) ὁδὸν ἀδικίας ἀπόστησον ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ καὶ τῷ νόμῳσου ἐλέησόν με.
Psa 119:29 Remove from me the way of iniquity; and be merciful to me by Your law.
Paul speaks of the TaNaKH as the Word of His grace
Act 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance {Deuteronomy 33:2} among all them which are sanctified {Deuteronomy 28:9; John 17:17}.
Deu 33:2 And he said: Jehovah came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir for them; He shone forth from Mount Paran, and He came from the myriads of holy ones. At his right hand a law of fire went forth to them.
Deu 33:3 Yes, He loves the peoples; all His holy ones are in Your hand; and they sit down at Your feet; He lifts up each at Your Words.
Deu 33:4 Moses has commanded a Law to us, an inheritance for the congregation of Jacob.
Those sanctified
Deu 28:9 Jehovah shall establish you a holy (sanctified) people to Himself, as He has sworn to you, if you shall keep the commands of Jehovah your God and welcome His ways.

Pro 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Pro 4:6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Pro 4:8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
Pro 4:9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
Saved by Grace through Faith
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Eph 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Exo 11:3 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.
In Exodus 12 blood of lamb applied to doorposts (faith)
Exo 12:3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, On the tenth of this month, they shall each take for themselves an animal of the flock for a father’s house, a flock animal for a house.
Exo 12:4 And if the house is too small for a flock animal, he and his neighbor next to his house shall take according to the number of souls, each one according to the mouth of his eating, you shall count concerning the flock animal.
Exo 12:5 A flock animal, a male without blemish, a yearling, shall be to you. You shall take from the sheep or from the goats.
Exo 12:6 And it shall be for you to keep until the fourteenth day of this month. And all the assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it between the evenings.
Exo 12:7 And they shall take from the blood, and put it on the two side doorposts and on the upper doorpost, on the houses in which they eat it.
Exo 12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in this night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
Exo 12:9 Do not eat it raw, or at all boiled in water, but roasted with fire; its head with its legs and with its inward parts.
Exo 12:10 And you shall not leave any of it until morning. And you shall burn with fire that left from it until morning.
Exo 12:11 And you shall eat it this way: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Passover to Jehovah.
Exo 12:12 And I will pass through in the land of Egypt in this night. And I will strike every first-born in the land of Egypt, from man even to livestock. And I will execute judgments on all the gods of Egypt. I am Jehovah!
Exo 12:13 And the blood shall be a sign to you, on the houses where you are. And I will see the blood, and I will pass over you. And the plague shall not be on you to destroy, when I strike in the land of Egypt.
Heb 11:28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
Exo 14:31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.
Heb 11:29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
Exodus 20 & Mt Sinai displays the principle that the commandments come after grace through faith. This is how it has always been. First comes the belief/faith that He is, then a commitment to follow and obey His Word.
This is what we see in the New Testament
Saved by grace through faith
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Through Messiah our Passover
1Co 5:7 Then purge out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For also Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us.
Acts 2 The Holy Spirit is poured out so that we can walk in His ways where His Torah is written on our hearts.
What is the role of the Spirit?
Joh 16:13 But when that One comes, the Spirit of Truth, He will guide you into all Truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will announce the coming things to you.
What is truth?
Joh 17:17 Sanctify them in Your Truth; Your Word is Truth.
Psa 119:43 And do not take the Word of Truth completely out of my mouth; for I have hoped in Your judgments.
Psa 119:44 And I shall keep Your Law continually, forever and ever.
Psa 119:142 Your righteousness is forever, and Your Law is truth.
The Spirit is given so that we will walk in the Spirit of the Torah, whom Messiah Jesus revealed to the world.
Eze 11:19 And I shall give to them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will remove the stony heart out of their flesh, and I will give them a heart of flesh,
Eze 11:20 so that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments, and do them. And they shall be to Me for a people, and I will be to them for God.
Eze 36:26 And I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments and do them.
Eze 36:28 And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. And you shall be a people to Me, and I will be God to you.
The new covenant has the Torah written upon our hearts.
Heb 10:15 And the Holy Spirit witnesses to us also. For after having said before,
Heb 10:16 “This is the covenant which I will covenant to them after those days, says the Lord: Giving My Laws on their hearts, and I will write them on their minds;”
Heb 10:17 also He adds, “I will not at all still remember their sins” and their lawlessnesses. MT-Jer. 31:33, 34
Example of the doorposts
First the blood is applied.
Exo 12:7 And they shall take from the blood, and put it on the two side doorposts and on the upper doorpost, on the houses in which they eat it.
After the blood is applied and salvation is attained through the blood of the lamb, then the Torah is written upon those doorposts.
Deu 6:9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house, and on your gates.
Noah found grace and then built an ark as he was commanded to do.
Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Gen 7:5 And Noah did according to all that Jehovah commanded him.
Lot received grace and then left Sodom as he was commanded to do
Gen 19:18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
Gen 19:19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
The Angels commanded Lot and his family not to look back. Lot and his daughters were obedient and they were saved. Lot’s wife was disobedient and perished. Lot’s wife found grace but it was not mixed with obedience.
Moses was under grace…yet he was still told to be obedient to the commandments
Exo 33:12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
The Children of Israel were saved by grace through faith when they applied the blood of the lamb to the doorposts and crossed the Red Sea. However, their disobedience prevented them from entering the promised land.
Heb 4:6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter into it, and those who formerly had the gospel preached did not enter in on account of disobedience,
Heb 4:7 He again marks out a certain day, saying in David, Today (after so long a time, according as He has said), “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” MT-Psalm 95:7, 8
WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE
Act 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 Let it not be! We who died to sin, how shall we still live in it?
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
What is sin? Sin is the transgression of the Torah/Law. Should we stop keeping the law because we are under grace? God forbid.
1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jo 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
Saved by grace unto good works
Eph 2:5 even we being dead in deviations, He made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are being saved),
Eph 2:6 and raised us up together and seated us together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,
Eph 2:7 that He might demonstrate in the ages coming on, the exceeding great riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8 For by grace you are saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God;
Eph 2:9 not of works, that not anyone should boast;
Eph 2:10 for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God before prepared that we should walk in them.
Psa 105:42 For He remembered His holy Word and His servant Abraham;
Psa 105:43 and He brought His people out with joy; His elect with gladness.
Psa 105:44 And He gave to them the lands of the nations; and they inherited the labor of the peoples;
Psa 105:45 so that they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise Jehovah!
GRACE AND OBEDIENCE
1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Pe 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Even in the time of the Apostles there were people who crept into the congregation teaching law versus grace.
Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Jud 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Torah, Grace, Dew
Torah and Grace are also connected via the word Dew.
Manna=Jesus according to John 6…Jesus=the Word
Exo 16:13 And it happened in the evening: the quail came up and covered the camp. And in the morning a layer of dew was around the camp.
Num 11:9 And when the dew came down on the camp by night, the manna came down on it.
Deu 32:2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain; my speech shall drop down as the dew, as the small rain on the tender plant, and as the showers on the grass;
Pro 19:12 The king’s wrath is like a lion’s roar, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
Camp Grace connection
Gen 9:27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and He shall live in the tents of Shem, and Canaan shall be their slave.
Grammatically, ‘He’ is speaking of God. God shall dwell in the tents of Shem, this is the meaning of the word grace.

Grace literally means the camp of the family. Israel in the wilderness, dwelling in camps with the Glory of God in their midst is the perfect definition of Grace.

This is what grace looks like:

How is the Kingdom of Heaven going to be set up?
Rev 21:10 And he carried me in spirit onto a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, holy Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God,
Rev 21:11 having the glory of God. And its light was like a very precious stone, as a jasper stone, being clear as crystal,
Rev 21:12 and having a great and high wall, having twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates and names having been inscribed, which are of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.
Rev 21:13 From the east, three gates; from the north, three gates; from the south, three gates; and from the west, three gates.
Rev 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
Grace – Freedom connection
H2600 חנּם chinnâm
BDB Definition:
1) freely, for nothing, without cause
חנם ‘chinnam’ comes from the root חן ‘chen’ which means grace.
Another word for Freedom/Liberty in Hebrew comes from דרר ‘darar.’ The root of this word is:
It is interesting that one of the words for freedom in Hebrew means free flowing. This is the meaning of the word Jubilee. It is in the Jubilee that we are brought back to our family and our possessions. This was the task of the Messiah, to bring mankind back to the House. The first letter of the Scriptures is a ב ‘bet.’ In Torah scrolls that ב ‘bet’ is enlarged to draw our attention to the importance of the House. Creation started as a House for God to dwell with His creation and in the end the New Jerusalem be established on earth so that God can dwell with His creation. This is the meaning of grace.
Numerical value of חן ‘chen’ – Grace
חן ‘chen’ = 58
Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood {בדם הוא ‘bdam he`’}, and I have given it to you on the altar, to atone for your souls; for it is the blood which makes atonement for the soul.
*בדם הוא ‘bdam he`’…literally in His blood. This phrase = 58
It is only through faith in the blood of the Lamb that we can find His grace. It is through the blood of the Lamb of God that we enter into covenant with the Most High and are brought into the camp of the righteous. The gates of the righteous are opened so that we can enter in through the door of the sheepfold who is the Messiah.
The name Noah = 58
Noah comes from the word נוח ‘nuach’ meaning rest.
נוח ‘nuach’ comes from the root:
This is the picture that Psalm 23 paints, the end of the exile where the Good Shepherd leads us to the still waters. The pictograph meaning of this word also can mean the seed inside the walls as in His people in the camp.
The garden = 58
The kingdom, His rest, His נוח ‘nuach’ is the garden of Eden restored.
Gen 2:15 And Jehovah God took the man and put {נוח ‘nuach’} him into the Garden of Eden, to work it and to keep it.
