Todays random word is אשם ‘asham’ which means one who is guilty. It is translated as guilty, trespass, sin etc. אשם ‘asham’ comes from the root word שם ‘shem’ which means the character of a person as in their breath or “aroma”.
Sin brings forth the aroma of death while His Word brings forth the aroma of life. One of the purposes of His Word is to convict mankind (Romans 3:19; James 2:10) and reveal to them their stench (Isaiah 64:6; Romans 7:18, 24) that they may turn to Him for forgiveness through the Word made flesh, Yahshua/Jesus (Ephesians 2:1-2; Romans 7:25).
Scriptures declares that His Name or Character is His Word (Revelation 19:13; Matthew 12:21=Isaiah 42:4). Those who are born again in His Word (James 1:18, 21) bear forth the sweet fragrance of this Word (2 Corinthians 2:14-16). To those who are likewise saved through this Word, the sweet fragrance of His Word comes forth. To those who are lost, the smell of death is revealed as the Word also reveals our guilt. The only way to bring forth the sweet fragrance of His Word is through the love of God, revealed in Messiah Jesus.
Eph 5:2 and walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.
Love is the character/name of God (1 John 4:8). The Hebrew word for love is אהב ‘ahav’ which is consists of the letters אב. אב means father. The middle letter ה ‘heh’ has the meaning of revelation. The Father revealed. In ancient Hebrew, the letter ה ‘heh’ was depicted as a man with outstretched arms, like unto Messiah on the cross. How was the love of the Father revealed? Through the giving of His only begotten Son as an atonement for the sins of mankind (John 3:16).
Let us take up our crosses (Mark 8:34-37; Luke 14:26-33; Mark 10:21) and die to ourselves daily (1 Corinthians 15:31), presenting our lives as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1-2; 6:6-18) which are a sweet fragrance to the Most High. Forgiving, loving, walking in the Character/Name of YHWH.
1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Col 3:12 Therefore, as elect ones of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassions, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering,
Col 3:13 bearing with one another and forgiving yourselves, if anyone has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also you should forgive.
Col 3:14 And above all these, love, which is the bond of perfectness.
Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you also were called in one body, and be thankful.
Col 3:16 Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom teaching and exhorting yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col 3:17 And everything, whatever you do in word or in work, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father through Him.
