Random Word – Gate

Today’s random word is תרע ‘tara’ and is used only one time in Scripture (Ezra 7:24).  Its an Aramaic word whose meaning is that of a doorkeeper or porter.  The Hebrew parallel is שער ‘sha’ar.’

שער ‘sha’ar’ means gate but also to think and reason as knowledge in Hebrew (דע ‘dah’) has the literally meaning of the door of the eyes from which knowledge enters.

Scripture declares that as a man thinks (שער ‘sha’ar’) in his heart, so he is (Proverbs 23:7).  We are what we allow to enter into the gates of our hearts.  Our focus should be on welcoming the King of Glory through the gates of our hearts that we might become like Him (Psalm 24:7-10), that we might have the Mind of Messiah (1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:5-8)

This is what having the Kingdom within is all about (Luke 17:20-21; 11:20).  Messiah in us (John 6:56; 14:15-17; 15:4-7; 8:8-11; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 1:26-28), is the Kingdom in us.  When we seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness (Matthew 6:33) we are seeking Him, seeking His Face.  We, as His body are being formed into His image by His Spirit (Ezekiel 36:26-27).  This is what a citizen of Zion (Psalm 87:5; Ephesians 2:19; Philippians 3:20-21) is, one who is reformed into a perfect/mature image of Messiah (Isaiah 61:6-10; Romans 8:9, 14-30; 13:14; Ephesians 5:25-32; Galatians 3:26-29).

Eph 4:10  He that came down is the same who also went up above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.
Eph 4:11  And indeed He gave some to be apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12  with a view to the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,
Eph 4:13  until we all may come to the unity of the faith and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
Eph 4:14  so that we may no longer be infants, being blown and carried about by every wind of doctrine, in the sleight of men, in craftiness to the deceit of error,
Eph 4:15  but speaking the truth in love, we may grow up into Him in all things, who is the Head, the Christ,
Eph 4:16  from whom all the body, having been fitted and compacted together through every assisting bond, according to the effectual working of one measure in each part, produces the growth of the body to the building up of itself in love.
Eph 4:23  and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
Eph 4:24  and to put on the new man, which according to God was created in righteousness and true holiness.
Eph 4:25  Therefore, putting off the false, “speak truth each with his neighbor,” because we are members of one another. Zech. 8:16
