Prophecies of Messiah

Prophecies of Messiah – Numbers 9:12: Not a Bone Broken

Num 9:12  They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.

Numbers 9:12 is a re-iteration of the command seen in Exodus 12:46 that not a bone of the Passover lamb was to be broken.  This points to Messiah Jesus.

Joh 19:31  The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
Joh 19:32  Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
Joh 19:33  But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
Joh 19:34  But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Joh 19:35  And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
Joh 19:36  For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

Because the Passover lamb was to be cooked whole, it was cooked on a cross.

Passover lamb cross

The Greek word for Passover, πάσχα ‘pascha,’ is translated as Passover 28 times in the New Testament.

The Hebrew word כח ‘koach’ which means power has a numerical value of 28.  28 is also linked to the cross.  The letter ת is a picture of the cross.  ת is spelled as תו which consists of ת the 22nd letter of the Hebrew alphabet and ו ‘vav’ the 6th letter giving the total of 28.

1Co 1:18  For the Word of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God.

The תו ‘tav’ – Passover connection is further seen in Ezekiel 9.

Eze 9:4  And YHWH said to him, Pass through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and mark a mark {תו } on the foreheads of the men who are groaning and are mourning over all the abominations that are done in her midst.
Eze 9:5  And He said to those in my hearing, Pass over in the city after him and strike. Do not let your eye spare, and do not have pity.

The blood is His mark
Exo 12:13  And the blood shall be a sign to you, on the houses where you are. And I will see the blood, and I will pass over you*. And the plague shall not be on you to destroy, when I strike in the land of Egypt.

It is the blood of Messiah that marks us as His own
Rev 1:5  even from Jesus Christ the Faithful Witness, the First-born out of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him loving us and washing us from our sins by His blood,

Rev 1:6  and made us kings and priests to God, even His Father. To Him is the glory and the might forever and ever. Amen.

The blood is associated with Passover and unleavened bread
1Co 5:7  Then purge out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For also Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us.

UNLEAVENED BREAD is also a sign/mark of YHWH
Exo 13:6  Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD.
Exo 13:7  Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
Exo 13:8  And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
Exo 13:9  And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD’S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.

The Hebrew word for ‘pass over’ in verse 5 is עבר ‘avar.’

Rom 3:24  being justified freely by His grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus,
Rom 3:25  whom God set forth as a propitiation through faith in His blood, as a demonstration of His righteousness through the passing over of the sins that had taken place before, in the forbearance of God,
Rom 3:26  for a demonstration of His righteousness in the present time, for His being just and justifying the one that is of the faith of Jesus.

The Greek word ‘passing over’ in verse 25 is πάρεσις ‘paresis’ which is translated in the King James Version as remission.  Webster defines remission as a ‘release,’ ‘forgiveness,’ or ‘pardon.’  The giving up of the punishment due to a crime.

The Hebrew letter tav is a picture of two crossed sticks:

It’s meaning is covenant.  The mark of YHWH is His covenant which is His Word (Isaiah 42:6; 49:8; Zechariah 9:11; Jeremiah 31:31; Matthew 26:28).

1Co 1:18  For the Word of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God.

Believers look to the Word of the cross.  The Word of the covenant.  Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

The covenant with YHWH is His Word which was cut with Abraham at Passover (Genesis 15) and eternally solidified at Passover when Messiah hung on the tree.
