Daily Tidbits 2/26 – War

War comes from the lust of Adam and Eve at the beginning when they were deceived by the adversary into taking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The first allusion to the beginning of the war between man and the serpent is seen in the making of girdles/aprons by Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:7).  The word for girdle is חגר ‘chagar’ which is also the word for arming for war.

Next is the promise of YHWH of the warfare between the two seeds with the promise of victory for mankind by the Seed of the woman, who is Messiah.

Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He will bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

The Hebrew word for enmity is איבה ‘eyvah’ which comes from the root אב which is the word for father.  The father is the support of the house, the tent pole, which was also used as a weapon against the enemies of the house.  Here the essence of the war is further displayed through the concept of father.  The Seed of the woman whose Father is YHWH vs. the seed of the serpent whose father is the devil.

Joh 8:44  You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. That one was a murderer from the beginning, and he has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, because he is a liar, and the father of it.

Notice that those who are of the devil, are overcome by lusts of the flesh.

Jas 4:1  From where do wars and fightings among you come? Is it not from this, from your lusts warring in your members?
Jas 4:2  You desire and do not have. You murder, and are jealous, and are not able to obtain. You fight and you war, and you do not have, because you do not ask.
Jas 4:3  You ask, and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, in order that you may spend on your lusts.
Jas 4:4  Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever, then, purposes to be a friend of the world is put down as hostile to God.
Jas 4:5  Or do you think that vainly the Scripture says, The spirit which has dwelt in us yearns to envy?
Jas 4:6  But He gives greater grace. Because of this it says, “God sets Himself against proud ones, but He gives grace to humble ones.” Prov. 3:34
Jas 4:7  Then be subject to God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.
Jas 4:8  Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners! And purify your hearts, double minded ones!
Jas 4:9  Be distressed, and mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy into shame.
Jas 4:10  Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.

This lust comes from the beginning.
Gen 3:1  And the serpent was cunning above every animal of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it true that God has said, You shall not eat from any tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2  And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden,
Gen 3:3  but of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.
Gen 3:4  And the serpent said to the woman, Dying you shall not die,
Gen 3:5  for God knows that in the day you eat of it, even your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as God, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6  And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and the tree was desirable to make one wise. And she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

The word for pleasant in Genesis 3:6 is תאוה ‘ta’vah’ which means lust, or greed or a desire.  The word for desire is חמד ‘chamad’ which means a burning desire or lust.  Here it is clear that what led Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit was fleshly lust.

Those whose Father is YHWH are born again in Messiah, the Word and die to the lusts of the flesh.
1Jn 5:1  Everyone believing that Jesus is the Christ has been generated from God. And everyone who loves Him who begets also loves the one who has been born of Him.
1Jn 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments.
1Jn 5:3  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not heavy.
1Jn 5:4  Because everything having been born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory overcoming the world, our faith.
1Jn 5:5  Who is the one overcoming the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1Jn 3:1  See what manner of love the Father has given us, that we may be called children of God. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now we are the children of God, and it was not yet revealed what we shall be. But we know that if He is revealed, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.
1Jn 3:3  And everyone having this hope on Him purifies himself even as that One is pure.
1Jn 3:4  Everyone practicing sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
1Jn 3:5  And you know that that One was revealed that He might take away our sins, and sin is not in Him.
1Jn 3:6  Everyone remaining in Him does not sin. Everyone sinning has not seen Him, nor known Him.
1Jn 3:7  Little children, let no one lead you astray; the one practicing righteousness is righteous, even as that One is righteous.
1Jn 3:8  The one practicing sin is of the devil, because the devil sins from the beginning. For this the Son of God was revealed, that He might undo the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9  Everyone who has been begotten of God does not sin, because His seed abides in him, and he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God.
1Jn 3:10  By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: Everyone not practicing righteousness is not of God; also the one not loving his brother.

The Hebrew word for ‘bruise’ in Genesis 3:15 is שוף ‘shuf’ which literally means the striking of a snake.  The serpent bruised the heel of Messiah at Calvary.

Isa 53:10  But Jehovah pleased to crush Him, to make Him sick, so that If He should put His soul as a guilt offering, He shall see His seed; He shall prolong His days; and the will of Jehovah shall prosper in His hand.

The word for bruise in Isaiah 53:10 is דכה ‘dakah’ which means to bruise or crush.  Literally it is speaking of the crushing of seeds in a cup by a mortar and pestle.  This points to the making of bread.

The Hebrew word for war is speaking of the process of making bread.

Gen 3:19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread until your return to the ground. For you have been taken out of it; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

War is over through the resurrection in Messiah.

Job 14:14 If a man dies, will he revive? All the days of my warfare I will wait, until my change comes.

Isa 40:2 Speak lovingly to the heart of Jerusalem; yea, cry to her that her warfare is done, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has taken from the hand of YHWH double for all her sins.

He gives us the bread that comes without toil
Rev 2:17 The one who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To the one overcoming, I will give him to eat from the hidden manna. And I will give to him a white stone, and on the stone a new name having been written, which no one knows except the one receiving it.
Joh 6:48 I am the Bread of life.
Joh 6:49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and died.
Joh 6:50 This is the Bread coming down out of Heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.
Joh 6:51 I am the Living Bread that came down from Heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever. And indeed the bread which I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Bread=His Flesh=Gospel

Man was made in the image of God (Genesis1:26)…Messiah is the God (Hebrews 1:3; 2 Corinthians 4:4), hence when we look at the human body it points to Messiah.  The body as a whole, and each individual body part speaks the Gospel.

The Gospel is connected w/flesh. Where is the first reference to flesh? The union of Adam and Eve…a picture of Jesus and His Bride becoming one is  the fulfillment of the Good News.

Gen 2:21  And YHWH God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept. And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh underneath.
Gen 2:22  And YHWH God formed the rib which He had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.
Gen 2:23  And the man said, This now at last is bone from my bones, and flesh from my flesh. For this shall be called Woman, because this has been taken out of man.
Gen 2:24  Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall become one flesh

Eph 5:30  For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.
Eph 5:31  “For this, a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.” Gen. 2:24
Eph 5:32  The mystery is great, but I speak as to Christ and as to the assembly.
The rib of Adam from whence his bride came out is linked to the number 5 which connects to the 5th day of creation and life.

‘Chamesh’ is used to translate multiple terms in Hebrew.  It is used for the number five/fifty, the hand, to be armed and the side of the body (fifth rib).

The ‘fifth rib’
H2570
חמשׁ
chômesh

This word is used in the following verses:
fifth, 4
2Sa_2:23, 2Sa_3:27, 2Sa_4:6, 2Sa_20:10

Messiah was wounded in the side (‘the fifth rib’).

Joh 19:34  But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a lance, and at once blood and water came out.

Adam’s bride came forth from his rib/side (Genesis 2:22) which is a picture of Messiah’s bride ‘coming forth’ when He offered Himself as an atonement to bring us back to Gid.  Interestingly, the year of Jubilee, which occurs every 50 (chamashim) years (Leviticus 25:10-13) began on the Day of Atonementclick here.  The great trumpet (Isaiah 27:13) will be blown and those resurrected in the 1st resurrection will receive their inheritance in the land.  This is interesting because the shofar is in the Fibonacci sequence which the pattern the Most High uses in His creation of life.  The Fibonacci sequence is encoded with the number 5.

Our ears are based upon the Fibonacci pattern:

Rom 10:16  But not all obeyed the gospel, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” Isa. 53:1
Rom 10:17  Then faith is of hearing, and hearing through the Word of God.
Rom 10:18  But I say, Did they not hear? Yes, rather, “into all the earth their voice went out, and to the ends of the world their words.” LXX-Psa. 18:5; MT-Psa. 19:4

Their voice went out.  What is the voice of the Word/Jesus likened to?  A Shofar (Revelation 1:10-11).  Which is in the Fibonacci pattern.

It is His Voice/Word that brings Life.
Isa 27:13  And it shall be in that day, the great ram’s horn shall be blown; and those perishing in the land of Assyria and the outcasts in the land of Egypt shall come and shall worship YHWH in the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
Joh 5:25  Truly, truly, I say to you that an hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and the ones hearing will live.
Joh 5:28  Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming in which all those in the tombs will hear His voice.
Joh 5:29  And they will come out, the ones having done good into a resurrection of life; and the ones having practiced evil into a resurrection of judgment.
Joh 11:43  And saying these things, He cried out with a loud voice, Lazarus! Here! Outside!
1Th 4:16  Because the Lord Himself shall come down from Heaven with a commanding shout of an archangel’s voice, and with God’s trumpet. And the dead in Christ will rise again first.
Mat 24:31  And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the heavens to their ends.
1Co 15:52  In a moment, in a glance of an eye, at the last trumpet; for a trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed.

Bread of His presence, the Showbread

Jesus is His paniym (presence, face)

Psa 42:5  O my soul, why are you cast down and moan within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet thank Him for the salvation of His presence.

Yeshua face

Psa 44:3  For they did not inherit the land with their own sword; yea, their own arm did not save them. But it was Your right hand (Messiah- Exo 15) and Your arm (Messiah Isa 53) and the light of Your face, because You favored them.

The Light of His Face is linked with the sound of the Shofar
Psa 89:15  Blessed is the people knowing the joyful sound; O YHWH, they shall walk in the light of Your face.

What is the joyful sound?  The sound of the Shofar & Trumpets.
Psa 98:5  Sing praise to YHWH with the lyre; with the lyre and the voice of a song.
Psa 98:6  With trumpets and the sound of a horn, make a joyful noise before YHWH the King.

The sound of the trumpets = the sound of His Word.
Num 10:2  Make two trumpets of silver for yourself. You shall make them of hammered work, and they shall be to you for the calling of the congregation, and for causing the camps to pull up stakes.
Psa 12:6  The Words of YHWH are pure Words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.

Amazingly, the word for shofar blast in Hebrew is תרועה ‘teruah’ which comes from the root רע ‘ra’ which is the sound that men make when going to war. This is also the Biblical feast of the return of the Messiah, the man of War who defeats His enemies while at the same time delivering His bride.

The word for army in Hebrew is צבא ‘tseva’ which comes from the root צב which literally means a tent wall, a place of protection.

The tent walls are also related to the stars/hosts/armies of  heaven.

The Hebrew word for star is ‘kochab’ which comes from the root ‘kab’ which further links to the body.

Messiah & His body
Jeremiah links the covenant/Word with the sun, moon and stars (Jeremiah 31:31-37; 33:14-26).  Joseph’s dream links the heavenly bodies to Israel (Genesis 37:9-10)
Stars

Gen 15:5  And He brought him outside and said, Look now at the heavens and count the stars, if you are able to count them. And He said to him, So shall your seed be.
Gen 15:6  And he believed in YHWH. And He counted it to him for righteousness.
Gen 22:16  And He said, I have sworn by Myself, declares YHWH, that on account of this thing you have done, and have not withheld your son, your only son,
Gen 22:17  that blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is on the shore of the sea. And your Seed shall possess the gate of His enemies.
Gen 22:18  And in your Seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because you have obeyed My voice.
Gen 26:4  And I will increase your seed like the stars of the heavens, and I will give to your seed all these lands. And all the nations of the earth shall bless themselves in your Seed,

Deu 1:10  YHWH your God has multiplied you, and, behold, today you are as the stars of heaven for multitude.
Exo 12:37  And the sons of Israel traveled from Rameses to Succoth, the men being about six hundred thousand on foot, apart from little ones.
Exo 12:38  And also a mixed multitude went up with them, and flocks, and herds, very many livestock.

Heavenly bodies = hosts/armies
Gen 2:1  Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Psa 33:6  By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Exo 7:4  And Pharaoh will not listen to you. And I will put My hand on Egypt, and will bring My armies, My people, the sons of Israel, from the land of Egypt with great judgments.
Exo 12:51  And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.

Adam Clarke
By their armies – צבאתם  tsibotham, from צבא  tsaba, to assemble, meet together, in an orderly or regulated manner, and hence to war, to act together as troops in battle; whence צבאות  tsebaoth, troops, armies, hosts. It is from this that the Divine Being calls himself יהוה צבאות  Yehovah tsebaoth, the Lord Of Hosts or armies, because the Israelites were brought out of Egypt under his direction, marshalled and ordered by himself, guided by his wisdom, supported by his providence, and protected by his might. This is the true and simple reason why God is so frequently styled in Scripture the Lord of hosts; for the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their Armies.

Jesus is YHWH tsevaot
Jos 5:14  And He said, No, for I now come as the Commander of the army of YHWH. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped. And he said to Him, What does my Lord speak to His slave?
Isa 55:4  Behold, I gave Him a Witness to peoples, a Leader and Commander of peoples.
Rev 19:11  And I saw Heaven being opened. And, behold! A white horse, and He sitting on it having been called Faithful and True. And He judges and wars in righteousness.
Rev 19:12  And His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head many diadems, having a name that had been written, which no one knows except Himself;
Rev 19:13  and having been clothed in a garment which had been dipped in blood. And His name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14  And the armies in Heaven followed Him on white horses, being dressed in fine linen, white and pure.

The Goat Hair Tent Jeff Benner

http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/33_tent.html

The house/dwelling place of man is a picture of the dwelling place of YHWH.

“Like any other cloth, there is space between the hair fabric. Light coming through the black roof appear as stars in the night sky. “He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in” (Isaiah 40.2). When the hair fibers get wet from the rains, the fibers expand, forming a watertight roof.”

“The size of the tent will depend on the size and wealth of the family. The wealthier families will have separate tents for the wife, such as Abraham had for Sarah. As the family grows, additional panels are added to increase the size of the tent. “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes” (Isaiah 54:2).”

Enlarging the family tent corresponds to the the stretching forth of the Heavens in the beginning.  This points to the ‘Son’.

As seen in Proverbs 8, The Scriptures speak of Wisdom as the master craftsman/builder in the beginning with the Father.  This word is  amon/amen which points to the Messiah.  Interestingly, the Hebrew word for build is ‘banah’ which comes from the same root as son, ‘ben’.

Jer 10:12  It is He who made the earth by His power*, who established the world by His wisdom, and who stretched out the heavens by His understanding.

*Messiah is His strength/powerStrength
**Messiah is Wisdomclick here

What is the Hebrew word for understanding?

H8394
תּובנה  /  תּבוּנה  /  תּבוּן
tâbûn  /  tebûnâh  /  tôbûnâh

This word comes from the same root as ‘ben’/son.

On a deeper level, the heavens point to the body of Messiah.  Paul speaks of the resurrected body we shall receive which is from heaven.

2Co 5:2  For also in this we groan, greatly desiring to be clothed with our dwelling place out of Heaven,

This is the body that shall be formed in His Image.

1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now we are the children of God, and it was not yet revealed what we shall be. But we know that if He is revealed, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.

His body is His house/tent
1Ti 3:15  But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Heb 3:6  But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
The stars are related to the appointed times as well.

Job 14:14  If a man dies, will he revive? All the days of my warfare (צבא) I will wait, until my change comes.

Isa 40:2  Speak lovingly to the heart of Jerusalem; yea, cry to her that her warfare** is done, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has taken from the hand of YHWH double for all her sins.

The warfare (tseba) is over through Messiah
Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He will bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.
Eph 2:13  But now, in Christ Jesus you who then were afar off, came to be near by the blood of Christ.
Eph 2:14  For He is our peace, He making us both one, and breaking down the middle wall of partition,
Eph 2:15  in His flesh causing to cease the enmity, the Law of the commandments in decrees, that He might in Himself create the two into one new man, making peace,
Eph 2:16  and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, slaying the enmity in Himself.
Col 2:13  And you, being dead in the deviations and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all the deviations,
Col 2:14  blotting out the handwriting in the ordinances against us, which was contrary to us, even He has taken it out of the midst, nailing it to the cross;
Col 2:15  having stripped the rulers and the authorities, He made a show of them in public, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16  Then do not let anyone judge you in eating, or in drinking, or in part of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths,
Col 2:17  which are a shadow of coming things, but the body is of Christ.
