WISDOM=TORAH/WORD
Jer 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?
Deu 4:5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Deu 4:6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Psa 119:97 MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Psa 119:98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
Psa 119:99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
Psa 119:100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
Sir 19:20 The fear of the Lord is all wisdom; and in all wisdom is the performance of the law, and the knowledge of his omnipotency.
Sir 19:20 All wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and in all wisdom there is the fulfilment of the law.
Psa 37:30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks judgment.
Psa 37:31 The Law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slide.
Ezr 7:14 Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;
Ezr 7:25 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.
Sir 1:26 If thou desire wisdom, keep the commandments, and the Lord shall give her unto thee.
Wis 7:24 For wisdom is more moving than any motion: she passeth and goeth through all things by reason of her pureness.
Wis 7:25 For she is the breath (Spirit) of the power of God*, and a pure influence flowing from the glory of the Almighty: therefore can no defiled thing fall into her.
*Through studying words by their Biblical Definitions I have come to see that over and over again, the LORD, the Holy Spirit, the Word and Jesus are described by the same words. Wisdom, Righteousness, Truth, Light etc…
Wis 7:26 For she is the brightness of the everlasting light, the unspotted mirror of the power of God, and the image of his goodness.
Wis 7:27 And being but one, she can do all things: and remaining in herself, she maketh all things new: and in all ages entering into holy souls, she maketh them friends of God, and prophets.
Wis 7:28 For God loveth none but him that dwelleth with wisdom.
Wis 6:17 For the very true beginning of her is the desire of discipline; and the care of discipline is love;
Wis 6:18 And love is the keeping of her laws; and the giving heed unto her laws is the assurance of incorruption;
Wis 6:19 And incorruption maketh us near unto God:
Pro 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
Pro 2:2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Pro 2:3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
Pro 2:4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Pro 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Pro 8:1 Does not wisdom call? And does not understanding speak?
Pro 8:2 She stands in the top of high places, by the wayside, in the houses of the paths,
Pro 8:3 beside the gates; at the mouth of the city, at the doors, she cries.
Pro 8:4 I call to you, O men, and my voice is to the sons of men.
Pro 8:5 Understand wisdom, simple ones; and fools, be of an understanding heart.
Pro 8:6 Hear, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips shall be right things.
Pro 8:7 For my mouth shall speak of truth (Torah, Messiah), and wickedness is hateful to my lips.
Pro 8:8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; nothing crooked or perverse is in them;
Pro 8:9 they are all plain to the understanding one; and right to those who find knowledge.
Pro 8:10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge, rather than choice gold.
Pro 8:11 For wisdom is better than jewels, and all delights cannot be compared to it.
Pro 8:12 I, wisdom, dwell with sense, and I find knowledge of discretions.
Pro 8:13 The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil; I hate pride and loftiness, and the evil way, and the perverse mouth.
Pro 8:14 Counsel and sound wisdom are mine; I am understanding; I have strength.
Pro 8:15 By me kings reign, and leaders decree righteousness.
Pro 8:16 Rulers and nobles rule by me, and all the judges of the earth.
Pro 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me early find me.
Pro 8:18 Riches and honor are with me; enduring wealth and righteousness.
Pro 8:19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my increase is better than the best silver.
Pro 8:20 I walk in the path of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice;
Pro 8:21 to cause those who love me to inherit wealth, and I will fill up their treasuries.
Pro 8:22 Jehovah possessed me in the beginning of His way, from then, before His works.
Pro 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from that which was before the earth. (Wisdom by the side of God before creation)
Pro 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no springs heavy with water.
Pro 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth;
Pro 8:26 before He had made the earth and the fields, or the highest part of the dust of the world.
Pro 8:27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there; when He set a circle on the face of the deep,
Pro 8:28 when He formed the clouds above, when He made the strong fountains of the deep,
Pro 8:29 when He gave to the sea its limit, that the waters should not pass beyond His command; when He decreed the foundations of the earth,
Pro 8:30 then I was at His side, like a master workman; and I was His delights day by day, rejoicing before Him at every time;
Pro 8:31 rejoicing in the world, His earth; and my delight was with the sons of men.
Pro 8:32 And now listen to me, O sons, for blessed are those who keep my ways.
Pro 8:33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and do not refuse it.
Pro 8:34 Blessed is the man listening to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
Pro 8:35 For whoever finds me finds life, and he shall obtain favor from Jehovah.
Pro 8:36 But he who sins against me does violence to his own soul; all who hate me love death.
JESUS IS WISDOM
1Co 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1Co 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
By the Throne of God
Wis 9:4 give me the wisdom that sits by thy throne, and do not reject me from among thy servants.
Jesus refers to Himself as Wisdom
Mat 23:34 Because of this, behold, I send to you prophets and wise ones and scribes. And some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and will persecute from city to city;
Luk 11:49 And because of this, the wisdom of God said, I will send prophets and apostles to them, and they will kill and drive out some of them,
Enoch 42:1-2 speaks of Wisdom dwelling in heaven, coming to earth and then returning to heaven among the angels on to return in Messianic times.
Creation
Universe created through Wisdom
Pro 3:19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
Jer 10:12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
Jer 51:15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.
Universe created through the Word
Psa 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Heb 11:3 By faith we understand the ages to have been framed by the Word of God, so that the things seen should not come into being out of things that appear.
2Pe 3:5 For this is hidden from them by their willing it so, that heavens were of old, and earth by water, and through water, having subsisted by the Word of God,
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.
Universe created through Messiah
Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Pro 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Jesus is the LORD as can be seen by comparing Colossians 1:16 and Proverbs 16:4. For more on this study click here. There are many today who are denying the deity of Messiah as being something that is not Scriptural, but this is a total fallacy.
Heb 1:2 in these last days He spoke to us in the Son, whom He appointed heir of all; through whom He indeed made the ages;
Heb 1:3 who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image of His essence, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, having made purification of our sins through Himself, He sat down on the right of the Majesty on high, Psa. 110:1
Rev 4:11 Lord, You are worthy to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because You created all things, and through Your will they exist and were created.
Eph 3:9 and to bring to light all, what is the fellowship of the mystery having been hidden from eternity in God, the One creating all things through Jesus Christ,
Wisdom of the world
Wisdom of this world is foolish
Sir 19:24 He that hath small understanding, and feareth God, is better than one that hath much wisdom, and transgresseth the law of the most High.
Pro 21:30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
1Co 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1Co 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1Co 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
1Co 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1Co 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1Co 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1Co 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
1Co 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1Co 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1Co 1:31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Mat 11:26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Isa 29:14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
Isa 33:18 Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1Co 3:20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
God does not respect those wise in their own eyes
1Co 4:6 And, brothers, I transferred these things to myself and Apollos because of you, that in us you may learn not to think above what has been written, that you not be puffed up one over the other.
Rom 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
The Scriptures are the source of ALL Wisdom. Anyone who comes against the Word, no matter how many degrees, doctorates, television shows or conferences they teach at are not walking in Wisdom.
Job 37:24 So, men, fear Him; He does not see any who are wise of heart.
Job 38:1 And Jehovah answered Job out of the tempest and said:
Job 38:2 Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
Job 38:3 Now gird up your loins like a man, for I will question you; and you teach Me.
Job 38:4 Where were you when I founded the earth? Declare if you know understanding.
Rom 12:3 For through the grace which is given to me, I say to everyone being among you, not to have high thoughts beyond what is right to think. But set your mind to be right-minded, even as God divided a measure of faith to each.
Isa 5:21 Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and discerning in their own sight!
1Co 2:4 And my word and my preaching was not in enticing words of human wisdom, but in proof of the Spirit and of power,
1Co 2:5 that your faith might not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1Co 2:6 But we speak wisdom among the perfect, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, those being brought to nothing.
1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, having been hidden, which God predetermined before the ages for our glory,
1Co 2:8 which none of the rulers of this age has known. For if they had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
1Co 2:9 according as it has been written, “Eye has not seen, and ear has not heard,” nor has it risen up into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those that love Him. Isa. 64:4
1Co 2:10 But God revealed them to us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
1Co 2:11 For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of a man within him? So also no one has known the things of God except the Spirit of God.
1Co 2:12 But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit from God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.
1Co 2:13 Which things we also speak, not in words taught in human wisdom, but in Words taught of the Holy Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.
1Co 2:14 But a natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 2:15 But the spiritual one discerns all things, but he is discerned by no one.
1Co 2:16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord?” “Who will teach Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. Isa. 40:13
1Co 3:18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks to be wise among you in this age, let him become foolish, that he may become wise.
1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it has been written, “He takes the wise in their own craftiness.” Job 5:13
1Co 3:20 And again, “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are worthless.” LXX-Psa. 93:11; MT-Psa. 94:11
1Co 3:21 So let no one glory in men; for all things are yours,
1Co 3:22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours,
1Co 3:23 and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.
2Co 1:12 For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we had our conduct in the world in simplicity and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom, but in the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.
Isa 5:20 Woe to those who say to evil, good; and to good, evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isa 5:21 Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and discerning in their own sight!
Isa 5:22 Woe to those mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mix fermented drink;
Isa 5:23 who justify the wicked for a bribe, and turn aside the righteousness of the righteous from him!
Isa 5:24 So, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and the flame burns up the chaff; their root shall be like rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up like dust, because they have rejected the Law of Jehovah of Hosts; and despised the Word of the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 29:10 For Jehovah has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes. He has covered the prophets and your heads, the seers.
Isa 29:11 And the whole vision to you is like the words of a sealed book which they give to one knowing books, saying, Please read this. Then he says, I am not able, for it is sealed.
Isa 29:12 And the book is given to one who does not know books, saying, Please read this. Then he says, I do not know books.
Isa 29:13 And the Lord says, Because this people draws near with its mouth, and they honor Me with its lip; but its heart is far from Me, and their fear of Me is taught by the commandments of men;
Isa 29:14 So, behold, I am adding to do wonderfully with this people, the wonder, even a wonder. For the wisdom of his wise ones shall perish, and the wit of his witty ones shall be hidden.
Looking at these verses in Isaiah indicate that not only is academic knowledge (which is in opposition to the Word) of the world considered foolish and not wisdom, but the teachings of religious people who are gaining their knowledge from seminaries and men with papers on the wall with their names on them and not from the Holy Spirit. The Pharisees of Jesus’ time knew a lot about the Scriptures but they were of their father the devil. Knowledge is not always the same as wisdom. Wisdom comes ONLY from Jesus. To deny Him is to deny Wisdom.
Isa 29:15 Woe to those who go deep to hide their purposes from Jehovah; yea, their works are in the dark; and they say, Who sees us? And, Who knows us?
Isa 29:16 Oh your perversity! Shall the former be counted as the clay? For shall the work of its maker say, He did not make me? Or shall the thing formed say to him who formed it, He does not understand?
Isa 29:17 Is it not yet a little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field; and the fruitful field shall be counted for the forest?
Isa 29:18 And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book; and the eyes of the blind shall see out of their gloom and out of darkness.
Isa 29:19 And the humble ones shall increase joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
It was the fishermen and the tax-collectors, the adulterers, the poor, the sick, the lame, the lepers that followed Jesus. The rich could not let go of their religious ties because of the power and authority they had over the people because of it. So too today, many can’t let go of their religious doctrine, even if proven wrong, because they have authority and steady income coming as a result of teaching what they learned from seminary.
Isa 29:20 For the terrible one is brought to nothing; and the scorner is ended; and all that watch for iniquity are cut off;
Isa 29:21 those who make a man sin by a word, even laying a trap for the reprover in the gate, and turn aside the just for a worthless thing.
Isa 29:22 So Jehovah says this: He who redeemed Abraham, as to the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not be ashamed now, nor shall his face become pale now.
Isa 29:23 But when he sees his children in his midst, the work of My hands, they shall sanctify My name. They shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
Isa 29:24 Those who erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and those who murmured shall learn the instruction.
Paul was a scholar but considered what he learned as dung in comparison to faith in Messiah.
Php 3:5 in circumcision, the eighth day, of the race of Israel, the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; according to Law, a Pharisee;
Php 3:6 according to zeal, persecuting the assembly; according to righteousness in Law, being blameless.
Php 3:7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss because of Christ.
Php 3:8 But, no, rather I also count all things to be loss because of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them to be trash, that I might gain Christ
Php 3:9 and be found in Him; not having my own righteousness of Law, but through the faith of Christ, having the righteousness of God on faith,
Php 3:10 to know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, having been conformed to His death,
Php 3:11 if somehow I may attain to a resurrection out of the dead.
It is the meek and humble that can receive true wisdom
Pro 11:2 Pride comes, then shame comes, but with the lowly is wisdom.
Isa 29:19 And the humble ones shall increase joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 29:24 Those who erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and those who murmured shall learn the instruction.
Isa 28:9 To whom shall He teach knowledge? And to whom shall He explain the message? Those weaned from milk, those moving from breasts?
Psa 131:1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. O Jehovah, my heart is not proud, nor have my eyes been lofty; nor have I walked in great things, nor in things too wondrous for me.
Psa 131:2 Surely I have set myself and have quieted my soul, like one weaned by its mother; my soul on me is like one weaned.
1Pe 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
