Democrats retained control in both Houses of Congress through the 1836 election which kept James Polk as Speaker of the House through the 25th Congress.

As seen in the previous article, James Polk’s name is speaking of the victory of the Seed of the woman over the adversary of mankind. This victory is accomplished through the death of Messiah at Calvary which was foreshadowed in Abel’s death at the hands of Cain (Hebrews 12:24).

James means a supplanter or heel grabber and refers to warfare or conflict.

His middle name was Knox. Knox is a Scottish surname which comes from the Old English ‘cnocc’ meaning ’round hill.’

Polk is an abbreviated form of the Scottish name Pollack, meaning ‘from the pool or pit’ from the Gaelic word ‘poll’ meaning a ‘pool.’ In German, Polk means ‘great glory’ (Psalm 29:10).

Here we see the heel grabber or bruiser (Genesis 3:15) overcome by the Seed of the woman on a ’round hill’ (Calvary – Luke 23:33) which brings great glory.
