Willie Mangum was elected as President Pro Tempore after Samuel Southard left office due to poor health. As a result, Mangum would be next in line of Presidential succession for the remainder of John Tyler‘s Presidency. As with Southard, Henry Clay was the ‘power’ behind Mangum. Clay’s name meaning is speaking of man’s dominion on the earth which at this time in history was in the hands of the giants. Mangum’s name meaning is speaking of Noah’s deliverance from the hands of these wicked beings and the Flood which God would send to destroy them.

Willie is a diminutive of William which is a combination of the Germanic words ‘wil’ meaning desire and ‘helm’ meaning protection.

Person is a variant of the Old English name Parsons which means a clergyman. A clergyman is a religious leader. These two names point to Noah, the ‘religious leader’ of his day, the inheritor of the promise of the Seed of the woman (2 Peter 2:5).

Mangum comes from the Gaelic surname ‘O Mongain’ which comes from the word ‘mongach’ which means hairy. The Hebrew word for hairy is סער ‘se’ar’ which is also translated as goat as the thick hair of goats were used to make tents in ancient times. This Hebrew word for goat is also translated as ‘devil’ as seen in Leviticus 17:7.

The origin of the Mystery religions comes from these days of the giants. This religious system is the origin of “sacrificing to the devils” spoken of in the aforementioned verse of Scripture.

Leviticus 17:7 And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.
