The Presidents Code – President Pro Tempore Samuel Livermore (2)
Samuel Livermore became President Pro Tempore for the second time during the 6th Congress. His name meaning is depicting the relationship that Adam and Eve had in the Garden of Eden with God where He spoke to them in the cool of the day.
Samuel comes from the Hebrew name שמואל ‘Shemuel’ which means God hears. This is pointing to the time of Adam and Eve in the Garden in which they heard God’s voice when He would converse with them in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8).
Livermore is of Old English origin tracing back to the words ‘lifer’ meaning liver and ‘mere’ meaning a pond or lake. The Hebrew word for liver is כבד ‘kavad’ which also means glory as the liver the heaviest of the organs in the body and glory is equated with one who is ‘weighty’ in importance. This too points to God speaking to Adam in Eve in the Garden as His voice is spoken of in Scripture as His Glory and an abundance of waters (Ezekiel 43:2-5; 1:28).
