John Tyler served as President Pro Tempore for the last months of the 23rd Congress and the first year of the 24th. He supported Andrew Jackson in the 1828 election against John Quincy Adams but like numerous other Jackson supporters, Tyler soon became his opponent and joined the Whig party. Tyler’s name meaning is speaking of God’s grace and protection which was given to Cain after he murdered his brother.

John means the grace of Yah.

Tyler is from an English surname meaning the ’tiler of roofs,’ or it could be said, one who covers the roof of a home which protects the dwellers therein from the elements.

After Cain murdered his brother Abel and was punished by God, he feared retribution from those who might find him. In His grace, the Lord set a mark upon Cain which protected him from others who might try to slay him (Genesis 4:14-15). Interestingly, Tyler was good friends with former President Pro Tempore Littleton Tazewell naming one of his children Tazewell. In the Presidents Code, Tazewell portrayed the life of Cain.

Tyler would later become President corresponding with the days of Noah and the Flood which is yet another display of the warfare between the two seeds of Genesis 3.
