Shadows of Messiah – The Presidents Code

Shadows of Messiah - Presidents Code

Following is a short description of the ‘Presidents Code‘ which is in the process of being assembled in a four volume series of books.  The Presidents Code reveals that the history of the United States is a giant parable displaying the narrative of the Holy Bible.

The Presidents Code is a ‘cypher’ based upon the name meanings of the U.S. Presidents. Amazingly, their name meanings tell the story of the Biblical text, from the beginning of creation unto the coming of Messiah. In and of itself this is an incredible display of the Hand of God directing the course of history in America. However, this is just the start. Based upon the premise of this code, it is seen that the very characters of the Presidents, from their personal characters to the events that occurred during their Presidencies reveal in parable form the exact same events of the Biblical narrative of which their name meanings describe.

Additionally, the wars which have occurred, the changes in the monetary system, the ‘party systems’ and political realignments which have occurred in this country’s history follow this ‘code’ as well.

Furthermore, the name meanings of the heads of the other two branches of government line up with perfect precision to the name meanings of the Presidents they serve with. The Vice Presidents, Speakers of the House, Chief Justices, President Pro Tempores and more recently the Senate and House Majority Leaders as well as the Chiefs of Staffs all fit into this code with such exactness that it cannot be denied that the Hand of the Creator is steering the course of this nation.

The word ‘president’ comes from the Latin word ‘praesidentum’ which means to ‘act as head or chief.’  As seen in the previous tidbit, the human head consists of 22 bones corresponding to the 22 letters of the Hebrew Alphabet, the Word.  The role of the President of the United States, the ‘head’ of the nation is to ‘execute’ the precepts in the Constitution, the law or ‘Word.’  To preserve and defend this document.  Presidents swear an oath of office to do this very thing, while holding their hands on a Bible.

The wording is specified in Article Two, Section One, Clause Eight:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The English word constitution traces back to the Hebrew word כנס ‘kanas’ which means to gather together.  This is what the constitution or law is designed to due, to bring unity to a people.  כנס ‘kanas’ comes from the root כן ‘ken’ which is also the root of the word כהן ‘kohen’ which is the Hebrew word for priest.  A priest was to be a support of the community who upheld the law of the land.

The office of the President was designed by the Founder’s to be one of three branches of government (Executive branch) based upon the Holy Scriptures.

Isa 33:22  For Jehovah is our judge; Jehovah is our lawgiver; Jehovah is our king; He will save us.

Samuel Adams described this type of government as enthroning Jesus as the King of this country:

“We have this day restored the Sovereign to whom all alone men ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven, and with a propitious eye beholds his subjects assuming that freedom of thought, and dignity of self-direction which He bestowed on them. From the rising to the setting sun, may His kingdom come.”  {Samuel Adams speech to the Continental Congress 7/4/1776}

Patrick Henry boldly declared: “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians: not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” {May 1765 Speech to the House of Burgesses}

The Founders based their concept of government on the writings of men such as John Locke.

“As Men we have God for our King, and are under the Law of Reason; as Christians, we have Jesus the Messiah for our King, and are under the Law reveal’d by him in the Gospel.” {John Locke – The Reasonableness of Christianity}

De Witt Clinton said:
“Christianity, in its essence, its doctrines, and its forms, is republican…”

“The tendency of the true Gospel principles is to bring the most absolute despotism under the limits of law; to imbue limited monarchies more and more with the spirit of popular institutions; to prepare the people to govern themselves; and finally to establish everywhere the spirit and the reality, if not the very forms of a republic.

Let us turn once more to the republican features of the churches organized by the Apostles.  These churches had officers, which were to be regarded and observed, in their proper sphere, as much as the officers of any other republic.  But the manner of their ruling was not to be as ‘Lords over God’s heritage’; ‘Whosever will be chief among you’, said the Saviour, ‘let him be your servant.’ ” {The Christian History of the Constitution of the United States of America – Verna hall pg 28}

In light of this fact, it is intriguing to find that the meaning of the names of the 44 U.S. Presidents tells the story of the Holy Scriptures.

Following is the meaning of the President’s names in ‘story form.’  The words that correspond to the names of the Presidents are in bold.

In the beginning, God planted a garden eastward in Eden from in the midst of which was a river.  In His grace, He put man in the garden.  Into the Garden entered a stranger (the serpent) who took  peace from the man when he brought doubt to Adam and Eve, causing the to partook of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of which they were commanded not to eat.  This brought man and woman into captivity to sin.  This subtil deception of the serpent brought warfare between his seed, and the seed of the woman.  In this battle, the grace of God is promised to man through the Seed of the woman.  This warfare of the two seeds is early displayed in the account of Abel and Cain, who became a builder of cities.

Following these days, man multiplied upon the earth and filled the earth with violence.  Noah found grace in the eyes of God and was commanded to build an arkGod remembered Noah and stopped the flood waters.  Noah left the ark when the earth was dried and God cut a covenant with him to never again destroy the earth with a flood.

Noah became a man of the earth and planted a vineyard and drank the wine thereof.  His son Ham saw his father’s nakedness which led to the cursing of his son Canaan and the blessing of Shem.  Canaan was cursed to be a slave while Shem was declared the ‘freeman’  of God.

70 nations came forth from the sons of Noah during which time Nimrod rose to power, ‘a mighty hunter before the Lord.‘  He was a false branch, a false messiah who led mankind astray.

The Almighty then called Abraham and promised to make him a father of a multitude, called to walk in His ways.  Through Abraham was promised Seed, the Son of God who would bring grace to mankind.  Isaac brought forth Jacob and Esau, whose relationship was defined by  hatred where the elder  would serve the younger.  The hatred of Esau, known as Edom, towards his brother caused Jacob to flee to Padan-Aram where he would live with Laban.  Jacob served Laban for 20 years as a shepherd in the open fields.  Laban deceived Jacob on numerous occasions as he dwelt as a foreigner in a strange land.  It was in this strange land that the 12 tribes of Israel were born.

On his way back to Canaan, Jacob wrestled with a Man where he was renamed Israel.  Called to rule with God, the Rock of Ages.  Israel/Jeshurun was to be a king/priest to the nations, dwelling in the land of Israel.  A shadow picture of Messiah, the Son of the Right Hand, who will rule all nations in the Kingdom.

After Shechem, the son of Hamor defiled Jacob’s daughter Dinah, Simeon and Levi destroyed the people of the land.  Jacob worried that the inhabitants of the land would seek to attack him because of this.  Jacob desired protection from the Most High.  Jacob then rose up to go to Bethel, where he was first given the promise of Abraham by God (Genesis 28:11-22).  On the way, Jacob tells his children to cleanse their clothing and put away the strange gods from their midst.

It is here that God puts fear into the hearts of the inhabitants of the land, giving Jacob his desired protection.  The helmet of salvation (1Thessalonians 5:8; Genesis 49:18), the gift of God, the Rose of Sharon, The Good shepherd who defends and guards His sheep.  The Good Shepherd fills the mouths of His sheep with good things, even in the midst of darkness and famine He protects and defends them as they travel down into Egypt, the ‘dark city.’

Israel went down into Egypt and dwelt in Goshen, which was a gift of the Most High to increase his seed in a place of ‘hardiness‘ a midst famine, a ‘baldness‘ of the land.  Here Israel dwelt in Egypt, yet was separated from the people of the land as shepherds were an abomination.  Here Israel multiplied in numbers to become an army of those who were to bear the Word.  For a time, Israel was a freeman dwelling in the ‘wetlands‘ of the Nile Delta, likened unto a rose.  In time, a Pharaoh who ‘knew not Joseph’ rose to power and came to hate Israel, leading them into bondage.  God heard the cries of His servant Israel and rose up a trusty man named Moses who was saved as a baby on an ark.

God called Moses from the mountain of God, to deliver His beloved people from the bondage of Pharaoh, from the midst of the ‘iron furnace‘ where Israel would rejoice and sing praise to their God.  By the grace of God, Moses came with the rod of God and delivered Israel.  He led the vine of Israel to the promised land the ‘camp of God‘, as they were cleansed from the defilements of Egypt.

The people of Israel were victorious over the nations of Canaan and became rulers/priests to the nations in the land that does not lack bread.  Ruling over the nations with a ‘rod of iron.’  However, Jeshurun ‘waxed fat’ and became like unto a rebellious heifer.  Wolves entered the flock and led the people into the false worship of the MysteriesIsrael rebelled against the Most High and desired a king.  Israel backslid and turned away from the commandments, ‘traversing on the waters‘ of Babylon.

The LORD raised up a noble warrior to be king of Jacob, named David, during whose days He brought back the ark of the covenant from the Philistines on a cart.

Solomon, the wise counselor, became king after David and reigned in peace.  However, his rebellion against the Most High caused by foreign wives led to the dividing of the kingdom of Israel.  It was the unwise counsel of Rehoboam that ultimately led to the split between the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah where Rehoboam only retained 2 tribes, thus becoming a ‘little king.’

During the days of the kings of Israel, the armies of Israel become more and more wicked, walking in the ways of the heathen until the King of Assyria was brought through the Fullers Field, leading Israel into exile.  Israel desired peace, but did not obey the voice of the Lord which brings peace.  Hence, a stranger entered their territory  and took away their peace and took them hostage to their shame.

However, even in exile, God spoke through the mouth of the prophets giving Israel ‘cheerful‘ hope that if they broke up their fallow ground, He would come and rain righteousness and peace upon them.  If they would do this, He would bring shame  upon their enemies and wash them of their iniquities.

He promised send His messenger to prepare His way when He comes like a refiner’s fire and like fuller‘s soap.  The blessed one, the beautiful one would descend from the throne on High and take upon the sins of mankind to deliver them from the punishment of sin.

This concludes the meaning of the names of the Presidents of the United States from George Washington to Barack Obama in “story form.”  The “story” is further expounded when adding the name meanings of the Vice Presidents, Speakers of the House, Chief Justices, President Pro Tempores, Majority Leaders and White House Chief of Staffs.

Following is a more detailed explanation:

George Washington 4/30/1789-3/4/1797

The Presidency of George Washington is a picture of the beginning of Creation, in particular the planting of the Garden of Eden by God, and the placing of man into the Garden.

George comes from the Greek word Γεωργιος ‘Georgios’ which means a farmer, one who works the earth. The Almighty is described as the “farmer” who planted the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Scripture likens God to a farmer, in fact He is the first farmer. This is seen in Matthew 13:37-43 in the parable of the sower as well as in Isaiah 28:23-29 where the prophet speaks of God teaching man how to farm. In John 15:1, the Father is called a ‘husbandman’ which in the Greek is γεωργός ‘georgos.‘ This word is the origin of the name George.

Washington means a people on a hill by a river, pointing to the Garden of Eden, the Mount or hill of God (Ezekiel 28:13-14) from whence sprang four rivers (Genesis 2:10). It is interesting to note that the United States was referred to as a ‘city on a hill’ by the Founders of this nation, referring back to the words of Jesus Christ in reference to this heavenly hill of God (Matthew 5:14).  America is also a place of many rivers which the prophet Isaiah may have foresaw thousands of years ago (Isaiah 18:7).

Here we see a pretty clear picture in the meaning of Washington’s name of the account in Genesis 2 where God the Father plants a garden called Eden. Further connecting the beginning of mankind’s history with the beginning of our Nation’s history is George Washington’s belief of the United States being formed by the Mighty Hand of God.

The name meanings of Washington and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

In the beginning, the Father planted a Garden on a hill with rivers, known as the Garden of Eden.  Man was placed in the camp of the Lord.  Man was called to rule in this peaceful mountain land and was given a mouth to speak unlike the other animals which God had created and whom Adam was given dominion over.  God commanded Adam to be fruitful and multiply.  He was placed in Paradise, a land of perfect liberty, where he was naked and innocent.  Adam was placed in the Garden and commanded to dress and to keep it, he was to be the guardian of the Garden.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President George Washington:  In the beginning, the Father planted a Garden on a hill with rivers

Vice President John Adams:  Adam placed in the Garden of Eden

Speaker of the House Frederick Muhlenberg: Adam is appointed as ruler of the Garden, given a mouth to speak and called to be fruitful and increase.

President Pro Tempore John Langdon: Adam is placed in the Garden of Eden, the land of liberty.

Chief Justice John Jay:  Adam was naked and not ashamed in the Garden.

Speaker of the House Jonathan Trumbull: God gives Adam dominion over the earth.

President Pro Tempore Richard Henry Lee: Adam is given dominion over the earth

President Pro Tempore John Langdon: Adam is placed in the Garden of Eden, the land of liberty.

Speaker of the House Frederick Muhlenberg: Adam is appointed as ruler of the Garden, given a mouth to speak and called to be fruitful and increase.

President Pro Tempore Ralph Izard: Adam’s dominion and innocency

Chief Justice John Rutledge: Adam is placed in the Garden

Speaker of the House Jonathan Dayton: Adam is given the Garden of Eden, a land ‘flowing with milk and honey.’

President Pro Tempore Henry Tazewell: Adam is the ‘home ruler’ of the Garden of Eden

Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth: Adam came forth from God and was created sinless by His God.

President Pro Tempore Samuel Livermore: Adam’s communion with God in the Garden.

President Pro Tempore William Bingham: God commands Adam to dress and keep the Garden.

Washington’s Presidency depicts the role of God as Father. The ‘first,’ the ‘source,’ the ‘strong leader’ and General. Even the establishing of ‘precedents’ by Washington corresponds with the laws instituted by God which following generations would follow.

John Adams Federalist – 3/4/1797-3/4/1801

The Presidency of John Adams is picture of the days of Adam in the Garden. Adam was given a help-meet who became his wife, a gift from the Most High. He was called to work the garden and to guard it. However, Adam did not fully perform his duties and would allow the serpent to sneak into Eden.

John comes from the Hebrew name יוֹחָנָן ‘Yochanan’ which means God is gracious or the camp of God.

Adams comes from the Hebrew word אדם ‘Adam’ meaning man. Here we see the Lord, by His grace, putting Adam in the Garden of Eden, the camp of God (Hebrews 12:22).

Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

The name meanings of Adams and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The Lord placed Adam in the Garden of Eden, His camp.  God saw that it was not good for man to be alone so He gave him a ‘helpmeet’ to ‘complete’ him where they would both dwell in a ‘land flowing with milk and honey.’  From this time on, man would leave father and mother and be joined to his wife.  Adam was rewarded with a Paradisaical land and a wife.  This gift of God was given to man but he was also given the responsibility to keep and guard it.  Eden would be a land of God’s grace for Adam if he obeyed God and avoided the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  It would be a land where God would speak directly to mankind where His Glory could dwell.  His Presence would abide with Adam as long as he was faithful to dress and keep this land.  Adam was given dominion over all the earth but but would not fully perform his duty and eventually would allow the enemy to creep into this Paradise that God had given him.

President John Adams: Adam is placed in the Garden of Eden.

Vice President Thomas Jefferson: Adam is given an helpmeet for a wife.

Speaker of the House Jonathan Dayton: Adam and Eve dwell together in Paradise, a land flowing with milk and honey.

President Pro Tempore William Bradford:  Adam becomes head of the family unit.

President Pro Tempore Jacob Read: Eve is given to Adam as a reward from God.

President Pro Tempore Theodore Sedgwick: The Garden and Eve are gifts from God to Adam.

President Pro Tempore John Laurance:  Adam dwells in the land of God’s grace and is commanded not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

President Pro Tempore James Ross:  Adam dwells in the holy mountain of God.

Speaker of the House Theodore Sedgwick: Adam is commanded to keep and dress this land that ‘flows with milk and honey.’

President Pro Tempore Samuel Livermore:  God walks and talks with Adam in the cool of the day.

President Pro Tempore Uriah Tracy: God’s Presence dwelt with Adam, the guardian of the Garden.

President Pro Tempore John E. Howard: Adams dwells in Paradise and is given dominion over this land.

Chief Justice John Marshall: Adam is the guardian of God’s camp.

President Pro Tempore James Hillhouse: God gives Adam His holy hill.

The character of John Adams depicts well Adam in the Garden. He was looked upon his peers as a man of unquestionably integrity, just as Adam was created sinless. He was a Son of Liberty who stressed virtue amongst his cabinet and inhabitants of America. The Alien and Sedition Acts were his downfall which point to Adam’s inability to protect the Garden from the serpent.

Thomas Jefferson Democratic-Republican 3/4/1801-3/4/1809

Thomas Jefferson‘s presidency is a picture of the serpent who deceived Eve by bringing doubt to the Word of God (Genesis 3:1-5). Thomas comes from the Hebrew word תָּאוֹמָא ‘ta’oma’ which means a twin in Hebrew and is linked to doubt in Scripture (John 20:27). Doubt is the tool that the adversary used to deceived Eve, “hath God said?”

Jefferson means son of Geoffrey.  Geoffrey is a Germanic word consisting of ‘gawia’ meaning territory, ‘walah’ meaning stranger, ‘gisil’ meaning hostage and ‘frid’ meaning peace.  Here in this name is a depiction of a stranger who enters a territory and takes peace hostage.  This is what the serpent did when he entered the Garden of Eden and led Adam and Eve to partake of the fruit which they were commanded not to eat (Matthew 13:25, 39). This sin took peace from mankind leading to continuous warfare and conflict throughout man’s history (James 4:1; 3:14-18; Genesis 3:15).

Thomas Jefferson’s character and the character of his presidency falls in line with his name meaning. Jefferson believed in the God of the Bible (James 2:19), but doubted the Word. So too with the serpent of old (Genesis 3:1; James 2:19). Jefferson was a Unitarian which is a belief system that proclaims belief in one God but denies the divinity of Jesus. Unitarians admit that Jesus was a great man and prophet of God and perhaps even a supernatural being but not one with God as Scripture proclaims (John 10:30).

The name meanings of Jefferson and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The adversary broke into the Garden of Eden and deceived Adam and Eve by putting doubt upon the Word of God, stealing peace from the land.  He came as an ‘angel of light’ but in reality brought a curse upon mankind.  The gift that God had given Adam was infiltrated by serpent.  Adam and Eve had been commanded by God to not partake of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  They were to have dominion over the earth and dwell in God’s Paradise of liberty.  However, when Adam and Eve were tested they failed to guard this land as commanded as lost their possession and their freedom.  They assembled into the midst of the Garden to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and become cursed because of it.  They hid from God when they heard His voice but were not able to escape His punishment.  The serpent sneaked into the Garden of Eden and deceived Adam and Eve by adding to the Word of God and offering them a false freedom.  Adam and Eve had sinned and needed to cover their nakedness.  They lost their dominion and their freedom.  Yet, God in His grace still covered their nakedness and gave them the promise of a Savior.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Thomas Jefferson: The serpent brings doubt to Adam and Eve and deceives them into eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Vice President Aaron Burr: The serpent brings a false light and freedom to man which enslaves him and brings forth the curse.

Speaker of the House Nathaniel Macon: Adam allowed the gift of God, Eden, to be infiltrated by the enemy.

President Pro Tempore Abraham Baldwin: Adam and Eve were commanded to be fruitful and multiply as husband and wife.

President Pro Tempore Stephen Bradley: Adam was given dominion over the glorious land of Eden, a land of freedom.

President Pro Tempore John Brown: Adam and Eve were tested in the Garden by the serpent.

President Pro Tempore Jesse Franklin.  Adam’s dwelt in his possession as a freeman.

President Pro Tempore Joseph Anderson: Adam and Eve gather together to the midst of the Garden where the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil dwelt.

Vice President George Clinton: Adam and Eve partook of the fruit of the tree of knowledge which brought forth the curse upon the earth.

President Pro Tempore Samuel Smith:  After eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, man’s eyes were opened and he knew he was naked so he hid from God but could not escape His punishment.

Speaker of the House Joseph Bradley Varnum: The serpent offered freedom to Adam and Eve but in reality brought slavery to sin.

President Pro Tempore Stephen R. Bradley: Adam loses his dominion over the Garden and is cast into exile.  He was free but now in bondage to sin and the curse.

President Pro Tempore John Milledge: Even in their rebellion, God’s grace is still given to Adam and Eve as He covered their nakedness.

Jefferson’s character as one who doubted the words of the Holy Scriptures depicts the doubt which the serpent brought to Adam and Eve. He did not believe in the miracles attributed to Jesus in the bible and decided to ‘make’ his own Bible which has come to be known as the ‘Jefferson Bible’ which consisted of forty six pages, corresponding to the forty six words the serpent spoke to Eve in the Garden. He was a leader in the Enlightenment, which corresponds with the false light of the serpent brought forth in the Garden.

James Madison Democratic-Republican 3/4/1809-3/4/1817

The Presidency of James Madison is a picture of the war between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent. Man was cast out of the Garden due to his disobedience and kept from re-entering by Cherubim. Man lost dominion to the old serpent, the devil. Separated from his home, no longer ruler over the earth.

James comes from the Hebrew name יעקב ‘yaakov’ or Jacob which means the one who grabs the heel.  This word is related to battle in the sense of a conflict between two parties. יעקב ‘yaakov’ comes from the root word עקב ‘aqav’ which means heel as in the heel of the Seed of the woman which will be bruised by the serpent (Genesis 3:15) and is also translated as ‘subtlety’ as seen in 2 Kings 10:19. Further linking to the war with the serpent is that עקב ‘aqav’ is associated with poisonous creatures which bite at man’s heel such as scorpions, serpents and spiders.

Madison means warrior from the Germanic name ‘Mathildis’ meaning strength in battle.  Here we see the picture of the warfare which commenced on earth when the serpent deceived Adam and Eve and the promise that the Seed of the woman would prevail over the serpent.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Madison’s last name means warrior as mentioned previously, but also traces back to the name Matthew which comes from the Greek word Mατθαῖος ‘Matthaios’ which means ‘gift of God.’ The warfare between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent is won through the gift of Messiah (John 3:16; Colossians 2:15), whose death on the cross brings liberty to all those held captive to sin and death (Galatians 5:1). This war is depicted in the War of 1812 which occurred during the Presidency of James Madison and was dubbed the “Second War for Independence”.

The name meanings of Madison and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Due to the deception of the serpent in the Garden and the disobedience of Adam and Eve in heeding his words, warfare was decreed by God between the Seed of the woman and the serpent. Death and the curse entered the world where Adam would have to work the ground by the sweat of his brow for food and later return to that ground when he died.  The promise of freedom from the serpent in reality turned into the chains of slavery to sin and death and led to Adam’s exile out of Paradise.  In His grace, God promised to Adam and Eve a deliverer.  Yet, He still cast them out of the Garden and placed Cherubim at the entrance to keep Adam from re-entering.

In exile from the Garden, Adam and Eve would hope in the Father’s grace and rejoice in His promise of the Seed of the woman who would defeat the serpent.

Cherubim guarded the way back to the Tree of Life, preventing Adam and Eve from partaking thereof.  God did not want man to live forever in the chains of sin.  Man needed to be separated from the fruit of the Tree of Life because he the devil led him to partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge which brings death.  The way back to the Tree of Life would come through the Promised Seed of the woman who would come to earth while mankind dwelt in exile from the Garden.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President James Madison: War between the serpent and mankind commences.

Vice President George Clinton: Adam is cursed to work the ground by the sweat of his brown and return to the dust when he died.

Speaker of the House Joseph Bradley Varnum: The freedom that the serpent offered Adam became bondage to sin and death.

President Pro Tempore John Milledge: God’s grace still shines through as He covers Adam and Eve’s nakedness, a foreshadowing of the covering of sin which will come through the Promised Seed of the woman, Jesus Christ.

President Pro Tempore Andrew Gregg: Man was deceived into thinking he would become a god by eating of the tree of knowledge.

President Pro Tempore John Gaillard: God promises to bring about a Redeemer for mankind through the Seed of the woman.  This Seed, Jesus Christ, would bring this victory and joy to all of mankind

President Pro Tempore John Pope: The grace of the Father would be revealed through this Seed of the woman.

Speaker of the House Henry Clay: Adam is cast out of the Garden where he and his descendants would fill the earth.

President Pro Tempore William H. Crawford: Adam is exiled from the Garden but is given hope of redemption through the Seed of the woman.

Vice President Elbridge Gerry: Adam was cast out of the Garden because he allowed the serpent to cause him to doubt the Word of God.  The way back to the Garden was guarded by Cherubim to prevent Adam from eating of the Tree of Life in his sinful state.

President Pro Tempore Joseph B. Varnum: Adam and Eve are cast out of the Garden because of the false freedom offered by the serpent.

Speaker of the House Langdon Cheves: Adam and Eve are separated from Paradise because of the deception of the devil.

President Pro Tempore John Gaillard: Although Adam and Eve are in exile and under the curse of sin, they are promised a Redeemer.

Speaker of the House Henry Clay: Adam was exiled from the Garden and would return to the dust when he died.

The War of 1812 and Madison’s contributions to the writing of the Constitution and Bill of Rights depicts the warfare between the seeds. The age old struggle between freedom and tyranny.

James Monroe Democratic-Republican 3/4/1817-3/4/1825

The name meaning of James Monroe is a continuation of the meaning seen in Madison’s Presidency of warfare between the Seed of the woman and the serpent and his seed.

Again, the meaning of the name James refers to battle. The theme of the warfare between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent continues.

Monroe means ‘from the mouth of the Roe,’ which is a river in Ireland.  Roe comes from the Irish word ‘rua’ meaning red.  This is linked to blood, the river of life. The word for red in Hebrew is אדום ‘adom’ which comes from the root דם ‘dam’ which means blood. Literally, דם ‘dam’ is speaking of a liquid which flows through a door as seen in the human body where blood flows through the valves of the heart. Further linking this concept is that word ‘roe’ also means the ‘fully ripe internal egg in the ovaries’ of a female.  Yet another connection to the battle of the two seeds (Genesis 3:15).

James Monroe was the last of the ‘Revolutionary War heroes’ who would be President. He was also the first President who was not open about his belief in God. Here we see a transition from the first four Presidents who pictured Adam in the Garden who walked with God to the separation that occurred when Adam sinned. Monroe was also the last President of of the ‘First Party System’ which displays Adam’s days in the Garden.

The name meanings of Monroe and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The enmity between the Seed of the woman and the serpent is brought forth as judgment from God because Adam and Eve allowed the doubt brought forth by the adversary to deceive them into disobeying the Lord.  God judged Adam and Eve and the serpent and declared that there would be war between them. Adam would be exiled from the Garden and would return to the dust from whence he came when he died.  Yet, in this punishment there was still hope for a Redeemer, the Seed of the woman.  Adam’s sin brought slavery and death to the world but in His grace, God promised a Savior to free mankind from this plight.  This Redeemer would bring freedom from slavery through His death.  However, until the coming of this Savior, mankind would still be under the penalty of death and exile from Paradise.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President James Monroe: War between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent is decreed.

Vice President Daniel D. Tompkins: God judges Adam, Eve and the serpent.

Speaker of the House Henry Clay:  Adam is cast out of the Garden.

President Pro Tempore John Gaillard: In His grace, God promises a deliverer to Adam and Eve who would defeat the serpent.

President Pro Tempore James Barbour: The war between the seeds begins as Adam is cast out of the Garden.

President Pro Tempore John Gaillard: Adam is promised victory over the serpent and the path back to Paradise.

Speaker of the House John W. Taylor: The war between the seeds would culminate in the Seed of the woman being pierced by nails revealing God’s grace to mankind.

Speaker of the House Philip Pendleton Barbour: Mankind is now at war with the evil one, walking in a foreign land separated from God.

Speaker of the House Henry Clay: Man would dwell in exile from the Garden and return to the dust at death.

Monroe was the last of the Revolutionary War heroes whose Presidency saw the end of the First Party System which depicted the days of Adam in the Garden. Through an attempt to unify the Federalists and Democrat-Republicans, the fall of the ‘Old Republic’ was seen paving the way for a new era in American history. This mixture of parties corresponded with the mixture of the tree of knowledge of good and evil which led to Adam and Eve being exiles and a ‘new era’ in the history of man commencing.

John Quincy Adams Democratic-Republican/National Republican 3/4/1825-3/4/1829

John Adams was a picture of Adam in the Garden, his son John Quincy Adams is a picture of man outside of the Garden. John means the camp of God and Adams means man.

Quincy comes from the Latin word ‘quintus’ which means five. The word for five in Hebrew is חמש ‘chamesh’ which means grabbing of a tool by the hand as the hand consists of five fingers. This can be in reference to the tools of agriculture that Adam would now need to take up (Genesis 3:18-19) but also weapons of war.

Here it is seen that Adams’ Presidency would be a continuation on the theme of warfare between the seeds and the curse that came upon the earth due to sin. However, the main theme of the name meanings in John Quincy Adams’ Presidency is speaking of the promise of victory over sin and death through the Seed of the woman. This is further seen in the meaning of John Quincy Adams’ name as John means not only the camp of God, but also the grace of God. Quincy is the number five which is well known amongst Biblical scholars as the number of grace.

Both warfare and grace are associated with the number five. This is because the warfare that began in the Garden is ended by the Messiah, the gift of grace to mankind (Job 14:14; 40:2). Even the word Christ depicts this number five as this word is used 555 times in the Bible. The implements of agriculture and or war in the hands of man are also related to the number five through the Hebrew word for bread which is לחם ‘lechem.’ לחם ‘lechem’ means bread, but also to fight. The picture here is of the flour and water being kneaded in the hands of the bread maker as a depiction of conflict or fighting. This connection between warfare and strife and bread is a part of the punishment Adam was given in the Garden after partaking of the tree of knowledge.

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

The Presidency of John Quincy Adams is a picture of the promise of God to redeem man from the enemy. Although man had been cast out of Eden, he is given the promise that the way back to paradise will be given. This will come through the struggle of the two seeds, where the Seed of the woman will prevail.

The name meanings of Adams and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Adam was cast out of the Garden and ‘camped’ outside of Paradise.  By the gift of grace of God, a return to Paradise was promised.  His grace would be revealed by the Seed of the woman who would bring living waters to mankind, leading them back to God’s heavenly city.  This Promised Seed would be pierced in order to bring forth God’s grace.  Mankind is promised victory and joy through Him.  God’s gift to mankind and the path back to the Paradise would come through this Redeemer.  He would be crowned with thorns and pierced through with nails to bring God’s forgiveness to mankind.  All who will call upon His name will be delivered from the curse of sin.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President John Quincy Adams: Adam is promised the way back to the Garden through the Seed of the woman who would God’s grace.

Vice President John C. Calhoun: The Seed of the woman would bring living waters to mankind and lead them back to God’s heavenly city.

Speaker of the House John W. Taylor: God’s grace is revealed through the piercing of the Seed of the woman.

President Pro Tempore John Gaillard:  Victory and joy is given to mankind through their Savior.

President Pro Tempore Nathaniel Macon: God’s gift of forgiveness through the Seed of the woman reveals the way back to Paradise.

Speaker of the House Andrew Stevenson:  He is crowned with thorns and pierced through to become King over all the earth.

President Pro Tempore Samuel Smith:  God hears the voices of those who call upon the name of the Seed of the woman, Jesus Christ.

This theme of war and grace is seen in the character of Adams who was the author of the Monroe Doctrine which depicts the war between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent. His opposition to slavery further depicts the theme of the warfare between the seeds where liberty comes through Messiah while slavery comes through the serpent.

Andrew Jackson Democrat 3/4/1829-3/4/1837

Andrew Jackson‘s presidency continues the theme of the Son of Man coming to earth to save all those who would believe on Him. Eve believed that Cain was this promised Seed but found out that he was a murderer like his ‘father’ the devil. The Promised Seed is promised to overcome the ‘heel grabber/bruiser’ on the hill of Calvary, bringing great glory. This promise of the Seed would pass down through the millenia to the days of Abraham, who was given the promise that the Seed would come from his lineage.

Andrew comes from the Greek word ανηρ ‘aner’ which means man.

Jackson means son of Jack which is a diminutive of John.  John, again means the grace of God. Jackson’s name depicts the Son or Seed, who would bring the grace of God.

Here we see two consecutive Presidents whose names bring forth the Promise of the Seed of the woman. As mentioned before, repetition is used in the Bible to bring emphasis upon a point. The Promise of the Seed of the woman is at the foundation of the whole Biblical narrative.

The name meanings of Jackson and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Man is given the promise of the Seed of the woman who would bring God’s grace.  He would show the way back to the living waters of God’s heavenly city.  This Seed would overcome the piercing of the serpent to become King of Kings.  God will hear all those who call upon this Seed and set them free from the slavery of sin and death.  Adam was cast out of the garden where he would be a pilgrim working the cursed earth. Man’s heart was defiled with sin through the fruit of the tree of knowledge which led to Cain murdering his brother.  After murdering his brother, Cain became a vagabond living in cities.  Yet, in His Grace, God keeps His promise of sending a Redeemer who would be victorious in the war between His seed and the serpent’s seed.  He would bring forth God’s grace and protection.  The war would culminate on a hill called Calvary where Jesus would reveal God’s glory.  Through His piercing, the Good Shepherd would lead His people to the Heavenly city and green pastures.  Mankind is given the hope of the Promised Seed, who would come in the image of His Father and be crowned King of Kings.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Andrew Jackson: Adam is given the promise of  God’s grace through the Seed of the woman.

Vice President John Calhoun: The Promised Seed will bring forth God’s grace, leading mankind back to the living waters of the heavenly city.

Speaker of the House Andrew Stevenson: The Promised Seed would overcome the crown of thorns and piercing of the serpent to become King of Kings, sitting at the Right Hand of the Father.

President Pro Tempore Samuel Smith: God hears all those who call upon the Promised Seed and sets them free from the curse of sin and death.

President Pro Tempore Littleton Tazewell: Adam becomes a pilgrim in the earth with his family who make a settlement upon the cursed earth.

President Pro Tempore Hugh Lawson White: Sin had entered man’s heart due to partaking of the tree of knowledge, leading to Cain murdering his brother Abel.

Vice President Martin Van Buren: Warfare between mankind had commenced.  Cain is cursed to be a vagabond in the earth but rebels and builds a city.

Speaker of the House John Bell: God’s promise of the Seed of the woman bringing His grace and leading mankind back to Paradise continues.

President Pro Tempore George Poindexter.  The war between the seeds continues between those who follow the wicked one and those who follow God.

President Pro Tempore John Tyler:  God’s grace and protection will be given to those who trust in the Seed of the woman.

Speaker of the House James K. Polk: The war will culminate at Calvary where the Seed of the woman will defeat the serpent and reveal God’s glory.

Chief Justice Roger B. Taney: The Seed of the woman is pierced with a spear, whose blood atonement reveals the path back to Paradise and relationship with God the Father.

President Pro Tempore William R. King: Mankind is given the hope of the Promised Seed and redemption in His blood, who would come in the image of His Father and be crowned King of Kings.

The theme of the two seeds, one good the other evil, is exemplified in Andrew Jackson’s life. A man that did not live a holy life yet, in the end repented and turned to the Most High. So too, it was not the first seed of Adam that would defeat the serpent, but the Last Adam that would. His battles with the National Bank depict the war between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent. Though Andrew Jackson lived most of his life as a carnal, unregenerate man, yet in the end his repentance led to his salvation.

Martin Van Buren Democrat 3/4/1837-3/4/1841

MartinVan Buren‘s name meaning is speaking of the state of man after the Fall and the exile out of the Garden. The war between the Seed of the woman and seed of the serpent is displayed in Cain who was of the wicked one, the first builder of cities.

Martin traces back to the Roman name ‘Martinus’ which is a derivative of ‘Martis’ and the source of the name Mars.  This word is also related to the Latin word ‘mas’ which means a male.  In Roman mythology Mars is the god of war which began in the beginning with the first male Adam and his decision to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Van Buren means ‘of the city’ or ‘of neighbors.’  Here we see a picture of Cain, the first murderer or man of war who went and built a city (Genesis 4:8-17).

In the Hebrew language, cities are seen primarily as negative entitities. The Hebrew word for city is ער ‘ar’ which also means darkness, or an enemy. This is why Scriptures display cities in a negative light for the most part. The word for city in Hebrew can also be spelled עיר ‘iyr’ which is also translated as a donkey depending upon the context of what is being said. This is because donkeys are of dark color.

The donkey was the symbol of Andrew Jackson, who for most of his life was an unregenerate, carnal man. Van Buren can also be displayed by the donkey as he was one of the primary men responsible for the organization of the Democratic Party which formed behind Jackson. He was so closely tied to Andrew Jackson that some historians describe his Presidency as the ‘third term of Jackson.’ Van Buren proclaimed that he would “follow in the footsteps of his illustrious predecessor” and did so in many ways, even keeping most of Jackson’s cabinet.

Martin Van Buren’s presidency continues with the storyline of the war between the seeds. The battle between good and evil. Cain murdered his brother Abel, but God gave Adam and Eve another child, Seth, to whom the Seed of the woman would come. Here the two camps separate, the seed of Cain to the one side, the seed of Seth to the other.

The name meanings of Van Buren and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The war between the Seed of the woman and seed of the serpent is displayed in Cain who was of the wicked one, the first builder of cities.  Adam was appointed another seed after Cain killed Abel, a son given by God’s grace, Seth.  A foreshadowing of the victory of the Seed of the woman over the serpent is displayed in Abel’s death at the hands of Cain.  The Seed of the woman would be the hope of mankind who would reign as King over all the earth.  He would bring victory over the seed of the serpent, delivering them from the ‘hunter of souls.’

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Martin Van Buren: The war between the Seed of the woman and seed of the serpent is displayed in Cain who was of the wicked one, the first builder of cities.

Vice President Richard Mentor Johnson: Adam was given another seed Seth after Abel was killed by Cain.  Through Seth would come the Promised Seed.

Speaker of the House James K. Polk: The Seed of the woman would bring victory through His death at Calvary, foreshadowed in Abel’s death at the hands of Cain.

President Pro Tempore William R. King: Mankind is given the hope of the Promised Seed and redemption in His blood, who would come in the image of His Father and be crowned King of Kings.

Speaker of the House Robert M.T. Hunter: Cain, who was of the wicked one, becomes famous for being the first murderer.

Van Buren was so closely tied to Andrew Jackson that some historians describe his Presidency as the ‘third term of Jackson.’ So too, his Presidency continues the theme of the war between the seeds. Van Buren, however, depicts the life of Cain who was of the evil one.

President William Henry Harrison Whig 3/4/1841-4/4/1841

William Henry Harrison‘s name meaning depicts mankind joining forces to form armies and war against each other as seen in Genesis 6:5, and 6:13. William comes from the Germanic words ‘wil’ meaning desire and ‘helm’ meaning the head, or helmet/protection.

Henry comes from the Germanic words ‘heim’ meaning home and ‘ric’ meaning power or ruler.

Harrison means son of Harry which is from the name Henry/Harold.  Henry again means home power or ruler.  Harold comes from the Old English name ‘Hereweald’ meaning leader of the army.  ‘Here’ means army and ‘weald’ means leader or ruler. Here then in all three of Harrison’s name is a depiction of warfare.

Harrison’s life depicts this meaning of violence and war. He was a brigadier general in the War of 1812, receiving a Gold Medal. Harrison gained national fame in the Battle of Tippecanoe where he defeated the Shawnee at Prophetstown and burnt the city to the ground. The name of the city was called Prophetstown in honor of Tecumseh’s brother Tenskwatawa who was a Shawnee prophet who proclaimed Americans as the children of the devil, the “spawn of the Great Serpent”. Tenskwatawa means “One With Open Mouth”. This points to Noah who was the sole preacher of righteousness during his days (1 Peter 2:5).

The Presidency of William Henry Harrison is speaking of the days that the population of mankind increased and men joined forces to war against each other. It was during this time that Noah was called by God to build an ark.

The name meanings of Harrison and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Mankind multiplied on the face of the earth and violence filled the land.  Rulers of armies rose up to protect and attack others.  This wickedness grieved God so that He purposed to send a Flood to destroy all flesh.  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and was told to build an ark to escape this judgment. Noah walked with God obeying His voice which allowed him to be saved from God’s judgment.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President William Henry Harrison: Violence filled the earth in which men would rise to rule over others.

Vice President John Tyler: Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and was commanded to build an ark to escape the impending Flood.

President Pro Tempore Samuel Southard: Noah walked with God in obedience which allowed him to be delivered from the Flood while the rest of mankind and the giants were destroyed.

Harrison’s life depicts the time of violence and war spoken of in Genesis 6, as he was a brigadier general in the War of 1812, and gained national fame in the Battle of Tippecanoe where Harrison defeated the Shawnee at Prophetstown and burnt the city to the ground.

John Tyler Whig/Independent 4/4/1841-3/4/1845

John Tyler‘s name meaning is a picture of Noah finding grace in the eyes of the Lord amidst a world full of wickedness and the command of God to Noah for him to build and to escape the judgment to come by the Flood.

John means the grace of God. This is pointing to the grace which Noah found during these days of evil.

Genesis 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Tyler is from an English surname meaning the ’tiler of roofs.’ Or it could be said, one who covers the roof of a home which protects the dwellers therein from the elements. This is referring to Noah and the building of an ark (Genesis 6:13-17).

John Tyler’s Presidency bears numerous parallels to the account of Noah. Tyler stood strongly for state’s rights, and later served in the Confederacy because of this reason. He stood against an overpowering national government, which Scripture likens to a beast (Revelation 17:1, 3, 15). Tyler had originally agreed with Democrats and Andrew Jackson on these issues but later switched to the Whig party which supported a strong national government. As President, Tyler returned to his old positions which enraged his party and led to him being expelled from the Whig Party.

The Presidency of John Tyler is speaking of the days of Noah and the building of the ark, the covering of the ark with pitch to escape the coming Flood. Noah and his family escaped the flood by the ark, which was set upon the ‘joyful rock,’ Mt. Ararat.

The name meanings of Tyler and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord amidst a world full of wickedness.  God commanded Noah to build an ark to escape the judgment that was to come by a flood.  The Lord saved Noah because he was just and perfect before Him.  The ark of Noah was covered in pitch, a picture of God’s grace and atonement given to those who believe in Jesus and who are baptized in Him just as the ark was baptized in the waters of the Flood.  Noah was the religious leader of his days who was given protection from the wicked beings on the earth and escaped the judgment of the Flood while the wicked were destroyed.  By the grace of God, Noah’s ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President John Tyler: Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord amidst a world full of wickedness and was commanded to build an ark to escape the judgment that was to come by a flood.

President Pro Tempore Samuel Southard: The Lord saved Noah because he was just and perfect before Him.

Speaker of the House John White: The ark of Noah was covered in pitch, a picture of God’s grace and atonement given to those who believe in Jesus and who are baptized in Him just as the ark was baptized in the waters of the Flood.

President Pro Tempore Willie P. Mangum: Noah was the religious leader of his days who was given protection from the wicked beings on the earth and escaped the judgment of the Flood while the wicked were destroyed.

Speaker of the House John W. Jones:  By the grace of God, Noah’s ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat.

Tyler believed in following the Constitution strictly, corresponding with Noah who never wavered from walking in the ways of the Lord. His firm belief in the atonement of the Son of God points to the shadow picture of the Flood which depicts the washing away of sin by the blood of Messiah.

James K. Polk Democrat 3/4/1845-3/4/1849

The meaning of James K. Polk‘s name is speaking of God’s people prevailing over adversity. This is depicted in Noah and his family surviving the Flood. Noah would have been considered a ‘dark horse’ who rose from obscurity to being the leader of all of mankind after the Flood.

James comes from the Hebrew name Jacob which means a supplanter or heel grabber, the one who has power with God and with men and prevails (Genesis 32:27-28).

Genesis 32:27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

Genesis 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

It is interesting to note that in Genesis 32:28, the word ‘prevailed’ comes from the Hebrew word יכל ‘yakol’ which also means a vessel, as in the ark of Noah.

Knox is a Scottish surname which comes from the Old English ‘cnocc’ meaning ’round hill.’ In chapter 8, when Polk was the Speaker of the House during Martin Van Buren’s Presidency, this name was a picture of the victory of the Seed of the woman on Calvary. In this chapter, the victory is seen on the mountains of Ararat.

Polk is an abbreviated form of the Scottish name Pollack, meaning ‘from the pool or pit’ tracing back further to the Gaelic word ‘poll’ meaning a ‘pool.’  In German, Polk means ‘great glory’ (Psalm 29:10). The great Glory of God is revealed through the Flood when Noah and family are saved by being raised out of the pit (Psalm 93:1-5; 69:15; Genesis 7:18).

Here we see a picture of the flood where the ark finally sets upon a ’round hill,’ the mountains of Ararat (Genesis 8:4). On Ararat, Noah and family prevail with God and are brought up from the pit/abyss. The great Glory of God is revealed through the Flood as the wicked are destroyed and the righteous are saved (Psalm 93:1-5; 69:15; 96:2-3; 98:1-3, 8-9; Genesis 7:18).

The name meanings of Polk and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Noah and family  prevail the Flood through an ark which rests upon the mountains of Ararat.  The great Glory of God is revealed through the Flood.  Noah and family survive the Flood through the ark.  Noah plants a vineyard after the waters recede and the earth dries.  God’s mercy is shed upon Noah who survives the Flood waters.  Noah once again dwells on the earth with his sons from whom all the nations of the earth will spread forth.  All peoples come forth from the lineage of Noah, God’s beloved.  Noah becomes the famous one who plants a vineyard.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President James K. Polk: Noah and family  prevail the Flood through an ark which rests upon the mountains of Ararat.  The great Glory of God is revealed through the Flood.

Vice President George M. Dallas: Noah becomes a farmer, after surviving the Flood through the ark.

Speaker of the House John Wesley Davis: Noah found grace and love in God in surviving the Flood.

President Pro Tempore Ambrose H. Sevier: Noah overcame death and would once again dwell on dry land.  All nations would spread forth from his sons.

President Pro Tempore David R. Atchison: Noah was God’s beloved who would plant a vineyard and in whom all peoples would come forth, as with Adam.

Speaker of the House Robert Charles Winthrop: Noah would be the most famous man in history, who would plant a vineyard and live again on dry land with his family.

Polk’s Presidency was described as being Puritan in nature, corresponding with the purification of the earth that occurred by the Flood. The doctrine of Manifest Destiny came about during his Presidency, a picture of the command to Noah and his family to be fruitful and multiply.

Zachary Taylor Whig 3/4/1849-7/9/1850

Zachary Taylor‘s name meaning is speaking of the covenant that God cut with Noah after he left the ark promising that never again would a flood cover the earth to destroy all flesh (Genesis 8:21). This was the beginnings of a new era in Biblical history which would bring culminate with the time of Abraham and the covenant that God made with him.

Zachary comes from the name Zechariah which comes from the Hebrew name זכריה ‘zekaryah’ which means God remembers. This is pointing to Genesis 8:1 where God is said to have ‘remembered’ Noah and caused a wind to pass over the earth to make the Flood subside.

Taylor is from an English surname originally denoting someone who was a tailor. This word traces back to the Latin word ‘taliare’ meaning ‘to cut.’  This name displays the covenant that was cut when Noah left the ark (Genesis 9:8-13).

The name meanings of Taylor and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

God remembered Noah and caused the Flood waters to subside.  Once the earth dried, Noah left the ark and offered sacrifices to the Most High which were a sweet savour unto Him, leading to the covenant and promise of the Lord to never again destroy all flesh.  The ‘famous one,’ Noah, planted a vineyard and produced wine which led to the cursing of Canaan and the blessing being passed down to Shem.  Noah, the beloved of God, became the forefather of all mankind who would separate according to his sons.  Shem was given the promise of the Seed of the woman while Japhet would dwell in his tents and Canaan would be cursed.  The Seed of the woman would come forth from the lineage of Shem while the seed of the serpent would be found in the descendants of Canaan.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Zachary Taylor: God remembered Noah and caused the Flood waters to subside.  Once the earth dried, Noah left the ark and offered sacrifices to the Most High which were a sweet savour unto Him, leading to the covenant and promise of the Lord to never again destroy all flesh.

Vice President Millard Fillmore: The ‘famous one,’ Noah, planted a vineyard and produced wine which led to the cursing of Canaan and the blessing being passed down to Shem.

President Pro Tempore David R. Atchison:  Noah, the beloved of God, became the forefather of all mankind who would separate according to his sons.

Speaker of the House Howell Cobb: Shem was given the promise of the Seed of the woman while Japhet would dwell in his tents and Canaan would be cursed.

President Pro Tempore William R. King: The Seed of the woman would come forth from the lineage of Shem while the seed of the serpent would be found in the descendants of Canaan.

Taylor’s life and Presidency connects to the life of Noah and the Flood he was delivered from. From his life as a planter to his military career to his one year Presidency, parallels to Noah are seen.

Millard Fillmore Whig 7/9/1850-3/4/1853
Millard Fillmore‘s name meaning is speaking of the blessing of Shem, and the curse of Canaan seen in Genesis 9:25-27.

Millard is from an Old English word meaning ‘guardian of the mill.’  A mill is something that grinds, such as the grinding of grain to make flour or the pressing of olives to make wine.  This is pointing to the time of Noah who became a ‘man of the earth’ who made wine (Genesis 9:20)

Fillmore means ‘very famous,’ ‘well-known,’ or ‘renowned.’  Noah is one of the most well known figures in the history of mankind, the man from whence all men descend from and a prominent figure in all religions.  ‘Well-known’ or ‘renowned’ also links to the Hebrew name שם ‘shem’ the son of Noah and inheritor of the blessing (Genesis 9:26) whose name has the same meaning of ‘renown’ or ‘fame.’

Genesis 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

Genesis 9:23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.

Genesis 9:24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

Genesis 9:25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

Genesis 9:26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Genesis 9:27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

The name meanings of Fillmore and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

After the Flood, Noah became a man of the earth and planted a vineyard.  Due to Ham mocking his father, Shem inherited the Noah’s blessing.  Shem was given the promise of the Seed of the woman while Japhet would dwell in his tents and Canaan would be cursed.  The King of Kings would come forth from the lineage Shem who was given dominion over Canaan’s descendants who would be slaves. This beautiful Branch would come from the seed of Shem from whom would come the end of the curse and slavery to sin.  All nations would spread forth from the sons of Noah, the beloved of God.  Noah’s blessing of Shem and cursing of Canaan divided the peoples of the earth into two camps.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Millard Fillmore: The famous one, Noah planted a vineyard and blessed his son Shem after Ham’s folly.

Speaker of the House Linn Boyd: The beautiful Branch would come from the seed of Shem from whom would come the end of the curse and slavery to sin.

President Pro Tempore: The beloved of God, Noah would be father of all peoples who would spread forth over the earth through his sons.  These peoples would be divided into two camps, those who followed the ways of the Promised Seed versus those who would follow the ways of the seed of the serpent.

Fillmore’s Presidency was defined by the Compromise of 1850 which depicted the curse of Canaan, at which time the blessing of Shem was proclaimed.

Franklin Pierce Democrat 3/4/1853-3/4/1857

Franklin Pierce‘s name is speaking of the promise of the Seed of the woman being given to Shem, the Rock upon which believers stand. This time period begins the conflict between the seed of Shem and the seed of Canaan. The seed of Shem would pass down the truth of the Word of God and the promise of the Messiah versus the seed of Canaan from whom would come the Mystery Religions and the false Christs.

Franklin comes from the Middle English word ‘frankelin’ meaning a ‘freeman.’

Pierce comes from ‘Piers’ which is a Medieval form of Peter.  Peter comes from the Greek word Πετρος ‘petros’ which means a stone.  Peter further traces back to the Hebrew word פטר ‘patar’ which means to give birth or the firstborn breaking free from the womb.

It was during the account of Noah and his getting drunk with wine that Canaan was cursed to be a slave to his brothers (Genesis 9:25). His brothers would by inference be freemen. The ultimate fulfillment of freedom comes from forgiveness of sins and salvation through Messiah Jesus (Galatians 5:1; John 8:31-32) who would come forth from the loins of Shem.

It was the Apostle Peter who proclaimed Jesus as Messiah, the Son of God in Matthew 16.  It is here that the battle between the righteous and the wicked was proclaimed by the Lord.

Matthew 16:15  He said to them, But you, whom do you say Me to be?
Matthew 16:16  And answering, Simon Peter said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matthew 16:17  And answering, Jesus said to him, Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven.
Matthew 16:18  And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against her.

This proclamation by Christ was displaying a furtherance of the battle between ‘the tents of Shem‘ versus ‘the tents of Canaan’ (Genesis 9:27; Psalm 118:15). It was from Shem who would come Abraham and the continuation of the promise of the Seed of the woman. It was from Canaan that Nimrod would come, the false Christ of the mystery religions.

Franklin Pierce’s presidency is a picture of the blessing upon Shem and Japhet and the curse upon Canaan. Shem is given dominion over Canaan, a picture of the days of Messiah. This is the time where the gift of God, His Word, was corrupted by Nimrod and led to the dividing of the languages.

The name meanings of Pierce and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The Promise of freedom from sin and death through the Seed of the woman is passed to Shem, whose faith is founded upon the Rock. The Promised Seed who would come in the image of His Father would bring deliverance from sin and become King of Kings. This beautiful Branch, the Holy Seed would bring victory over the serpent.  Shem, the beloved of son of Noah, inherited the blessing which began the war between his house and the house of Canaan.  This conflict would divide mankind into two camps with God’s gift, His beloved Son coming to save His people and be exalted to the Right Hand of the Father.  The Gift of God would be sent, saving mankind through His knowledge and dividing the spoil with His people.  Shem inherited the promise of being the progenitor of this Promised Seed.  After Noah’s blessing upon Shem and curse upon Canaan, rebellious mankind would gather together to Shinar to build a tower and city.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Franklin Pierce: The Promise of freedom from sin and death through the Seed of the woman is passed to Shem, whose faith is founded upon the Rock.

Vice President William R. King: The Promised Seed who would come in the image of His Father would bring deliverance from sin and become King of Kings.

Speaker of the House Linn Boyd: This beautiful Branch, the Holy Seed would bring victory over the serpent.

President Pro Tempore: David R. Atchison: Shem, the beloved of son of Noah, inherited the blessing which began the war between his house and the house of Canaan.

President Pro Tempore Lewis Cass: This conflict would divide mankind into two camps

President Pro Tempore Jesse D. Bright: God’s gift, His beloved Son is promised to come to save His people and be exalted to the Right Hand of the Father.

Speaker of the House Nathaniel P. Banks: The Gift of God is promised to be sent, who would save mankind through His knowledge and divide the spoil with His people.

President Pro Tempore Charles E. Stuart: Noah’s sons divide into two camps with Shem given the blessing and Japhet dwelling in his house versus Canaan the cursed one.

President Pro Tempore Jesse D. Bright: God’s gift, His beloved Son is promised to come to save His people and be exalted to the Right Hand of the Father.

President Pro Tempore James M. Mason: After Noah’s blessing upon Shem and curse upon Canaan, rebellious mankind would gather together to Shinar to build a tower and city.

Franklin Pierce’s Presidency was defined by the passing of the Kansas-Nebraska Act which ended the Missouri Compromise. This led to more strife over the issue of slavery between the North and South. This struggle over slavery continued the theme of the curse of Canaan and being a ‘servant of servants.’

James Buchanan Democrat 3/4/1857-3/4/1861

James Buchanan‘s Presidency is a picture of Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the Lord. It was during Nimrod’s days that mankind would be divided at the Tower of Babel. The divisions in America over the issue of slavery which led to the Civil War correspond to this time in the Biblical narrative.

James comes from יעקב ‘yaakov’ meaning a supplanter or ‘heel grabber.’ As mentioned before, this name is referring to conflict or warfare.

Buchanan comes from the Gaelic words ‘buth’ meaning house and ‘chanain’ meaning ‘of the canon.’  A canon is a ‘ruler’ from the Latin ‘canonicus’ meaning ‘according to rule.’  This word traces back to the Hebrew word קנה ‘qaneh’ which means a branch or stalk which can be used for measurement or as a weapon. In English a canon is also weapon.  This is pointing to the days of Nimrod, the false branch who warred against the Lord (Genesis 10:8-9).

This name also points to Genesis 10 and the ‘measuring’ of the nations according to the children of Israel (Deuteronomy 32:8) which occurred during these days. During this time in the Biblical narrative, the peoples of the earth rebelled against the Lord under Nimrod’s leadership and built the Tower of Babel. קנה ‘qaneh,’ which means branch, also has the meaning of building as a bird building its nest with branches and twigs.

The Presidency of James Buchanan was defined by the issue of slavery which was dividing of the nation. It was during Buchanan’s Presidency that the first states in the South seceded from the Union.

His goal as President was to destroy the disunity of the North and South and bring about harmony.

“The object of my administration will be to destroy sectional party, North or South, and to restore harmony to the Union under a national and conservative government”.

Buchanan believed that the Supreme Court’s ruling in the case of Dred Scott v. Sanford would decide the slavery issue for the nation and said he would fully support and follow whatever decision was made. After the Supreme Court ruled that Congress had no power to exclude slavery in the territories the division of the Union was all but guaranteed.

The Presidency of James Buchanan is speaking of the days of Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the LORD. During these days, mankind conspired to build a tower to make a name for themselves but ended up being divided into the four corners of the earth as their languages were confused. It was during these days that the Mystery religions were formed, a corruption of the faith passed down from Noah.

The name meanings of Buchanan and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The false Christ Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the Lord, deceived mankind into building a tower at Shinar.  In His grace, God divided the languages of the peoples and scattered them to prevent them from fulfilling the imaginations of their wicked hearts.  Nimrod, the seed of the serpent brought forth the Mystery religions which trace back to the doctrine of the serpent in the beginning.  He would reintroduce the fruit of the tree of knowledge and attempt to unify mankind under his rule but would instead would see the division of mankind through the confusion of tongues.  The LORD would come down to earth to defeat the purposes of wicked man.  Nimrod attempted to portray himself as the savior of mankind but in reality enslaved them.  He was the false branch, the false Christ who attempted to exalt himself as King.  However, the fulfillment of the promise of the Savior would not come through Canaan’s seed, it would come forth from the lineage of Shem and Abraham.  Abraham would be called by God to leave Nimrod’s land of Babylon to go to the Promised Land where he would inherit the promise of the Seed of the woman.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President James Buchanan: The false Christ Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the Lord, deceived mankind into building a tower at Shinar.

Vice President John C. Breckinridge: In His grace, God divided the languages of the peoples and scattered them to prevent them from fulfilling the imaginations of their wicked hearts.

President Pro Tempore Thomas J. Rusk: Nimrod, the seed of the serpent brought forth the Mystery religions which trace back to the doctrine of the serpent in the beginning.

Speaker of the House James Lawrence Orr:  Nimrod would reintroduce the fruit of the tree of knowledge and attempt to unify mankind under his rule but would instead would see the division of mankind through the confusion of tongues.

President Pro Tempore Benjamin Fitzpatrick:  The LORD would come down to earth to defeat the purposes of wicked man.

Speaker of the House William Pennington: Nimrod attempted to portray himself as the savior of mankind but in reality enslaved them.

President Pro Tempore Jesse D. Bright: Nimrod was the false branch, the false Christ who attempted to exalt himself as King.

President Pro Tempore Benjamin Fitzpatrick:  However, the fulfillment of the promise of the Savior would not come through Canaan’s seed, it would come forth from the lineage of Shem and Abraham.

President Pro Tempore Solomon Foot: Abraham would be called by God to leave Nimrod’s land of Babylon to go to the Promised Land where he would inherit the promise of the Seed of the woman.

The Presidency of James Buchanan was defined by the issue of the dividing of the nation. His main desire was to unite the country, yet it ended in division. This points to the days of Nimrod and the building of the Tower of Babel. A time when the peoples of the earth were unified, yet ended up being scattered by the confusing of the languages.

Abraham Lincoln Republican 3/4/1861-4/15/1865

Abraham Lincoln‘s Presidency portrays the time period after the dividing of the nations and the covenant that God cuts with Abraham. Abraham was promised to be the father of a multitude and in whom would come the Promised Seed, the Seed of the woman who would defeat the adversary of mankind.

Abraham means the father of a multitude. This points to the Patriarch Abraham (Genesis 17:5).

Lincoln traces back to a Brythonic word ‘lindo’ meaning a lake or pool which has the same meaning as the English word ‘linden’ speaking of a tree by rivers of water.  Lincoln also links back to the Latin word ‘colonia’ from whence comes the English word ‘colony.’

The linden tree portrays the tree by the rivers of waters spoken of in Psalm 2 which is a picture of the Tree of Life (Psalm 1:2-3; Revelation 22:2-3). This is pointing to the Messiah, the Seed of the woman who was promised to come through the lineage of Abraham (Galatians 3:16). The linden tree is seen in Isaiah 6:13, speaking of the remnant of Israel, the olive tree who are in the image and likeness of Messiah (Galatians 3:16-28).

In the Bible, waters also refer to masses of people ‘colonizing’ the earth (Psalm 65:7; Revelation 17:5).  Here in Lincoln’s last name is seen the dividing of the nations spoken of in Genesis 10 and the transfer of focus in the Biblical narrative to the days of Abraham who was promised to be a father of a multitude (Genesis 16:10), who would walk in the commandments of the Lord likened unto a tree by the rivers of water (Genesis 18:18-19; 26:5; Psalm 1:1).

Abraham Lincoln’s Presidency was defined by the Civil War and the abolitionof slavery. Secession of the South and the dividing of the Union began during the days of the previous President James Buchanan but came to full fruition because of Lincoln’s election to the office of President. This led the South to secede and began the conflict of the Civil War.

The Civil War lasted throughout Lincoln’s Presidency until his assassination which occurred just days after the surrender of General Lee at Appomattox. This is pointing to the days of the Patriarch Abraham who was called to leave his country and family (Genesis 12:1). In Abraham all peoples would be blessed by the Promised Seed who would come from his loins (Genesis 12:3; 15:4; 18:18; 22:18; Galatians 3:7-29). It is through this promise to Abraham of the Seed (Galatians 3:16) that all mankind would be united (Psalm 50:5; Isaiah 49:3-9; Hebrews 13:20-21; Jeremiah 50:5; Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 1:20; 2:1-11; Galatians 3:28).

Division and unification, this was theme of both Abraham Lincoln’s Presidency and the Patriarch Abraham’s call.

The Presidency of Abraham Lincoln is a picture of the days of mankind colonizing the earth after the dividing of the tongues and leading into the days of the Patriarch Abraham. Abraham was called to leave his family and land and travel to the land promised to him of the Most High where the Promised Seed would come. Abraham brought the Word/Light to the land of Canaan, living alongside the oaks and groves of Mamre. Called to walk before the Most High and be perfect.

The name meanings of Lincoln and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

God called Abraham to be a father of a multitude gives him the promise of the Seed of the woman, the ‘tree planted by the rivers of water.’  He was called to leave his land and family and travel to the ‘camp of the Lord.’  Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees to dwell in the land of Canaan, a stranger and pilgrim in the land of promise. He dwelt by groves, bringing the light of the Word to the nations.  He was drawn out of Babylon to travel to the land of Canaan to inherit the Lord’s blessing.  He was to be a teacher of righteousness, called to walk before God and be perfect. Abraham judged God as faithful to keep His promise and became a priest to the nations to carry forth this Word of Promise.  Abraham dwelt at peace with his neighbors.  The Promise and his teachings would pass down to his son Isaac.  Isaac was the son of God’s grace, the man who would picture the Promised Seed, Jesus Christ.  Abraham’s faith would pave the way by which man would become righteous before God and become the bride of Christ.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Abraham Lincoln: God called Abraham to be a father of a multitude gives him the promise of the Seed of the woman, the ‘tree planted by the rivers of water.’

Vice President Hannibal Hamlin: Abraham was called to leave his land and family and travel to the ‘camp of the Lord.’

Speaker of the House Galusha A. Grow: Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees to dwell in the land of Canaan, a stranger and pilgrim in the land of promise. He dwelt by groves, bringing the light of the Word to the nations.

President Pro Tempore Solomon Foot: Abraham was drawn out of Babylon to travel to the land of Canaan to inherit the Lord’s blessing.

Speaker of the House Schuyler Colfax: Abraham was to be a teacher of righteousness, called to walk before God and be perfect.

President Pro Tempore Daniel Clark: Abraham judged God as faithful to keep His promise and became a priest to the nations to carry forth this Word of Promise.

Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase:  Abraham dwelt at peace with his neighbors.  The Promise and his teachings would pass down to his son Isaac.

Vice President Andrew Johnson:  Isaac was the son of God’s grace, the man who fulfill God’s promise to Abraham and would picture the Promised Seed, Jesus Christ.

President Pro Tempore Lafayette S. Foster: Abraham would be declared righteous by his faith.  He would send his servant to his homeland to find a bride for him.  Isaac met his bride while dwelling in the wilderness.

Abraham Lincoln’s Presidency was defined by the Civil War and the abolition of slavery. This Civil War points to the division of the peoples after the Tower of Babel and the abolition of slavery links to the promise to Abraham of the Seed of the woman who would free mankind from the slavery to sin. Abraham’s call to come out of Babylon was paralleled in Lincoln’s life of growing from a belief in an impersonal God to faith in the God of Abraham whose Hand is active in the affairs of men.

Andrew Johnson National Union/Democrat 4/15/1865-3/4/1869

Andrew Johnson‘s name meaning is speaking of the Promised Seed of Abraham.   Literally this is speaking of his son Isaac, but ultimately is pointing to Christ Jesus. Isaac was a shadow picture of Messiah which is most prominently seen in his binding spoken of in Genesis 22. This was a clear picture of the crucifixion of Messiah.

Andrew comes from the Greek word ανηρ aner‘ which means man.

Johnson means son of John. Son of the grace of God. As mentioned previously, this is speaking of the Promised Seed of the woman who would crush the head of the serpent and deliver mankind from the bondage to sin and death.

This Seed would come from Abraham was the One who found grace in the eyes of the Most High.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

The Presidency of Andrew Johnson is speaking of the promise to Abraham and to His Seed, who is Messiah, partially fulfilled in Abraham’s lifetime in his son Isaac. The Promised Seed who defeats the crushes the serpent’s head, while having his heel bruised is seen in the offering of Isaac.

The name meanings of Johnson and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The son of God’s grace is promised to Abraham.  He would be the promised seed who would continue the covenant between God and Abraham to bless all nations.  Because of his faith, Abraham was declared righteous and given a son to fulfill God’s promise.  In his faith, Abraham sent his servant to his homeland to find Isaac a son.  Isaac was the son of Abraham’s right hand, who dwelt in the south land.  God was with Isaac in all his travels and led him to freedom in Gerar and Beersheba.  Isaac was God’s gift to Abraham, his beloved son who would be offered by Abraham to God as the ultimate act of obedient love.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Andrew Johnson: The son of God’s grace is promised to Abraham.

Speaker of the House Schuyler Colfax: Isaac was the promised seed who would continue the covenant between God and Abraham to bless all nations.

President Pro Tempore Lafayette S. Foster: Because of his faith, Abraham was declared righteous and given a son to fulfill God’s promise.  In his faith, Abraham sent his servant to his homeland to find Isaac a son.

President Pro Tempore Benjamin F. Wade:  Isaac was the son of Abraham’s right hand, who dwelt in the south land.  God was with Isaac in all his travels and led him to freedom in Gerar and Beersheba.

Speaker of the House Theodore Pomeroy: Isaac was God’s gift to Abraham, his beloved son who would be offered by Abraham to God as the ultimate act of obedient love.

Andrew Johnson’s Presidency was defined by the Reconstruction after the Civil War and his impeachment. The impeachment of Johnson is an incredible display of the binding of Isaac by his father Abraham.

Ulysses S. Grant Republican 3/4/1869-3/4/1877

Ulysses S. Grant‘s name meaning is speaking of the hatred between Jacob and Esau, where the elder was prophesied to serve the younger. This time period in American history personified this conflict as the North and South were still at odds after the Civil War and disagreements on how to handle Reconstruction. Grant’s fu
ll name was Hiram Ulysses Grant. Hiram means ‘exalted brother.’

Genesis 25:23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

Ulysses is the Latin form of Odysseus.  Odysseus comes from the Greek word οδυσσομαι ‘odyssomai’ meaning to hate. This points to the relationship between Jacob and Esau which is one defined by hate (Genesis 27:41; Obadiah 1:10).

It is not known what the middle initial S in Grant’s name means. Some have speculated that Grant’s middle initial S stood for Simpson which was the maiden name of his mother. Simpson means ‘son of Sim.’ Sim was a medieval short form of Simon. Simon comes from the Hebrew name שמעון ‘shimon’ which means ‘he hears.’ This points to the Lord hearing the prayer of Isaac in regards to Rebekah’s barren womb and her prayer to God about the twins within her womb (Genesis 25:21-23).

The letter S comes from the Greek ‘sigma’ which traces back further to the Hebrew letter ס ‘samekh.’  Samekh is the picture of a thorn.  In Hebrew, thorns are linked to hatred. The words in Hebrew for thorn and hatred both come from the same root סן ‘sin.’

Grant comes from the Norman French word ‘grand’ which means great or large. This again is pointing to the elder or ‘greater’ serving the younger (Genesis 25:23).

The name meaning of Ulysses S. Grant is depicting the time period of the conflict between Jacob and Esau which spanned Genesis 25:21-28:22. This encompasses the birth of Jacob and Esau, Esau selling his birthright, famine and the covenant between Abimelech and Isaac unto the theft of the blessing by Jacob which led to his leaving Canaan to escape the wrath of Esau.

The Presidency of Ulysses S. Grant is a picture of the conflicts between Jacob and Esau. The elder is prophecied to serve the younger with the promise of the Seed of the woman coming through Jacob, not Esau because of his fleshly desires. Due to the hatred of Esau, Jacob flees to Padan Aram.

The name meanings of Grant and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The Lord chose Jacob to be the exalted brother of Isaac and Rebekah where the elder would serve the younger.  The relationship between these twin brothers would be defined by hatred and conflict. Jacob was a man dwelling in tents, taking up the education of his ancestors which would lead to his maturity in the Word of Promise.  Jacob supplanted the birthright from Esau who despised it for a pottage of lentils.  Jacob, the younger, became the leader of the family.  Jacob would also supplant the blessing from Esau in which he would be fruitful and flourish.  Jacob would have to flee from his birthright and blessing to escape Esau’s wrath.  However, even in hiding and after deceiving his father Isaac, Jacob would receive God’s gift of the blessing.  Jacob was exiled into Padan Aram where he would hide from his brother until the time would come when he could return to Canaan to realize the blessing and birthright.  Jacob the twin, the plain man would travel to Padan Aram where God and the fear of Isaac would be with him.  As Jacob left Canaan on his way to Padan Aram he would meet with God and proclaim His awesomeness.  God had heard Esau’s threats against Jacob and gave him his grace and protection against them.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Ulysses S. Grant: The Lord chose Jacob to be the exalted brother of Isaac and Rebekah where the elder would serve the younger.  The relationship between these twin brothers would be defined by hatred and conflict.

Speaker of the House Schuyler Colfax: The relationship between Jacob and Esau would be defined by hatred and conflict. Jacob was a man dwelling in tents, taking up the education of his ancestors which would lead to his maturity in the Word of Promise.

Speaker of the House James G. Blaine: Jacob supplanted the birthright from Esau who despised it for a pottage of lentils.

President Pro Tempore Henry B. Anthony: Jacob, the younger, became the leader of the family.  Jacob would also supplant the blessing from Esau in which he would be fruitful and flourish.

Vice President Henry Wilson: Jacob would have to flee from his birthright and blessing to escape Esau’s wrath.

President Pro Tempore Matthew H. Carpenter: However, even in hiding and after deceiving his father Isaac, Jacob would receive God’s gift of the blessing.

Chief Justice Morrison Waite:  Jacob left Canaan to dwell in Padan Aram to escape the wrath of his brother.

President Pro Tempore Henry B. Anthony:  Jacob was exiled into Padan Aram where he would hide from his brother until the time would come when he could return to Canaan to realize the blessing and birthright.

President Pro Tempore Thomas W. Ferry: Jacob the twin, the plain one, traveled from Canaan to Padan Aram where God and Isaac’s fear would dwell with him.

Speaker of the House Michael C. Kerr:  As Jacob left Canaan on his way to Padan Aram  he would meet with God and proclaim His awesomeness.

Speaker of the House Samuel J. Randall: God had heard Esau’s threats against Jacob and gave him his grace and protection against them.

The constant turmoil in the country during Ulysses Grant’s Presidency depicts the constant conflicts seen in the narrative between Jacob and Esau. The corruption in the Grant administration, the Treaty of Washington and the 1873 Economic Depression all display the early years of the two brothers of Isaac.

Rutherford B. Hayes Republican 3/4/1877-3/4/1881

The name meaning of RutherfordB. Hayes is picturing Jacob’s fleeing from Esau and dwelling in the land of Padan Aram as a shepherd with Laban.

Rutherford is a surname in Scotland.  The name has shady derivations but is related to the Celtic word ‘ruther’ which means red and a ford, which is shallow place in a river that is crossed over.  It was due to the threat of Esau (who is known as Edom meaning red – Genesis 25:30) that Jacob had to flee Canaan over the river Jordan towards Haran.

The Hebrew word for ‘ford’ is עבר ‘avar’ which is the source of the word עברית ‘ivrit’ which means Hebrew. It was during this time that the blessing of Abraham the Hebrew (Genesis 14:13) passed to Jacob (Genesis 26:12-15).

Birchard means ‘hardy birches, dweller of the hard birch.’  Birchard comes from the English ‘birch’ and the Germanic ‘ard’ meaning hard or hardy.  This word traces back further to the Hebrew word ברק ‘baraq’ which means bright or white, as in the bark of the birch tree. The birch is a tree which gets its name from its white color. After fleeing from Esau and traveling towards Padan Aram, Jacob went to live with Laban (Genesis 28:2) whose name in Hebrew means white.

Hayes is based on the Old English word ‘haes’ which means brushwood or underwood, an enclosure or hedge. Brushwood was used by the ancients, especially shepherds, to make temporary dwellings.  This was the occupation of Jacob as he served Laban for twenty years (Genesis 31:38-41).

Rutherford B. Hayes Presidency is a picture of Jacob fleeing from Esau to the land of Padan Aram where he serves Laban for 20 years as a shepherd. Here Jacob is concealed from the wrath of his brother.

The name meanings of Hayes and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Due to Esau’s anger over Jacob ‘supplanting’ his birthright and blessing, Jacob crosses over Jordan and flees to the land of Laban who he serves for twenty years as a shepherd.  Jacob desired protection so he travels from his homeland to be hidden from the wrath of his brother.  The Lord heared the promise of vengeance which comes from Esau and delivers Jacob from his hand.  Jacob, the ‘plain one’ of Isaac’s twins, travels to Mesopotamia where he meets the beautiful Rachel at a well.  In Padan Aram, Jacob dwell’s under God’s protection.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Rutherford B. Hayes: Due to Esau’s anger over Jacob ‘supplanting’ his birthright and blessing, Jacob crosses over Jordan and flees to the land of Laban who he serves for twenty years as a shepherd.

Vice President William A. Wheeler:  Jacob desired protection so he travels from his homeland to be hidden from the wrath of his brother.

Speaker of the House Samuel J. Randall: God had heard Esau’s threats against Jacob and gave him his grace and protection against them.

President Pro Tempore Thomas W. Ferry:  Jacob the twin, the plain one, traveled from Canaan to Padan Aram where God and Isaac’s fear would dwell with him.

President Pro Tempore Allen G. Thurman: Jacob travels to Mesopotamia where he meets the beautiful Rachel at a well.  In Padan Aram, Jacob dwell’s under God’s protection.

Rutherford B. Hayes Presidency is a picture of Jacob fleeing from Esau to the land of Padan Aram where he serves Laban for 20 years as a shepherd. Here Jacob is concealed from the wrath of his brother.

James A. Garfield Republican 3/4/1881-9/19/1881

James Garfield‘s name meaning is speaking of the days of Jacob dwelling with Laban where is he deceived on numerous occasions. This is the ‘strange land’ where the 12 tribes are born.

James means supplanter, from the Hebrew name Jacob.

Abram means exalted father.

Garfield means a ‘triangle field’ or ‘spear field.’  Garfield comes from an English surname that derives from ‘gar’ meaning a triangular piece of land and ‘feld’ meaning open space. A triangle is three sided tracing back to the Hebrew word שליש ‘shaliysh’ which can mean something of great measure (Psalm 80:5; Isaiah 40:12). This is speaking of the wealth obtained by Jacob in Padan Aram (Genesis 31:1).

‘Gar’ in Hebrew isגר ‘gar’ which means a stranger.  This points to Jacob who was living as a foreigner in a strange land (Psalm 39:12; Genesis 28:20-22).

Here we see James Garfield’s name referring to the relationship between Jacob and Laban where Laban (the father who supplants) deceives or supplants Jacob on numerous occasions (Genesis 29:23; 31:41) but Jacob comes out wealthier in the end (Genesis 31:1; 32:10).

Garfield also has the meaning of ‘spear field.’ Shepherds used their rods as spears in ancient times to defend their flocks.  The word for rod or spear in Hebrew is שבט ‘shevet’ which is also the word for a tribe.  It is in a strange land, that the tribes of Israel were born (Genesis 29:32-30:24).

The Presidency of James A. Garfield is speaking of Jacob dwelling with Laban and the birth of his twelve sons and to the time when he begins his return to the land of Canaan.

The name meanings of Garfield and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Due to conflict with Esau, Jacob flees to Padan Aram where he would live as a stranger and become the “exalted father” of the tribes of Israel.  Jacob finds his beautiful bride as well as rest and protection in land of his mother.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President James A. Garfield: Due to conflict with Esau, Jacob flees to Padan Aram where he would live as a stranger and become the “exalted father” of the tribes of Israel.

Vice President Chester A. Arthur: Jacob finds his beautiful bride as well as rest and protection in land of his mother.

Garfield’s Presidency is defined by his attempts to rid corruption in government which led to his assassination. His short Presidency parallels the life of Jacob as a shepherd in the land of Padan Aram who had to overcome the corrupt ways of his father-in-law Laban.

Chester A. Arthur Republican 9/19/1881-3/4/1885

Chester A. Arthur‘s name meaning is referring to Jacob traveling back to the land of Canaan where he wrestles with a ‘Man’ and becomes Israel.

Chester comes from the Latin word ‘castrum’ meaning a fortified place tracing back to the Hebrew letter ח ‘chet’ which has the same meaning.

Alan means ‘little rock’ or perhaps ‘handsome’ in Breton.

Arthur comes from the Celtic words ‘artos’ meaning a ‘bear’ and ‘viros’ meaning a man or ‘rigos’ meaning a king.

Chet is a wall or a fortified place.  Little rock is what Messiah called Peter when he proclaimed Him as Messiah (Matthew 16:18).  On this rock, or fortified place, “I will build my church”.  Arthur means man/king bear.  The Hebrew word for bear is דוב ‘dov,’ whose pictograph letter meanings literally say ‘the one who is connected to the door of the tent.’  Who is the door of the tent?  Messiah (John 10:9).

This deeper meaning of Chester Arthur’s name points to Jacob wrestling with the Angel where he matures from a man to a ‘king.’  The Hebrew word for bear, דוב ‘dov,’ also means sorrow.  When Jacob left Laban and traveled back to the land of Canaan, his heart was filled with sorrow.  This was a picture of Jacob’s trouble in the end of days (Jeremiah 30:7).  It is on the way to meet Esau that Jacob wrestles with a Man (Genesis 32:24-32), and was renamed Israel (Genesis 32:28; Hosea 12:3-5).  Israel means one who rules with God…a king (Exodus 19:6).

Chester A. Arthur’s Presidency is a picture of the time of Jacob’s departure from Laban and the covenant they made to his returning to the land of Canaan, wrestling the Angel of the Lord and becoming Israel.

The name meanings of Arthur and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Jacob was protected from Esau in Padan Aram where he met his beautiful bride Rachel.  The Lord called Jacob to return home which brought him sorrow knowing he would have to face Esau.  On the way back, Jacob wrestled with an Angel and was renamed Israel.  Jacob the twin prospered in Padan Aram which gave him the ability to send gifts to appease his brother Esau.  Jacob was the beloved of the Lord while Esau was hated.  After meeting with Esau, Benjamin was born on Jacob’s way back to Bethel with Jacob commanding his family to get rid of their idols.  They would then dwell in the land of Edar.  God protected Jacob and made him prosperous while he was in Padan Aram and in his journey back to Canaan.  Jacob was transformed from the supplanter to Israel, the Prince who rules with God.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Chester A. Arthur: Jacob was protected from Esau in Padan Aram where he met his beautiful bride Rachel.  The Lord called Jacob to return home which brought him sorrow knowing he would have to face Esau.  Jacob was transformed from the supplanter to Israel, the Prince who rules with God.

President Pro Tempore Thomas F. Bayard Sr.: Jacob the twin prospered in Padan Aram which gave him the ability to send gifts to appease his brother Esau.

President Pro Tempore David Davis: Jacob was the beloved of the Lord while Esau was hated.

Speaker of the House J. Warren Keifer:  After meeting with Esau, Benjamin was born on Jacob’s way back to Bethel with Jacob commanding his family to get rid of their idols.  They would then dwell in the land of Edar.

President Pro Tempore George F. Edmunds: God protected Jacob and made him prosperous while he was in Padan Aram and in his journey back to Canaan.

Speaker of the House John G. Carlisle: Jacob was transformed from the supplanter to Israel, the Prince who rules with God.

Chester Arthur became President after the assassination of President Garfield. He was widely distrusted at the beginning of his Presidency but ended his term being respected by friend and foe. Here in Arthur’s Presidency is seen the life of Jacob who rose to power through corruption, yet in the end chose to walk righteousness.

Grover Cleveland Democrat 3/4/1885-3/4/1889

Grover Cleveland‘s name meaning is speaking of the time of Jacob wrestling the Angel where he becomes Israel. No longer was he Jacob the supplanter but Israel the upright one who rules with God.

His full name was Stephen Grover Cleveland.

Stephen comes from the Greek name Στεφανος ‘Stephanos’ meaning a crown.

Grover comes from the Old English ‘graf’ which means a grove of trees. In Hebrew a grove is אשרה ‘asherah’ which comes from the root אשר ‘asher’ which means upright.  This is also the root of ישרון ‘yeshurun’ the ‘pet’ name of Israel (Isaiah 44:2).

Cleveland comes from the Old English meaning ‘hilly land.’  Hilly land is a reference to the land of Israel (Deuteronomy 8:7; 11:11). Here then in Cleveland’s name is a depiction of Jacob returning to the ‘hilly land’ of Canaan where he becomes an ‘upright king.’

Grover Cleveland’s Presidency is a picture of Jacob wrestling with The Man, becoming Israel, the prince who rules with God. Transforming from a fleshly man of doubt and deceit to a spiritual man of faithfulness and uprightness. He is no longer the supplanter Jacob, he is now the prince who rules with God, Israel.

The name meanings of Cleveland and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Jacob returns to the land of Canaan where he wrestles with the Man and becomes Israel, the prince ruling with God.   Jacob had doubt and fear as he traveled from Padan Aram to Canaan because he knew he would have to meet with Esau, the reason he left Canaan in the first place.  On the way back to Canaan Jacob meets with a camp of angels, the place of which he names Mahanaim.  Jacob’s wrestling match with the Angel was the culmination of him maturing from Jacob the supplanter, to Israel the prince.  Jacob divided his family into two camps and sends gifts to Esau in preparation for their meeting.  The twins would meet again, with Esau kissing Jacob instead of killing him.  Jacob overcame his trial with his brother through the wrestling match with the Angel in which he was humbled and caused to limp the rest of his life.  Although Jacob had matured into a man of God, his families journey had just begun.  Their carnal natures would ultimately lead them into slavery in Egypt.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Grover Cleveland: Jacob returns to the land of Canaan where he wrestles with the Man and becomes Israel, the prince ruling with God.

Vice President Thomas A. Hendricks: Jacob had doubt and fear as he traveled from Padan Aram to Canaan because he knew he would have to meet with Esau, the reason he left Canaan in the first place.  On the way back to Canaan Jacob meets with a camp of angels, the place of which he names Mahanaim.

Speaker of the House John Carlisle: On the way back to Canaan Jacob meets with a camp of angels, the place of which he names Mahanaim.  Jacob’s wrestling match with the Angel was the culmination of him maturing from Jacob the supplanter, to Israel the prince.

President Pro Tempore John Sherman: Jacob divided his family into two camps and sends gifts to Esau in preparation for their meeting.

Secretary of State Thomas F. Bayard:  The twins would meet again, with Esau kissing Jacob instead of killing him.

President Pro Tempore John James Ingalls:  Jacob overcame his trial with his brother through the wrestling match with the Angel in which he was humbled and caused to limp the rest of his life.

Chief Justice Melville Fuller: Although Jacob had matured into a man of God, his families journey had just begun.  Their carnal natures would ultimately lead them into slavery in Egypt.

Cleveland was widely known by one defining trait. Honesty. This is the character trait of honesty and uprightness is what Jacob acquired in Padan Aram and was fully manifested in his wrestlings with the Angel of God. Cleveland’s Libertarian approach to the Presidency which led him to be called the ‘Guardian President’ and the ‘Veto President’ links to Jacob’s return to Canaan and his wrestling match as well.

Benjamin Harrison Republican 3/4/1889-3/4/1893

Benjamin Harrison‘s name meaning is speaking of the days of Jacob and his family dwelling in the land of Canaan. This is the period of Benjamin’s birth and Joseph’s dreams.

Benjamin comes from the Hebrew בנימין ‘Binyamin’ which means son of the right hand.

Henry comes from the Germanic words ‘heim’ meaning home and ‘ric’ meaning power or ruler.

Harrison means son of Harry which comes from the names Henry and Harold.  Henry again means home power or ruler.  Harold comes from the Old English name ‘Hereweald’ meaning leader of the army.  ‘Here’ meaning army and ‘weald’ meaning leader or ruler.

This is speaking of the time of Jacob and his children dwelling in the land of Canaan, as strangers and sojourners (Psalm 105:12), yet rulers (Genesis 48:22). This was the period of Benjamin’s birth (Genesis 35:16-18). The ‘son of Jacob’s right hand’ was Joseph, the one who would rule over his brethren (Genesis 37:5-11; 44:14; 45:9) yet was a stranger (Genesis 42:8; 49:26). Benjamin would take up the position of ‘son of Jacob’s right hand’ after Joseph was sold into Egypt (Genesis 42:38; 44:20, 30).

The Presidency of Benjamin Harrison is speaking of the time period of Jacob dwelling in the land of Canaan. This is the period of time that Levi and Simeon slaughtered an entire city after Shechem defiled their sister. Harrison’s presidency is also the time that Joseph becomes a prominent figure in the narrative of the Bible.

The name meanings of Harrison and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Jacob dwells in the land of Canaan with his family as strangers and sojourners, yet rulers.  Benjamin was born during this time.  Shechem defiles Jacob’s daughter Dinah which leads to his demise by the hands of Levi and Simeon.  Levi and Simeon rage against the inhabitants of Shechem and shed their blood due to the mistreatment of their sister.  Jacob was distressed at their actions but was protected by the Angel of the Lord.  Jacob desired peace with his neighbors and was given protection by the Lord, who reiterated to him the promise of Abraham.  Jacob chastised his sons for their violence as he wished to live in peace in the land.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Benjamin Harrison: Jacob dwells in the land of Canaan with his family as strangers and sojourners, yet rulers.  Benjamin was born during this time.

Vice President Levi P. Morton: Shechem defiles Jacob’s daughter Dinah which leads to his demise by the hands of Levi and Simeon.

Speaker of the House Thomas Brackett Reed:  Levi and Simeon rage against the inhabitants of Shechem and shed their blood due to the mistreatment of their sister.

President Pro Tempore John James Ingalls: Jacob was distressed at their actions but was protected by the Angel of the Lord.

President Pro Tempore Charles F. Manderson: Jacob desired peace with his neighbors and was given protection by the Lord, who reiterated to him the promise of Abraham.

Speaker of the House Charles Frederick Crisp: Jacob chastised his sons for their violence as he wished to live in peace in the land.

Harrison’s Presidency is most remembered for the McKinley Tariff which led to the formation of monopolies and the Sherman Antitrust Act which did the exact opposite. This legislation depicts Israel’s dealings with the inhabitants of Shechem, first agreeing to join the people and then slaughtering them. Six states were admitted to the Union during Harrison’s Presidency, the most since George Washington. This points to Jacob’s ‘spreading’ his tent in Canaan.

Grover Cleveland Democrat 3/4/1893-3/4/1897

Grover Cleveland‘s name meaning is pointing to Jacob dwelling in the land of Canaan. His first term was a picture of Jacob dwelling in the land of Canaan after coming out of Padan Aram. His second term displays Jacob dwelling in the land after the slaughter of the inhabitants of Shechem. This is significant as these time periods parallel in Jacob’s life. When Jacob left Padan Aram on his way back to Canaan he had to face the danger of meeting his brother Esau (Genesis 32:7). On the way back, Jacob wrestled with the Angel and was renamed Israel (Genesis 32:24-30). After the slaughter of Shechem, Jacob faced the danger of the wrath of his neighbors (Genesis 34:30), yet he was protected (Genesis 35:5) and yet again met God where it was re-iterated that his name was no longer to be Jacob, but now Israel (Genesis 35:7-15).

Stephen comes from the Greek name Στεφανος ‘Stephanos’ meaning a crown, referring to Jacob being proclaimed as Israel, the ruler or ‘king’ with God.

Grover comes from the Old English ‘graf’ which means a grove of trees tracing back to the Hebrew word אשרה ‘asherah’ which comes from the root אשר ‘asher’ which means upright.  This is also the root of ישרון ‘yeshurun’ the ‘pet’ name of Israel.

Isaiah 44:1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

Isaiah 44:2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

Notice the admonition of the Lord that Israel not fear. When Jacob came out of Padan Aram he dealt with the fear associated with meeting his brother Esau. After the slaughter of Shechem, he dealt with the fear of possible retribution coming from the inhabitants of Canaan.

Cleveland comes from the Old English meaning ‘hilly land.’  Hilly land describing the land of Israel (Deuteronomy 8:7; 11:11).

The defining aspects of Grover Cleveland’s second term as President were the Panic of 1893 where the stock market crashed and caused the worst economic depression in the country’s history until that time. This connects to the panic or fear that Jacob felt after Levi and Simeon slaughtered the people of Shechem (Genesis 34:30).

Grover Cleveland’s second term is speaking of Jacob’s time in the land of Canaan after the slaughter of the inhabitants of Shechem, his fear of retributation and the protection of God that was given to him by the Lord’s fear being placed upon the inhabitants of the land.

The name meanings of Cleveland and the other heads of government during his second Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Jacob dwells in the land of promise, as Israel, the one who rules with God. The justice of the Lord is revealed through punishment on the heathen and the protection of His covenant people, Israel. Jacob desired to live at peace amongst the people of Canaan but after the slaughter of Shechem he loses faith that this will happen.  God protects Jacob however, making him a peaceful ruler in the land.  After Dinah was defiled and the quarrel with Shechem had ended, Jacob traveled to Bethel, the House of God where the Lord promised to make him fruitful.  The promise to Abraham was reconfirmed with Jacob, who became the ruler of Abraham’s family.  Jacob is protected from the wrath of his neighbors and travels to Bethel where he is given the gift of God’s covenant promises.  Afterwards he travels to Ephrath where he is given the gift of a son.  Jacob then traveled to Edar where he found rest.  Jacob is promised to bring forth the fullness of the nations, a company of gentiles.  The Lord cleared the way that he might live at peace amongst his neighbors.  Jacob was given his desired protection, and set up a pillar of stone in remembrance of the Lord appearing and talking to him.  Benjamin is born, completing the family of Israel.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Grover Cleveland: Jacob dwells in the land of promise, as Israel, the one who rules with God.

Vice President Adlai Stevenson: The justice of the Lord is revealed through punishment on the heathen and the protection of His covenant people, Israel.

Speaker of the House Charles Frederick Crisp: Jacob desired to live at peace amongst the people of Canaan but after the slaughter of Shechem he loses faith that this will happen.

President Pro Tempore Charles F. Manderson:  God protects Jacob, making him a peaceful ruler in the land.

President Pro Tempore Isham G. Harris: After Dinah was defiled and the quarrel with Shechem had ended, Jacob traveled to Bethel, the House of God where the Lord promised to make him fruitful.  The promise to Abraham was reconfirmed with Jacob, who became the ruler of Abraham’s family.

President Pro Tempore Matt W. Ransom: Jacob is protected from the wrath of his neighbors and travels to Bethel where he is given the gift of God’s covenant promises.  Afterwards he travels to Ephrath where he is given the gift of a son.

President Pro Tempore Isham G. Harris: Jacob travels to Edar where he finds rest and rules in peace.

Speaker of the House Thomas Brackett Reed: Jacob is promised to bring forth the fullness of the nations, a company of gentiles.  The Lord cleared the way that he might live at peace amongst his neighbors.

President Pro Tempore William P. Frye: Jacob was given his desired protection, and set up a pillar of stone in remembrance of the Lord appearing and talking to him.  Benjamin is born, completing the family of Israel.

Cleveland’s second term was defined by the Panic of 1893 where the stock market crashed and caused the worst economic depression in the country’s history until that time. This displays the panic or fear that Jacob felt after Levi and Simeon slaughtered the people of Shechem.

William McKinley Republican 3/4/1897-9/14/1901

William McKinley‘s name meaning is speaking of Jacob’s desire for protection against the inhabitants of Canaan after Levi and Simeon’s massacre of the city of Shechem.

William comes from the Germanic words ‘wil’ meaning desire and ‘helm’ meaning the head, or helmet/protection. After Shechem, the son of Hamor defiled Jacob’s daughter Dinah, Simeon and Levi destroyed the people of the land.  Jacob worried that the inhabitants of the land would seek to attack him because of this.  He desired protection which is seen in the name the name William (Genesis 34:30).

McKinley means son of Kinley which is an Anglicized form of ‘Mac Fhionnlaigh’ meaning ‘son of Fionnlagh.’  Fionlaggh comes from the Gaelic ‘fion’ meaning white or fair and ‘laogh’ meaning warrior.

After the situation in Shechem, Jacob rose up to go to Bethel (Genesis 35:1), where the Lord first gave him the promise of Abraham (Genesis 28:11-22).  Jacob tells his children to cleanse their clothing, making them white or ‘fion,’ and to put away the strange gods from their midst (Genesis 35:1-4). It is here that God puts fear into the hearts of the inhabitants of the land, giving Jacob his desired protection.  Jacob ‘puts on’ the helmet of salvation, the ‘head’ of Israel who is Messiah (1Thessalonians 5:8; Genesis 48:16; 49:18; Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18). It is during McKinley’s Presidency that the Biblical narrative turns to the life of Joseph, whose life is an incredible picture of the Messiah. This will be spoken of in more detail in the next chapter.

Jacob’s ‘desired protection’ of which William McKinleys’ name is referring to is summed up in McKinley’s own words which he spoke during his first Inagural Address:

“I assume the arduous and responsible duties of President of the United States, relying upon the support of my countrymen and invoking the guidance of Almighty God. Our faith teaches that there is no safer reliance than upon the God of our fathers, who has so singularly favored the American people in every national trial, and who will not forsake us so long as we obey His commandments and walk humbly in His footsteps”

McKinley’s words ‘who will not forsake us so long as we obey His commandments and walk humbly in His footsteps’ also line up with the time frame of Jacob dwelling in the promised land. In the previous chapter on Cleveland, the ‘hilly land’ of Israel is spoken of in reference to Deuteronomy 8:7 and 11:11. In both of these portions of Scripture, the Lord begins with the command to Israel that they are to walk humbly in His ways.

Deuteronomy 8:5 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

Deuteronomy 8:6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

Deuteronomy 8:7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

Deuteronomy 8:8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

Deuteronomy 11:8 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;

Deuteronomy 11:9 And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

Deuteronomy 11:10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:

Deuteronomy 11:11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:

Deuteronomy 11:12 A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

William McKinley’s presidency continues the Biblical narrative on the conflict between Israel and the inhabitants of the land. It is during this time that Joseph shares his dreams that he is to rule over his family which leads to his being sold into Egypt where he is tested, tried and exalted.

The name meanings of McKinley and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

After the slaughter of the inhabitants of Shechem, Jacob desired protection from the inhabitants of Canaan.  Jacob tells his children to cleanse their clothing and make them white, to put away the strange gods from their midst.  God puts fear into the hearts of the people of Canaan, giving Jacob his desired protection.  Joseph interprets his dreams and shares them to his family where he is to rule over them.  His dreams enraged his brothers who abused him and put him into a pit where Midianite traders would sell him into Egypt.  His brothers took his coat and covered it in blood to deceive their father into thinking he was dead.  The Word of the Lord would try Joseph in Egypt who would be raised to power in order to save the lives of many.  Israel would go down into Egypt in search for grain in which they would be reunited with Joseph as the ruler of the land.  Joseph was Jacob’s beloved son, sold into slavery, thought to be dead but found again living out the fulfillment of his dreams.  Joseph was given as a gift from God to save the lives of many and would lead his family into the land of Goshen.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President William McKinley: After the slaughter of the inhabitants of Shechem, Jacob desired protection from the inhabitants of Canaan.  Jacob tells his children to cleanse their clothing and make them white, to put away the strange gods from their midst.  God puts fear into the hearts of the people of Canaan, giving Jacob his desired protection.

Vice President Garret Hobart: Joseph interprets his dreams and shares them to his family where he is to rule over them.

Speaker of the House Thomas Brackett Reed: Joseph’s dreams enraged his brothers who abused him and put him into a pit where Midianite traders would sell him into Egypt.  His brothers took his coat and covered it in blood to deceive their father into thinking he was dead.

President Pro Tempore William P. Frye: The Word of the Lord would try Joseph in Egypt who would be raised to power in order to save the lives of many.

Secretary of State John Hay:   Israel would go down into Egypt in search for grain in which they would be reunited with Joseph as the ruler of the land.

Speaker of the House David B. Henderson:  Joseph was Jacob’s beloved son, sold into slavery, thought to be dead but found again living out the fulfillment of his dreams.

Vice President Theodore Roosevelt: Joseph was given as a gift from God to save the lives of many and would lead his family into the land of Goshen.

McKinley’s Presidency was defined by the Spanish-American War of 1898 and his assassination. The Spanish-American war depicts Jacob’s dwellings in the land of Canaan and the conflict between Joseph and his brothers. His assassination points to Joseph’s being thrown into a pit and then sold into Egypt.

Theodore Roosevelt Republican 9/14/1901-3/4/1909

Theodore Roosevelt‘s name meaning is speaking of Joseph, sent into Egypt to preserve life.

Theodore comes from the Greek name Θεοδωρος ‘Theodoros’ which means gift of God. θεος ‘theos’ means god and δωρον ‘doron’ means gift. This gift of God is speaking of Joseph, who would be sent to Egypt to save the lives of many (Genesis 50:20).

Roosevelt means a rose field. This pointing to the land of Goshen as the Nile delta is likened unto a rose. Goshen would be the safe haven that Israel would dwell in during the world wide famine which occurred during Joseph’s tenure as ruler of Egypt. This also points to the ‘rose’ of Sharon, who is Messiah (Song of Songs 2:1-4). Joseph’s life is an incredible picture of the life of Messiah, who is THE gift of God (John 3:16).

Joseph had a barren mother (Genesis 29:31; Luke 1:27), he was a shepherd (Genesis 37:2; John 10:11), sent by his father (Genesis 37:13; Mark 12:1-11) to observe the state of affairs of his people but was hated by his brethren (Genesis 37:8; John 15:23-25) and rejected (Genesis 37:20; Luke 17:25). They conspired against him (Genesis 37:19; Psalm 2:1; 41:9; Matthew 26:59; 27:1; Acts 4:26-28), he was sold for silver (Genesis 37:28; Matthew 27:3-10) and threw him into a pit (Genesis 37:22; Isaiah 53:9; Matthew 27:57-60) but was not there when his brothers returned (Genesis 37:29; Matthew 28:6). His garments were torn (Genesis 37:34; Luke 23:45) and covered in blood (Genesis 37:31; Revelation 19:11-16). He was falsely accused (Genesis 39:14; Matthew 26:59) and imprisoned with two criminals (Genesis 40; Matthew 27:38) He became a stranger to them (Genesis 42:7; Psalm 69:8) while ascending to the right hand of the king (Genesis 37:3; John 6:62) but was later made known to them (Genesis 45:1; Zechariah 12:10).

The Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt depicts Joseph’s trials and exaltation. He was sold into Egypt, lifted up as ruler of Potiphar’s house only to be imprisoned. Yet, even in prison is given a position of leadership where he later is exalted to the position of ruler of Egypt.

The name meanings of Roosevelt and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

God sends a gift to the world by the sending forth Joseph to the land of Egypt to save the lives of many.  The beloved son of Jacob is sold into Egypt due to the fury of his brothers where he becomes ruler of Potiphar’s house. Through the fury of Potiphar he is put into prison only to become ruler of all of Egypt. Joseph was sent into Egypt to preserve life that the promise to Jacob might be continued.  Joseph would be the ruler of Egypt, collecting bread to preserve life through the famine, leading to his brother kneeling before him.  Joseph endured the trials and discipline of the Lord and came out of them with great blessings.  He was sold into Egypt, put into prison but ended up as the exalted ruler of Egypt.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Theodore Roosevelt: God sends a gift to the world by the sending forth Joseph to the land of Egypt to save the lives of many.

Speaker of the House David B. Henderson: The beloved son of Jacob is sold into Egypt due to the fury of his brothers where he becomes ruler of Potiphar’s house.  Through the fury of Potiphar he is put into prison only to become ruler of all of Egypt.

President Pro Tempore William P. Frye: Joseph would be the ruler of Egypt, collecting bread to preserve life through the famine, leading to his brother kneeling before him.

Secretary of State John Hay: Joseph endured the trials and discipline of the Lord and came out of them with great blessings.

Speaker of the House Joseph Gurney Cannon: Joseph was sold into Egypt, put into prison but ended up as the exalted ruler of Egypt.

Roosevelt’s life parallels Joseph’s on numerous levels. Joseph’s ‘goodly form,’ his dreams and the conflict with his brothers, his imprisonment and rulership in Egypt are all depicted in Roosevelt’s life. His Presidency was defined by transforming America in a world power which corresponds with Joseph’s rulership in Egypt.

William Howard Taft Republican 3/4/1909-3/4/1913

William Howard Taft‘s name meaning is speaking of the hope of salvation of mankind. This is pictured in Joseph during the seven years of famine and ultimately pointing to the Son of God who would be sent as salvation for all of mankind.

William comes from the Germanic words ‘wil’ meaning desire and ‘helm’ meaning the head, or helmet/protection. This is pointing to Jacob’s desire of ‘protection’ from the famine (Genesis 42:1-2) and on a deeper level, the hope of salvation of mankind (Genesis 47:13-26).

Howard derives from several sources.  The first source is the Anglo-Norman name ‘Huard’ which comes from the Germanic name ‘Hughard.’  Hughard comes from the word ‘hug’ meaning heart or mind and ‘hard’ meaning brave. Howard then has the meaning of ‘braveheart.’

Howard also traces back to the Old Norse name ‘Havardr.’  ‘Havardr’ comes from ‘ha’ meaning high and ‘varor’ meaning guardian or defender. ‘Havardr’ is related to the Middle English word ‘ewehirde’ which means a ‘ewe herder’ or shepherd. The guardian from on high.

This is pointing to Joseph, who was a picture of the Good Shepherd who feeds His flock in the midst of trouble, the Angel who fed Jacob all the days of his life (Genesis 48:15; Psalm 23:1-6).

Taft is of Old French origin meaning ‘homestead.’  It could also trace to an Old English word meaning ‘marsh or river.’ This is referring to the days of Israel dwelling in Goshen (Genesis 47:27) which was situated in the Nile Delta formed because of the Nile River.

Here we see a picture of the Lord answering Jacob’s desire for His Salvation, His ישועה ‘yeshuah’ (Genesis 49:18).  On the surface level, this is speaking of Joseph being sent into Egypt for the salvation of mankind during his days (Genesis 50:2), but ultimately to the salvation of mankind through the Son of God. The Hebrew word ישועה ‘yeshuah,’ is the source of the Hebrew name of Jesus, ישוע ‘Yeshua.’ ישוע ‘Yeshua’ literally means the Shepherd who watches over His flock, saving them from their enemies.

This hope in Him, while dwelling in the Promised Land is associated with a ‘braveheart’ (Deuteronomy 3:28; 31:6-7, 23; Joshua 1:6-9; 10:25) and to the time of Jacob blessing his children in Egypt (Genesis 49:18).  Bravery in Hebrew is אמץ ‘amatz’ which means strength.  This is linked with putting on the helmet of salvation (1 Corinthians 16:13; Ephesians 6:10-18).

William Howard Taft’s Presidency is a picture of the hope of Jacob for the Lord’s salvation. Salvation from the inhabitants of Canaan, from famine, and deliverance from Egypt at the set time. This is the period of time where Joseph was sent to prison and delivered out to become the right hand man of Pharaoh which is a shadow picture of the death and resurrection of the Messiah who would ascend to the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven. This is the fulfillment of mankind’s desire for salvation.

The name meanings of Taft and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Jacob desired protection during the famine so he sent his sons to Egypt to gather food to preserve their lives.  This led to Israel being reunited with Joseph, the guardian of the riches of Egypt.  Joseph had been wrongfully imprisoned as he was tested by the Word of the Lord but later brought into great blessing becoming the ruler of Egypt.  Through faith, Joseph was established and blessed with two sons.  Joseph nourished his family during the famine in the land of Goshen.  Joseph’s feet were set free from the stocks of prison when he interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams.  Joseph was made great by Pharaoh because he correctly interpreted his dreams of the coming seven years of plenty and warned of the seven years of famine which would follow.  Israel and his family went down into Egypt where they would prosper due to the blessing of the Lord.  Joseph tested his brothers before finding them worthy and giving them the best of the land which he ruled.  Israel lived as freemen in the land of Goshen, being nourished by Joseph while the rest of Egypt was sold into the hands of Pharaoh.  Joseph was the ruler of Egypt but still believed in the promise that God would bring Israel back to the land promised to Abraham.  Joseph was the preserver of life, yet enslaved many to Pharaoh.  At the end of Jacob’s life, he prayed that the Angel who redeemed him from evil would bless the sons of Joseph.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President William Howard Taft: Jacob desired protection during the famine so he sent his sons to Egypt to gather food to preserve their lives.  This led to Israel being reunited with Joseph, the guardian of the riches of Egypt.

Vice President James S. Sherman: Joseph had been wrongfully imprisoned as he was tested by the Word of the Lord but later brought into great blessing becoming the ruler of Egypt.

Speaker of the House Joseph Gurney Cannon: Joseph had been wrongfully imprisoned as he was tested by the Word of the Lord but later brought into great blessing becoming the ruler of Egypt.

President Pro Tempore William P. Frye: Through faith, Joseph was established and blessed with two sons.

Chief Justice Edward Douglass White: Joseph nourished his family during the famine in the land of Goshen.

Speaker of the House Champ Clark: Joseph’s feet were set free from the stocks of prison when he interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams.

President Pro Tempore Augustus O. Bacon: Joseph was made great by Pharaoh because he correctly interpreted his dreams of the coming seven years of plenty and warned of the seven years of famine which would follow.

President Pro Tempore Charles Curtis: Israel and his family went down into Egypt where they would prosper due to the blessing of the Lord.

President Pro Tempore Jacob H. Gallinger: Joseph tested his brothers before finding them worthy and giving them the best of the land which he ruled.

President Pro Tempore Frank B. Brandegee: Israel lived as freemen in the land of Goshen, being nourished by Joseph while the rest of Egypt was sold into the hands of Pharaoh.

President Pro Tempore Henry Cabot Lodge: Joseph was the ruler of Egypt but still believed in the promise that God would bring Israel back to the land promised to Abraham.

Secretary of State Philander C. Knox: Joseph was the preserver of life, yet enslaved many to Pharaoh.  At the end of Jacob’s life, he prayed that the Angel who redeemed him from evil would bless the sons of Joseph.

Taft’s large size, his desire to be a judge and later appointment as well as his post Presidency efforts promoting world peace depict Joseph’s rulership in Egypt. During Taft’s Presidency the Sixteenth Amendment was passed which also points to Joseph’s rule in Egypt and the storing of grain to preserve life.

Woodrow Wilson 1913-1921

Woodrow Wilson‘s name meaning is speaking of Israel going down into Egypt, the dark city, to keep their bellies full and their souls alive.

Wilson’s first name was Thomas. Thomas comes from the Hebrew word תָּאוֹמָא ‘Ta’oma’ meaning a twin but also full. The predominant desire of man during the days of the famine, was to keep their bellies full.

Woodrow means a ‘row of houses by a wood.’  In Hebrew, the word for woods is יער ‘ya’ar’ which is a place of darkness and is a cognate of the Hebrew word for city, עיר ‘eeyr’. Ancient Egypt is the personification of a ‘dark city.’ A place of idolatry and wickedness where God’s people would late be enslaved.

Wilson means son of William.  William comes from the Germanic words ‘wil’ meaning desire and ‘helm’ meaning the head, or helmet/protection. As mentioned in the last chapter, this is pointing to Jacob’s desire of ‘protection’ from the famine (Genesis 42:1-2) and on a deeper level, the hope of salvation of mankind (Genesis 47:13-26; 50:2).

Here we see a continuation of the theme of William Howard Taft’s Presidency which points to Psalm 23 where the Good Shepherd fills our cup to overflowing even in the midst of darkness.  It is interesting to note that Wilson used this imagery in his second Inaugural Address to the nation:

“The shadows that now lie dark upon our path will soon be dispelled, and we shall walk with the light all about us if we be but true to ourselves—to ourselves as we have wished to be known in the counsels of the world and in the thought of all those who love liberty and justice and the right exalted.”

Woodrow Wilson’s Presidency is a picture of Israel going down into Egypt to escape famine in Canaan. This is the time period where Pharaoh became owner of all the land and people. However, Israel dwelt in Goshen, separate from the people of Egypt and not caused to sell their property.

The name meanings of Wilson and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Israel goes down into Egypt, the ‘dark city,’ in order to protect their lives and keep their bellies full. Jacob has doubt about leaving Canaan but is reassured by God of the promise of the covenant. He leaves his home to go into Egypt to meet his son, Joseph the ruler of the land, who stored up grain during the seven years of plenty foreseen in the dream of Pharaoh. Joseph was appointed ruler of the land of Egypt after being brought forth from prison to interpret the aforementioned dream of Pharaoh. He decrees that a fifth of the grain of Egypt be stored up during the years of plenty for preservation of life during the seven years of famine. Joseph, the peaceful ruler, prepared the land of Egypt as a place of provision during Israel’s exile.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Woodrow Wilson 1913-1921

Vice President Thomas R. Marshall 1913-1921

House Speaker Champ Clark 1911-1919

House Speaker Frederick H. Gillet 1919-1925

Wilson’s Presidency was defined by World War I and his ‘New Freedom’ plan. His Presidency saw the institution of the Federal Reserve and ‘Wilsonian’ foreign policy, both of which have been dominating issues of American government since. This corresponds to the days of Joseph and the going down of Israel into Egypt which became the dominant themes in the Biblical narrative describing God’s dealings with the nation.

Warren G. Harding 1921-1923

Warren Harding‘s name is speaking of Israel going down into Egypt to dwell as shepherds in the land of Goshen, the best of the land of Egypt.

Warren comes from a Norman French word ‘warrene’ meaning an animal enclosure. This points to the land of Goshen, where Israel dwelt as shepherds with their sheep (Genesis 45:10; 46:28; 47:27).

Gamaliel means the ‘benefit or reward of God.’ The land of Goshen was the best of the land of Egypt, ‘the reward of God.’

Genesis 46:2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

Genesis 46:3 And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:

Genesis 47:5 And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:

Genesis 47:6 The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.

Genesis 47:27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

Harding comes from the Old English name ‘Heard’ which means brave or hardy.

As mentioned in the chapter on William Howard Taft, the Hebrew word for bravery isאמץ ‘amatz’ which means strength.  This is linked with putting on the helmet of salvation (1 Corinthians 16:13; Ephesians 6:10-18) of which Jacob sought during the days of the famine. This hope in Him is pointing to the time of Jacob blessing his children in Egypt (Genesis 49:18) which corresponds to the time period of which Harding’s Presidency refers to.

The Presidency of Warren G. Harding depicts Israel’s descent into Egypt to dwell in Goshen where Jacob is reunited with his son Joseph who feeds them in the midst of famine. God’s gift of salvation is revealed in the midst of the shadow of death, a table is prepared before their enemies.

The name meanings of Harding and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

During the famine, Israel goes down into Egypt to dwell in Goshen as shepherds, the best of the land of Egypt. This is a reward from God due to Israel’s brave hope in Him. By the Lord’s grace, He brought down His camp into the land of Egypt to escape the barreness of the land of Canaan. Joseph, the peaceful ruler, provides food for Israel as they dwell in the land of Egypt as strangers. Joseph and his family a ‘born again’ through the fires of affliction in the land of Egypt. Jacob’s hope for salvation causes him and his family to leaven Canaan and make their home in Goshen where they are reunited with Joseph, the shepherd who feeds them.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Warren G. Harding 1921-1923

Vice President Calvin Coolidge 1921-1923

House Speaker Frederick H. Gillet 1919-1925

Associate Justice Joseph McKenna 1921

Chief Justice William Howard Taft 1921-1930

Harding’s Presidency was defined by his promise of a return to ‘normalcy’ which points to Israel’s acclimation to life in the land of Egypt. His presidency began the time period of the ‘Roaring Twenties’ displaying Israel’s blessed state while dwelling in Goshen.

Calvin Coolidge 1923-1929

Calvin Coolidge‘s name meaning is speaking of the camp of God, Israel, going down into Egypt during the days of famine where they would dwell amongst, but separate from the nation of Egypt.

His full name was John Calvin Coolidge.

John means the grace or camp of God. By the Lord’s grace, He brought down His camp into the land of Egypt.

Calvin comes from the French name ‘Chauvin’ which derives from ‘chauve’ meaning bald. The Hebrew word for bald, ריק ‘riyq’ also means bare. This is speaking of the famine and the barrenness of the land and is used in particular in reference to the thin cows of Pharaoh’s dream (Genesis 41:19, 20, 27).

Coolidge is from an Old English word ‘coll’ meaning a rocky ridge or escarpment. This is speaking of a division of land. Here we see a picture of Israel finding grace from the Lord in the midst of famine or barrenness, dwelling in Egypt in the land of Goshen which was separated from the Egyptians (Genesis 46:34).

Calvin Coolidge was President during a time of economic prosperity, called the ‘Roaring Twenties.’ This corresponds with the days of Israel in Egypt until the days of the Pharaoh who ‘knew not Joseph.’

The name meanings of Coolidge and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The camp of God finds grace during famine as they dwell in Goshen, a part of Egypt, yet separate. The beloved army of the Lord becomes numerous and fills the land of Egypt. Joseph feeds his brethren as they dwell as strangers in the land. Israel is given victory of famine and death.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Calvin Coolidge 1923-1929

Vice President Charles G. Dawes 1925-1929

House Speaker Frederick H. Gillet 1919-1925

House Speaker Nicholas Longworth 1925-1931

Coolidge was President during the ‘Roaring Twenties,’ a time of great prosperity corresponding with the fruitfulness of Israel while dwelling in Goshen. The way of life had changed for man due to modern technology as it did for Israel who lived amidst the technological advancements of Egypt.

Herbert Hoover 1929-1933

Herbert Hoover‘s name meaning is speaking of the ‘army of the Lord’ dwelling in the land of Egypt during the days of Joseph.

Herbert is a Germanic name which derives from ‘hari’ meaning army and ‘beraht’ meaning bright.

Clark comes from the word ‘cleric’ which means a ‘scribe’ from the Old English word‘clerec’ which originally meant a priest. Here is a depiction of an army of priests who bear the Word. Scripture defines this as Israel.

Exodus 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.

Psalm 68:11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

The Hebrew word for company in Psalm 68:11 is צבא ‘tseba’ which literally means an army.

Hoover comes from the German name Huber meaning a ‘large measure of land.’  Here we see Israel, the ‘bright army’ of ‘scribes’ or carriers of the Word, dwelling in a large measure of land in Egypt.

Herbert Hoover’s Presidency is defined by the Great Depression that struck the United States in 1929, the first year of his Presidency. This Depression links to the going down of Israel into Egypt during the famine and living with Joseph where they would later become slaves (Exodus 1:10-14). The Hebrew word for depression is אנה ‘anah’ which means to be brought low or humbled. This is associated in Scripture with famine and fasting (Psalm 35:13) as well as the affliction of slavery (Exodus 1:11).

Hoover’s name is speaking of the ‘army of priests’ mentioned in Psalm 68:11. Amazingly, the Scripture defines them as ‘poor’ or ‘depressed.’

Psalm 68:10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

Psalm 68:11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

The Hebrew word used here for poor is אני ‘aneey’ which means depressed or brought low and comes from the above mentioned word אנה ‘anah.’

The Presidency of Herbert Hoover is speaking of Israel in Egypt, multiplying to become an army of those who bear the covenant given to Abraham. They survived the worldwide famine by His grace, dwelling as strangers in the iron furnace.

The name meanings of Hoover and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

During the famine, the Lord sends His army of priests into the land of Goshen. Israel is His army, the descendants of the promise to Abraham. Israel is given victory over death, dwelling in Goshen. By His grace, His camp eats grain in Egypt. His army, the olive tree, is purified through the fires of affliction in Egypt, dwelling as strangers.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Herbert Hoover 1929-1933

Vice President Charles Curtis 1929-1933

House Speaker Nicholas Longworth 1925-1931

House Speaker John Nance Garner 1931-1933

Associate Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes 1930

Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes 1930-1941

Hoover’s Presidency was defined by the Great Depression which depicts Israel’s being brought into subjection and slavery to the Pharaoh who knew not Joseph. Hoover’s life also paralleled the life of Joseph. Both became orphans and traveled abroad. Both were ‘humanitarians’ who fed the poor and hungry and were considered as one of the most important people of their times.

Franklin D. Roosevelt 1933-1945

Franklin Roosevelt‘s name meaning is speaking of Israel dwelling in Goshen as ‘freemen.’ It is due to this freedom and prosperity that they received that the Pharaoh ‘who knew not Joseph’ decided to enslave them.

Franklin comes from the Middle English word ‘frankelin’ meaning a ‘freeman.’

Delano is from a French surname ‘De la Noye’ indicating the person was from a place called La Noue.  La Noue is from the Gaelic word meaning a ‘wetland, or swamp.’ This points to Israel’s dwellings in the land of Goshen.

Goshen corresponded to ‘Wady-’t-Tumeylat.’  Wadi Tumilat is a part of the Nile Delta which is one of the world’s largest river deltas.

Roosevelt means a rose field.  In the above aerial photograph, the land of Goshen is seen as a green, lush land to at the North of Egypt.  The Nile delta pictured resembles a flower or a rose.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was one of the most significant figures of the 20th century. His Presidency was defined by the Depression, the New Deal and World War II. Roosevelt’s name meaning is speaking of Israel dwelling in Egypt as ‘freemen’ but the end of his Presidency displays the rising up of the Pharaoh who ‘knew not Joseph’ who enslaved them. It was due to Israel’s fruitfulness in Goshen, dwelling as freemen, that led to the jealousy and fear of Egypt and their resulting enslavement (Psalm 105:24-25). Israel was seen as foreigners who were getting too powerful and needed to be dealt with by the Pharaoh who hated them (Exodus 1:7-14). This is the time that Moses was born amidst persecution of Pharaoh upon the male children of Israel (Exodus 1:15-22; 2:1-10).

The name meanings of Roosevelt and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Israel dwells in Egypt as freemen in the land of Goshen. By the grace of God, the camp of the Lord is fed in Goshen. Israel dwelt by the Mediterranean as strangers amidst the Egyptians. Joseph fed Israel to the full where they lived and multiplied. Joseph bought up the land of Egypt for Pharaoh during the famine but Israel dwelt as freemen. A Pharaoh who ‘knew not Joseph’ rose to power, and due to Israel’s fruitfulness, hated and persecuted them. Pharaoh, the beast from the sea, persecuted Israel and decreed that all the male children be thrown into the Nile River. God hears the cries of Israel due to this persecution in the iron furnace.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Franklin D. Roosevelt 1933-1945

Vice President John Nance Garner 1933-1941

Vice President Henry A. Wallace 1941-1945

Vice President Harry S. Truman 1945

House Speaker Henry Thomas Rainey 1933-1934

House Speaker Joseph W. Byrns 1935-1936

House Speaker William B. Bankhead 1936-1940

House Speaker Sam Rayburn 1940-1947

Chief Justice Harlan F. Stone 1941-1946

Roosevelt’s Presidency was defined by the Depression, the New Deal and World War II. These events in American history correspond with Israel’s descent into Egypt where they were fed by Joseph amidst famine. Israel was fruitful and free which led to the jealousy and fear of Egypt and their being brought into slavery. This was the time that the Lord raised up Moses to go to war with Pharaoh. Roosevelt’s successes and failures correspond with the life of Moses, culminating in World War II which depicted the battle between Pharaoh and Moses.

Harry S. Truman 1945-1953

Harry Truman‘s name meaning is speaking of the conflict between Moses and Pharaoh.

Harry is a diminutive of both Henry and Harold.   Henry means home power or ruler.  Harold comes from the Old English name ‘Hereweald’ meaning leader of the army.  ‘Here’ means army and ‘weald’ means leader or ruler.

S is Truman’s middle name, chosen to please both of his grandfathers, Anderson Shipp Truman and Solomon Young.  Shipp is an occupational name of a boatbuilder or mariner. This is pointing to Moses, who began his days on a ‘ship’ (Exodus 2:3).

Solomon means peaceful in Hebrew. It is interesting to note that Truman began his Presidency in a prayer to God which Solomon prayed (1 Kings 3:9).

A day after the burial of Franklin Roosevelt, Truman addressed the Congress in a Joint Session, ending with these words.

“May we Americans all live up to our glorious heritage.

In that way, America may well lead the world to peace and prosperity.

At this moment, I have in my heart a prayer. As I have assumed my heavy duties, I humbly pray Almighty God, in the words of King Solomon:

“Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad; for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?”

I ask only to be a good and faithful servant of my Lord and my people.”

As mentioned previously, the letter S comes from the Greek letter Σ‘sigma’ which traces back further to the Hebrew letter ס ‘samekh.’  ‘Samekh’ is the picture of a thorn and is related to hate as mentioned above. This points to the Pharaoh who hated Israel (Exodus 1:10; Psalm 105:25).

Truman means a ‘trusty man’ in Middle English.

In Truman’s name we see Moses (Hebrews 3:2, 5), who was raised up during the days of the Pharaoh ‘who knew not Joseph,’ who hated Israel.  Moses was the faithful one in God’s house, whose life began on a boat (Exodus 2:3), destined to bring his people peace from the bondage of Pharaoh (Exodus 18:23; Acts 7:35).

The Presidency of Harry Truman is speaking of the time of Moses being raised up to deliver Israel from the bondage of Pharaoh and victory over the beast. God reveals His Right Hand through the plagues upon His enemies and deliverance of His covenant people. Israel is delivered from slavery and death and brought to Mt. Sinai to receive His law.

The name meanings of Truman and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

God sends the ‘true man’ Moses, His peaceful ruler who was delivered from death as a child in an ark, into Egypt to deliver His people from the affliction of Pharaoh. Israel was put into bondage, building bricks for Pharaoh but God heard their cries and delivers them from the iron furnace. He gathers them together to Moses to be delivered from the persecution of Pharaoh. Israel gathered together and believed Moses yet quickly lost faith when persecution ensued. Ultimately, Israel did come to believe the Lord sent Moses after His signs and miracles were displayed. Israel put all their faith in God after they saw He delivered them from death. Moses was used by God to bring peace and freedom to Israel where He brings them to Mt. Sinai to receive His law.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Harry S. Truman 1945-1953

Vice President Alben W. Barkley 1949-1953

House Speaker Sam Rayburn 1940-1947

House Speaker Joseph William Martin 1947-1949

House Speaker Sam Rayburn 1949-1953

House Speaker Joseph William Martin 1953-1955

Associate Justice Hugo Black 1946

Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson 1946-1953

Truman’s Presidency is defined by the dropping of the Atom bomb and the victory of World War II. These events correspond with the battle between Moses and Pharaoh and the victory the Lord gives Israel through the plagues sent upon Egypt. Truman’s Presidency saw the beginnings of the Cold War and the Civil Rights movement which depict the time period of Israel in the wilderness and the wars they would encounter during the days of Moses and Joshua.

Dwight D. Eisenhower 1953-1961

Dwight Eisenhower‘s name meaning is speaking of the deliverance of Israel from the bondage of Egypt where they are brought to Mt. Sinai and given His Word.

Dwight is an English surname which derives from the Medieval feminine name ‘Diot’ which is a diminutive of Dionysia. Dionysia is the feminine form of Dionysius.  Dionysius is a combination of the Greek word Διος ‘Dios’ meaning ‘Zeus’ and Νυσα ‘Nysa’ which was a ‘legendary mountain.’

Zeus is actually a name which derives from God. Ζευς ‘Zeus‘ comes from Greek word ζην ‘zen’ meaning to live and Δια ‘Dia’ from δυι ‘dui’ meaning through. ‘To live through.’ This is the definition of God (Acts 17:28; John 1:1-9) which was corrupted by the heathen into the name of a false god.

The legendary mountain of God.  This is where Moses was called.

Exodus 3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

David means the beloved one.  Israel was delivered for the sake of the fathers who were beloved in the sight of the Lord (Deuteronomy 9:5; Micah 7:20).

On a deeper level, David comes from the Hebrew word דד ‘dad’ which means a bosom and is linked to the concept of being under the shadow of His wings. The picture is of a parent holding a child in their bosoms and looking into their eyes. Further linking this concept is the English word ‘baby.’ The word baby comes from the Hebrew word בבה ‘babah’ which means the pupil of the eyes or the ‘apple of the eye.’

Scripture associates this intimate relationship of a parent looking into the eyes of their child with the relationship between God and His people being under the shadow of His wings (Psalm 17:8; Deuteronomy 32:10). This points to the deliverance of Israel from Egypt and their travels to Mt. Sinai (Exodus 19:4,17).

Exodus 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.

Deuteronomy 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

Deuteronomy 32:11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

Deuteronomy 32:12 So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

Eisenhower’s nickname was ‘Ike.’  Ike is a diminutive of Isaac which comes from the Hebrew word צחק ‘tsachaq’ which means laughter.  This word is also referring to the redemption of Israel (Psalm 126:1-2).

Eisenhower comes from the German name ‘Eisenhauer’ which means iron cutter or iron worker.  Israel being redeemed from Egypt is associated with iron working (Deuteronomy 4:20; Jeremiah 11:4).

Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Presidency depicts the deliverance of Israel from Egypt and their travels in the wilderness where they are given the Word of God. The Lord gives Israel victory over Egypt, delivers them into the wilderness where they are given the Law and sustained by manna and water from the rock.

The name meanings of Eisenhower and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

As promised, God brings Moses back to Mt. Horeb where He gives His beloved people His law, delivering them from the iron furnace of Egypt. Israel is given victory and brought into the wilderness where they are fed with manna from heaven. The Lord heard their cry while in bondage to Pharaoh and delivered them. He delivered them from the iron furnace with an His outstretched arm. It is through these afflictions in Egypt that Israel comes to true faith in the Most High. The Lord destroyed Egypt and gathered together Israel as a flock in the wilderness, led by the hand of Moses whose face shone after receiving the law. Israel quickly rebelled against Him at Meribah where the Lord gave them water to drink from a rock.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Dwight D. Eisenhower 1953-1961

Vice President Richard Nixon 1953-1961

House Speaker Joseph William Martin 1953-1955

House Speaker Sam Rayburn 1955-1961

Associate Justice Hugo Black 1953

Chief Justice Earl Warren 1953-1969

White House Chief of Staff Sherman Adams 1953-1958

White House Chief of Staff Wilton Persons 1958-1961

Eisenhower’s life has numerous connections to the life of Moses. He was seen as a ‘father figure,’ and another George Washington corresponding with Moses who was the representative of God to Israel. Both were seen as faithful and trustworthy. Both were ‘skilled writers’ but not good orators. Both dedicated their people to God. Eisenhower’s Presidency saw an end to the Korean war and the beginning of the Vietnam conflict, both depicting battles between Israel and the Canaanite nations. An Interstate Highway system was set up corresponding with Israel’s travels through the wilderness.

John F. Kennedy 1961-1963

John F. Kennedy‘s name meaning is speaking of the deliverance of Israel from Egypt by the Right Hand of the Most High where He uses Moses as His representative.

John means the camp of God which is referring to Israel.

Fitzgerald is from the French-Norman name ‘fils de Gérald’ meaning the son of Gerald.  Gerald comes from ‘ger’ meaning spear and ‘wald’ meaning ruler.  Recall that in Hebrew, the rod of the shepherd is also his ‘spear.’  Moses was sent with the Rod of God (Exodus 4:20) to deliver Israel from Pharaoh. The spear is also pointing to the righteousness of Phinehas and the victory of Israel in the wilderness over Midian, Sihon and Og.

Kennedy is the Anglicized form of ‘Ó Cinnéidigh’ meaning descendant of Cennetig.  Cennetig means ‘armored head.’  An armored head is pointing back to the concept mentioned previously in this book of the ‘helmet of salvation.’ The helmet of salvation is Messiah (Isaiah 59:16-17), His Right Hand which delivered Israel from Egypt (Exodus 15:1-6; Psalm 98:1-3; 110:1; 118:14-16; Isaiah 52:10; 53:1; Matthew 26:64; Acts 5:31).

Here we see in JFK’s Presidency the ancient conflict between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent (Genesis 3:15). The Seed of the woman is promised to crush the head of the serpent. This is ultimately fulfilled in the crucifixion of the Messiah but seen in shadow picture form in the deliverance of Israel from Egypt where the head of Leviathan is crushed (Psalm 74:14).

The Arm of the Lord is the Angel of His Presence who redeemed Israel from Egypt (Isaiah 63:5, 8-9). This is the Angel that appeared to Moses in the burning bush (Acts 7:35) and spoke to Him at Mt. Sinai (Acts 7:37-38; Deuteronomy 33:32)

The Presidency of John F. Kennedy continues the picture of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, and being guided through the wilderness by the Angel of the Lord. His Presidency transitions to the second generation of Israel who would be led into Canaan and inherit the promises their fathers were given by the God.

The name meanings of Kennedy and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The camp of God is delivered from Egypt by the Rod of God and is given victory over their enemies in the wilderness. They put on the helmet of salvation, which is the Right Hand of the Most High, the Angel who redeemed them from all evil and gave them the law at Mt. Sinai. The vine of Israel, the righteous bride of the Lord is planted in the land. The camp of God, delivered from the iron furnace of Egypt after God hears their cries. They are delivered from slavery to inherit the promised land. The camp of God is victorious over their enemies because they put their trust in His salvation.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President John F. Kennedy 1961-1963

Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson 1961-1963

House Speaker Sam Rayburn 1955-1961

House Speaker John William McCormack 1962-1971

White House Chief of Staff Kenneth O’Donnell 1961-1965

Kennedy’s Presidency represented the youth of America, the ‘new generation,’ corresponding with the second generation of Israel in the wilderness. His Presidency was defined by the Civil Rights Movement which displays the Word of God given through Moses and his assassination which depicted Israel’s deliverance from rebellion by the serpent on a pole, a foreshadowing of the crucifixion of Messiah. His Presidency also saw an escalation in the Cold War which points to the wars which Israel began to engage in with the Canaanites.

Lyndon B. Johnson 1963-1969

Lyndon Johnson‘s name is pointing to Israel going into the land of Israel and conquering the nations thereof. As Vice President, his name was speaking specifically of the first lands that Israel obtained from Sihon king of the Amorites and Og king of Bashan (Numbers 21:21-35). As President, his name is referring to the days of Moses delivering what would become the book of Deuteronomy to the people.

Lyndon comes from an surname which means ‘lime tree hill’ in Old English. The linden or lime tree is a picture of the vine of Israel (Isaiah 6:13), the Holy Seed from whence comes victory over the devil.

Isaiah 6:13 But yet a tenth shall be in it, and it shall return and be consumed like the terebinth and like the oak that in being felled yet has its stump (the holy seed is its stump).

The ‘terebinth’ seen here in Isaiah 6:13 is a teil tree which is a linden or lime tree. The word in Hebrew is הלא ‘elah’ which comes from the root לא ‘el’ which is commonly translated as God. Here is a beautiful picture of the Holy Seed, the BRANCH being God Himself (Jeremiah 23:5-6).

The association with the linden tree and Israel was seen in Abraham Lincoln’s name as well. If the reader recalls, Abraham Lincoln’s Presidency is a parable of the days of the Patriarch Abraham.

Lincoln traces back to a Brythonic word ‘lindo’ meaning a lake or pool which has the same meaning as the English word ‘linden’ speaking of a tree by rivers of water.

The tree by the rivers of water is a picture of the tree of life (Psalm 1:2-3; Revelation 22:2-3). The tree of life is pointing to the Messiah, the Seed of the woman who was promised to come through the lineage of Abraham (Galatians 3:16). The linden tree seen in Isaiah 6:13 is speaking of the remnant of Israel, the olive tree who are in the image and likeness of Messiah (Galatians 3:16-28).

Here we see Israel entering into Canaan as a foreshadowing of the ultimate victory promised in the beginning where the Seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15). This promise was passed down through the millenia and inherited by Abraham and his descendants.

Baines has three possible origins. The first is from the Gaelic ‘ban’ meaning fair or white. The second is from the Old English ‘ban’ meaning a bone. The third is from the Old French ‘bain’ meaning a bath. These meanings are speaking of Israel, the bride of the Lord, ‘bone of His bone’ (Genesis 2:23; Isaiah 54:5) who is ‘fair or white’ meaning righteous (Numbers 23:21) and ‘cleansed’ by the baptism of faith through the Red Sea (1 Corinthians 10:1-2) and circumcision of the heart (Deuteronomy 10:16).

Johnson means son of John, meaning the children the camp of God. Here we see a reference to the second generation of Israel in the wilderness who would be given victory over the nations of Canaan (Numbers 14:23-24; 26:63-65).

The Presidency of Lyndon Johnson was defined by his desire to create a ‘Great Society’ and the Vietnam War. The Great Society was based upon the idea of distributing the wealth of the nation to the poor and needy, education and equal rights. LBJ passed more legislation than any other President as a result of this Great Society concept. However, the Great Society that he desired to see come to pass never came to fruition due to America’s involvement in the Vietnam War.

Here in Johnson’s Presidency a parable of the children of Israel is seen. They are promised the land of Canaan, a ‘Great Society’ of prosperity where laws are given to take care of the poor and needy (Deuteronomy 14:29; 15:4-8; 16:11-14; 24:19-21; Leviticus 19:9-10, 32-34; 23:22). It was to be a land of wisdom based upon education in the law of God (Deuteronomy 4;6; 6:7; 11:19; 31:12-13). A land of equal rights (Exodus 12:49; Numbers 15:15-16, 29; Leviticus 19:33-34; 24:22). However, due to rebellion and mixing amongst the people of the land, they never fully experienced the blessings of the land and end up being cast out into exile (Deuteronomy 4:26; 8:19-20; 28:58-68; 29:25-28).

Lyndon B. Johnson’s Presidency is a picture of the camp of the Lord, the vine of God planted in the land of Canaan. Israel received His law and called to circumcise their hearts that they might be given victory over their enemies and dwell in the land promised to their fathers. They are called to be a noble vine, set up as God’s kings and priests in the Promised Land. Johnson’s Presidency depicts the book of Deuteronomy in particular.

The name meanings of Johnson and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The vine of Israel is delivered from Egypt, travels through the wilderness to be planted in the promised land. The camp of God, His bride, ‘bone of His bones’ is cleansed and made righteous by baptism of faith and circumcision of the heart. Israel is brought out of Egypt at the set time to receive His law, His wisdom. They are used to judge the nations of Canaan through war, thereby bringing peace to the land. The camp of God is given victory over the Canaanite nations by putting their faith in God. He sends His Angel to lead the army of Israel to victory. This noble vine, delivered from slavery in Egypt, is set up as God’s rod of iron ruling over the land. The Ruler of His army leads the camp of Israel into the promised land, a land of abundance, giving them victory in war and glorifying His name.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Lyndon B. Johnson 1963-1969

Vice President Hubert Humphrey 1965-1969

House Speaker John William McCormack 1962-1971

White House Chief of Staff Kenneth O’Donnell 1961-1965

White House Chief of Staff W. Marvin Watson 1965-1968

White House Chief of Staff Jim Jones 1968

The Presidency of Johnson is defined by his desire to create a ‘Great Society’ and the Vietnam War. The Great Society depicts a paradisiacal state where prosperity is seen and the poor and needy are cared for. A land of wisdom based upon education and equal rights amongst all the inhabitants. This ‘Great Society’ concept is what Israel would have enjoyed but due to rebellion and mixing amongst the people of the land, they never fully experience the blessings of the land and end up being cast out into exile. The Vietnam War was LBJ’s downfall which depicts the aforementioned rebellion and mixing amongst the Canaanite nations that Israel fell into.

Richard Nixon 1969-1974
Richard Nixon 1969-1974

Richard Nixon‘s name meaning is pointing to Joshua who led Israel into victory over the Canaanite nations, albeit not in totality as commanded by the Lord.

Richard means brave power from the Germanic words ‘ric’ meaning ruler or power and ‘hard’ meaning brave. This is pointing to Joshua, called to lead Israel in warfare against Canaan.

Joshua 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Joshua 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Milhous means miller’s house.  A miller is one who operates a machine to grind grain in order to produce flour for bread. As Vice President, this part of Nixon’s name was pointing to the manna Israel was fed by in the wilderness (Exodus 16:11-36). As President, this name is speaking of the victory of Israel over the nations of Canaan, as they became their ‘bread.’

Numbers 14:8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

Numbers 14:9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

Nixon means son of Nicholas. Nicholas is from the Greek name Νικολαος ‘Nikolaos’ which means ‘victory of the people.’ Νικολαος comes from the Greek work νικη ‘nike’ meaning victory and λαος ‘laos’ meaning people. Here we see the victory of the people of Israel, called to be priests/rulers of the nations (Exodus 19:6), whose victory is intimately linked to bread (Deuteronomy 8:7-9). Bread is associated with warfare. The Hebrew word for war is מלחמה ‘milchama’ which comes from the root לחם ‘lechem’ which means bread. This is seen as the making of bread pictures ‘warfare’ where flour and water are mixed together and kneaded, depicting in a sense ‘fighting.’ Warfare began in the Garden when Adam was punished for the sin of eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. His punishment is associated with bread as Adam must now work the ground and by the sweat of his face eat bread (Genesis 3:19).

The warfare between the Seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent is declared at this time (Genesis 3:15). Israel defeating the Canaanite nations is a foreshadowing of the Seed of the woman defeating the serpent. This war is ultimately won by THE Seed of the woman, the Messiah, the True Bread from heaven (Hebrews 2:14; Job 14:14; Isaiah 40:2; Revelation 2:17; John 6:48-51).

The Presidency of Richard Nixon is pointing to the days of Joshua and Israel conquering the land of Canaan, yet not in totality as commanded by the Lord. Due to Israel not fulfilling the decree of God, the inhabitants of the land would be thorns in their sides (Numbers 33:55; Joshua 23:13; Judges 2:3) leading to the period of Judges where the rulership of the land would pass back and forth between Israel and various nations of the area. Nixon’s Presidency ended in resignation due to the Watergate scandal, pointing to the time period of Samuel and the Kingship of Saul.

Richard Nixon’s presidency is a picture of Israel victorious over their enemies in Canaan. Israel ruled with a rod of iron but due to wolves in sheep’s clothing infiltrating their ranks they lost their power. They became the tail and not the head and backslid into the idolatrous customs of Egypt, mixing in with the wicked ways of the people of Canaan.

The name meanings of Nixon and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Joshua, the brave ruler of Israel, leads the people into war against the Canaanite nations. Israel is given victory over these nations, they are made their ‘bread.’ Israel is given victory by the Spirit of the Most High, called to remember this victory by the offering of first fruits. The promised land is given as a gift to Israel by God where the Canaanite nations are caused to submit to Israel. Israel rules over Canaan with a rod of iron but due to synchretism between Israel and the Canaanites, ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ enter into the midst of the nation leading them into the ways of the Mystery religions. This corruption upon every high hill causes Israel to backslide into lawlessness. As a result, Israel is brought into a series of subjugations to the nations around them, leading into their request for a king to be set over them. Israel conquered the nations of Canaan by putting on the ‘helmet of salvation’ where the Angel of the Army of the Lord led them in victory. However, this same Angel rebuked them for their disobedience in not completely destroying these names. Yet, even in their rebellion, the Lord sends ‘noble warriors’ to deliver Israel from their enemies as they are the sheep of His pasture and He is the Good Shepherd who watches over them. Israel is given the rule and power over the ancient land of promise, led by Joshua and the Angel of the Lord who are given fame as a result. Their Defender gives them the ‘pearl of great price,’ where the ‘curse is reversed’ as they rule over the nations.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Richard Nixon 1969-1974

Vice President Spiro Agnew 1969-1973

Vice President Gerald Ford 1973-1974

House Speaker John William McCormack 1962-1971

House Speaker Carl Albert 1971-1977

Chief Justice Warren E. Burger 1969-1986

White House Chief of Staff H.R. Haldeman 1969-1973

White House Chief of Staff Alexander Haig 1973-1974

Nixon saw great success in his first term as President, pointing to the days of Joshua and Israel conquering the land of Canaan. His second term saw the Watergate scandal which led to his resignation corresponding to Israel’s failure to conquer Canaan leading to the period of Judges where Israel fell under foreign dominion.

Gerald Ford 1974-1977

Gerald Ford‘s name meaning is speaking of the victory of Israel over Canaan yet not completely destroying them as commanded. This led to corruption in the land and the days of the Judges where Israel would be in constant conflict with the nations around them. The period of the Judges culminated during the days of Samuel and ended with Israel setting up a king.

Gerald is from the Germanic name meaning ‘rule of the spear,’ from ‘ger’ meaning spear and ‘wald’ meaning rule. The word for rod/spear in Hebrew is טבש ‘shevet’ which is also the word for a tribe. Here we see the tribes of Israel, called to rule over the nations with a ‘rod of iron’ (Psalm 2:9; Revelation 2:27; 12:5; 19:15). This would begin in the days of Saul and be fulfilled, at least in part, during the days of David and Solomon.

Rudolph is from a Germanic name ‘Hrodulf’ which is a combination of ‘hrod’ meaning fame and ‘wulf’ meaning a wolf. This is speaking of the corruption of Israel and their leaders (Ezekiel 22:24-27) which was displayed in the sons of Eli and led to the leadership of Samuel and Saul. Saul would also go astray as well which resulted in the anointing of David (1 Samuel 15:26; 16:13).

Ford has the meaning of a shallow place in a river or stream where one may cross. This points to the crossing over Israel into the ways of the nations where a king rules over them (1 Samuel 8:19-20).

Gerald Ford was born Leslie Lynch King Jr.

Leslie comes from the Gaelic ‘leas celyn’ meaning a garden of holly. Holly is a symbol of sun god worship, associated with the ivy of Bacchus/Saturn of which Israel went ‘a whoring’ after (Amos 5:26; Acts 7:43). This led to the Ark of the Covenant going into captivity and the Glory of the Lord departing from the land (1 Samuel 4:1-22).

Lynch is an Anglicized form of the Gaelic ‘Ó Loingsigh’ meaning a descendant of Loingseach. Loingseach means a ‘long ship’ referring to a mariner. In English, it is a topographic name for someone who lived on a slope or hillside from the Old English ‘hlinc.’ This points to the wolves in sheep’s clothing which led Israel astray, causing them to go from ‘mountain to hill’ (Jeremiah 50:6) worshipping false gods upon every high hill (Ezekiel 34:6). It is this rebellion that led Israel to desire a king. Leadership is likened to the steering of a vessel upon water. A leader is one who ‘governs.’ The word govern comes from the Greek word ‘kybernan’ which means to steer or pilot a boat.

1 Samuel 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

1 Samuel 8:8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.

To lynch is to hang someone as a punishment for breaking the law. Here we see a picture of backslidden Israel (Jeremiah 7:23-24; Hosea 4:16), traversing on the waters of Babylon (Revelation 17:1).

King comes from the Old English ‘cyning’ meaning a king. The desire of Israel to have a king over them was the fruit of their rebellion (1 Samuel 8:5-8; 10:19).

Gerald Ford became President as a result of the resignation of Richard Nixon. His Presidency is a picture of the days of Samuel and Saul. The corruption of the Nixon Presidency is personified by the wickedness of the sons of Eli which occurred during the days that the Lord raised up Samuel to be a Judge of Israel.

Gerald Ford’s presidency is speaking of the transition from the days of the judges to the days of the kings. Israel rejected the Lord as their king and desired to be like the nations around them. Samuel appoints Saul as their king in which Israel was at war with the Philistines all his days. It was during these days that David rose up and defeated Goliath, later to become King.

The name meanings of Ford and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Israel is called to rule over the Promised land with a ‘rod of iron.’ A king was set up due to the rebelliousness of the people, manifest in the the wicked sons of the High Priest Eli. Israel desired to ‘cross over’ to the ways of the nations, and establish a king. Due to their wickedness in mixing the ways of the heathen, the Ark of the Covenant was taken into captivity. Israel ‘traversed upon the waters of Babylon’ and requested Samuel set up a man as their king, rejecting the Lord as their king. Saul is appointed as the strong leader of the people, in the land where the name of God is placed. Samuel warned the people that a king would lead to their mourning yet they did not turn back from their desire and appointed a man as their king, rejecting the kingship of the Lord. The Philistine champion Goliath of the lineage of the Nephilim, the mighty men of old, challenges Israel at this time. He stood in the valley between the army of the Philistines and Israel wearing a garment of a giant warrior. David, the ‘bright warrior,’ stands up against this Philistine and slays him, gaining the support of all the nation. There was ‘duel’ leadership in Israel during these days between King Saul and the anointed future King David. A time of warfare against the Philistines, of whom were the giants.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Gerald Ford 1974-1977

Vice President Nelson Rockefeller 1974-1977

House Speaker Carl Albert 1971-1977

House Speaker Tip O’Neill 1977-1987

White House Chief of Staff Donald Rumsfeld 1974-1975

White House Chief of Staff Dick Cheney 1975-1977

Ford’s Presidency is a picture of the days of Samuel and King Saul. Ford became Vice President and then President as a result of the resignations of Spiro Agnew and Richard Nixon, corresponding with the rise to power of King Saul as a result of the wickedness of the sons of Eli the High Priest. Ford was President during the Bicentennial, a remembrance of the Declaration of Independence where Jesus was proclaimed as the King of America. In the Biblical narrative, David is anointed as King during this time, whose life depicts in shadow picture form, Jesus the Messiah.

Jimmy Carter 1977-1981

Jimmy Carter‘s name meaning is speaking of King David, in particular the wars and conflicts of which David experienced throughout his life.

James is the English form of the Latin name ‘Iacomus’ from the Greek Ιακωβος ‘Iakobos’ which comes from the Hebrew name יעקב ‘yaakov’ or Jacob. As seen throughout this book, the name James/Jacob is associated with conflict and war. This defines the time period of King David, the ‘man of war’ (1 Chronicles 28:3).

Earl comes from the Old English ‘eorl’ meaning a nobleman or warrior.

Carter is from an English surname meaning one who uses a cart.  A cart is a vehicle designed for transport. Here we see a warrior or nobleman of Jacob associated with a cart.  The only time the word ‘cart’ is used in Scripture is in reference to the cart used to transport the ark of the covenant back from the Philistines during the days of David, the noble warrior king of Israel (1Samuel 6:7-14; 2 Samuel 6:3; 1 Chronicles 13:7).

Jimmy Carter’s Presidency is a picture of the days of King David, in particular the struggles which he experienced throughout his life. David was a man after the Lord’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14) but experienced conflict throughout his days. So too, Jimmy Carter is a devout Christian whose actions reflect his profession as a follower of Christ, yet it seemed no matter what he did as President, success was not attained during his residency in the Oval office. However, many of the policies that he implemented were continued by succeeding Presidents with success.

As a shepherd David fought wild beasts (1 Samuel 17:34) and giants (1 Samuel 17:40-51). He escaped the attempts on his life by the hands of King Saul (1 Samuel 18:8-15; 19:1, 19-10; 23:7-28; 24:1-22; 26:1-25). He was anointed king by the House of Judah while the rest of the nation rejected him (2 Samuel 2:1-9) but later gained their support (2 Samuel 3:36). His days as king were filled with war (1 Chronicles 28:3; 2 Samuel 5:17-25; 7:1-15; 10:1-19; 11:1). He had to overcome a coup d’état by his son (2 Samuel 15-18) followed by a rebellion by Sheba (2 Samuel 20:1-22), famine (2 Samuel 21:1) and pestilence (2 Samuel 24:15-25). However, in all these things David was successful through the help of the Lord (2 Samuel 22:1-3).

Jimmy Carter’s Presidency is speaking of the days of David in particular the struggles and conflicts which he experienced throughout his life. David was raised from obscurity as a shepherd, to fame by defeating Goliath only to live in the wilderness as a fugitive. He would overcome all his trials by faith in God, to be set up as King over all Israel.

The name meanings of Carter and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The ‘man of war’ David defeats the enemies of Israel and brings the Ark of the Covenant out of captivity. The Captain of Israel who spent his days in warfare would now be given rest from his enemies round about. He began his leadership in Israel as a young shepherd through a conflict with Goliath in a valley. As a king, he was given victory over the nation of the Philistines at the valley of Rephaim. The warfare that existed between the Rephaim and Israel that lasted throughout the years of Saul and David was now over. David was the warrior poet who became king and ruled at Mt. Zion.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Jimmy Carter 1977-1981

Vice President Walter Mondale 1977-1981

House Speaker Tip O’Neill 1977-1987

White House Chief of Staff Hamilton Jordan 1979-1980

Carter’s Presidency depicts the life of King David, in particular the struggles which he experienced throughout his life. Carter experienced numerous challenges and failures as President, but never wavered from his walk as a devout believer in Christ. David endured continual trials throughout his life but never wavered from his walk with God, leading him to be described as a man after the Lord’s own heart. Carter’s greatest achievement was the Camp David Accords, which depicted David’s greatest desire of building the Lord a House.

Ronald Reagan 1981-1989

Ronald Reagan‘s name meaning is speaking of King David, the one who was given the shield of salvation in order to defeat the Canaanite nations. The one to whom was promised an heir, who would be the Savior of the world.

Ronald is the Scottish form of ‘Ragnvaldr’ which is an Old Norse name composed of the words ‘regin’ which means advice and counsel and ‘valdr’ which means ruler. This points to David who, as did Reagan, reigned by delegation (2 Samuel 8:15-18; 20:23-26).

Wilson is from an English surname meaning ‘son of William.’  William is from the Germanic name ‘Willahelm,’ which consists of the words ‘wil’ which means will or desire and ‘helm’ meaning helmet or protection.’ As seen previously, this name points to the helmet of salvation who is Messiah (1 Thessalonians 5:8; Genesis 48:16; 49:18; Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18). This shield of salvation which was given to David.

2 Samuel 22:36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Reagan comes from an Irish surname ‘Ó Ríagáin’ which means a descendant of ‘Riagan.’  Riagan is  derived from the word ‘ríodhgach’ which means the ‘kings heir.’ This of course is pointing to King David and the most important part of his life, the promise of an heir who would be Messiah (Psalm 72:1-17; 45:1-17; Jeremiah 23:5-6; 33:15; Isaiah 9:7; 11:1-5; 40:10-11; Zechariah 9:9; Daniel 9:24; Luke 1:32; Acts 2:30; Hebrews 1:8-9).

Ronald Reagan’s Presidency is a picture of King David, in particular the days of David as the conquering King of the Promised land. Reagan is credited with bringing about the end of the Cold War which pictured the wars between Israel and the Canaanite nations which were finally subdued during David’s days (2 Samuel 7:1). Reagan’s Presidency also pictures the transition from David to Solomon as the King of Israel as George H.W. Bush was elected to succeed Reagan as President, due in large part to Reagan’s popularity. Many of the Cold War victories were completed during Bush’s presidency, just as the Kingdom of Israel fully realized the fruit of David’s labors during the reign of Solomon.

Reagan’s Presidency became known as the Reagan Revolution, a time in which America regained a sense of Patriotism and more importantly rededicated itself to the principles upon which the Founders established this nation. The foundational principle established by the Founders was the belief in freedom which comes from God and the setting up of a government which is based upon God’s gift to mankind of self-government. It was a time in which America, through the words of Ronald Reagan, openly declared that this nation is of God and our duty is to serve and praise Him. After David was given victory over the Canaanite nations, he spoke in similar terms.

Psalm 18:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

Psalm 18:49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

Ronald Reagan’s Presidency is a depiction of the days of King David, in particular his rise from shepherd to conquering King. David was given victory over his enemies by the Lord and ruled over the Promised Land. He was also given the promise that his heir would be King for eternity.

The name meanings of Reagan and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

God sets up David as the ruler of Israel and gives him the shield of salvation. God promises an heir to David who will rule all nations with a rod of iron. The Lord planted Israel in the Promised Land with David as the Light who would lead His army. David walked in the ways of the Lord, so he was given peace and security. David’s faith in God and his trust in His perfect way gave him the victory. He was a man of war but more importantly, of faith, as victory over Canaan was given not through the power of military might, but through faith in the Lord. In his days, the Philistines and the giants who dwelt therein were subdued. David, the man of war, was also a man of compassion as he showed mercy to Jonathan’s son, Mephiboshet. During the days of peace, David was given the designs to build the Temple which he would pass on to his son, Solomon. David put on the helmet of salvation and was also given the promise of the Melichizedek priesthood, the promise of the famous one, the Messiah. David is given dominion over the Promised land, a foreshadowing of the reign of his heir, the Messiah who is called to rule over all the earth. Solomon would partially fulfill the Lords promise to David of the king who would rule over the earth, but sadly, in his rebellion the kingdom was taken from him. David was the ‘son of Adam’ whose life foreshadowed the Messiah. He was given victory by the heat of the Lords anger, a picture of the second coming of Christ. David was the shepherd turned brave warrior who ruled over the promised land. He went through many trials and made mistakes but the Lord delivered him out of all his troubles.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Ronald Reagan 1981-1989

Vice President George H.W. Bush 1981-1989

House Speaker Tip O’Neill 1977-1987

House Speaker Jim Wright 1987-1989

Chief Justice William Rehnquist 1986-2005

White House Chief of Staff James Baker 1981-1985

White House Chief of Staff Donald Regan 1985-1987

White House Chief of Staff Howard Baker 1987-1988

White House Chief of Staff Kenneth Duberstein 1988-1989

Reagan’s Presidency was defined by the Cold War and the victory which he is credited with. This victory in Cold War depicts King David’s subduing of his enemies and the powerful kingdom in which he ruled. Reagan’s Presidency was called the Reagan Revolution in which America regained a sense of Patriotism and more importantly rededicated itself to the principles upon which the Founders established this nation. This corresponds to the reign of King David when Israel was rededicated to God.

George H.W. Bush 1989-1993

George H.W. Bush‘s name meaning is speaking of the Vine of Israel which was planted in the Promised land but became corrupted. The army of the Lord was built up beyond what was commanded. At the beginning, they walked in the ways of David, the beloved of the Lord, but later fell astray. Due to their corruption they were cast into exile. Israel dwelt in peace and security but in their rebellion brought shame to their God. Consequently, He brought shame upon them by exiling them into the nations.

George comes from the Greek word γεωργος ‘georgos’ which means a farmer or earth worker. This points to the Vine of Israel being firmly planted in the Promised Land during the days of David and Solomon (Psalm 80:8, 15-19; 1 Kings 4:25; Isaiah 5:2). Yet, in Solomon’s days, this Vine was corrupted (Deuteronomy 32:32; Jeremiah 2:21; Ezekiel 15:6; Hosea 10:11) and as a result, laid waste (Joel 1:7, 12).

Herbert comes from the Germanic words ‘hari’ meaning army and ‘beraht’ meaning bright. This is pointing to David, the ‘Light of Israel’ (2 Samuel 21:17) who led the Lord’s army. Solomon inherited this light (1 Kings 11:36) and army, however Solomon built up this army beyond the bounds of that which was commanded by the Lord (Deuteronomy 17:16; 1 Kings 4:26).

Walker is an English surname which referred to the medieval occupation of a walker, also known as a fuller. Walkers would tread on wet, unprocessed wool in order to clean and thicken it. The word ultimately derives from the Old English word ‘wealcan’ which means to walk. This is speaking of the walk of David, who lived according to the Word of God. Solomon was commanded to continue in this walk which he did for most of his life but in the end went astray (1 Kings 3:3, 14; 9:4-9; 2 Chronicles 7:17-22).

In the Scriptures, the concept of the fuller is associated with the exile of Israel due to their rebellion. This is seen in the Assyrian army who advanced on Jerusalem from the North (Isaiah 10:28-32), the only accessible side for an army.  This was the place of the ‘fuller’s field’ (Isaiah 7:3; 36:2). Here we see in George H.W. Bush’s name, the story of Israel during the days of the Kings.  The ‘bright army’ of Israel, whose occupation was farmers (Joel 3:10) who rebelled against the Most High and His Word, ultimately leading to their exile from the land (Deuteronomy 29:28).

Bush is an from an Old English word ‘busc’ which means a bush. A bush is used to mark one’s land as well as hide one’s home for privacy. This is pointing to the days of David and Solomon in which Israel lived in peace and security (2 Samuel 7:1; 1 Kings 4:24; 5:4). However, the origin of the English word ‘bush’ traces back further to the Hebrew word בוש ‘bush’ which means shame. It was during this period in Israel’s history that shame was brought upon them due to their rebellion, leading to their exile in Assyria and later into Babylon (Hosea 10:6; 1 Kings 9:4-9; 2 Chronicles 7:17-22).

George H.W. Bush’s Presidency is a picture of the reign of King Solomon and the division of the House of Israel as a result of his fall. His reign began in righteousness where he walked in the ways of his father David (1 Kings 3:3, 14; 9:4; 15:5; 2 Chronicles 7:17). He reigned during a time of peace from the river to the sea with no ‘evil occurrence’ (1 Kings 4:24; 5:4) Yet, in his old age he allowed foreign wives to lead him astray where he was led into the worship rituals of the Mystery Religions (1 Kings 11:1-8).

The name meanings of Bush and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The Vine of Israel is firmly established in the Promised Land, yet due to idolatry was corrupted. The Light of Israel was not taken away from the nation, but as a punishment the nation was divided into two kingdoms. Solomon walked in the ways of his father David for most of his life but at the end went astray which led to the dividing of the nation and eventually exile into foreign lands. Israel lived in peace and security throughout Solomon’s years but due to his idolatry shame was brought upon the nation. The struggle between good and evil was displayed in Solomon’s life which led to is judgment and a choice which Israel had to make between his son Rehoboam and Jeroboam. Solomon was exalted but ‘waxed fat’ and was brought low. The choice between good and evil would continue throughout the years of the kings where most of the nation would choose evil. However, a remnant would remain. Solomon built the House of the Lord, but his idolatry led Israel to build false idols as well. Israel was prosperous during his days but grew fat and went astray. As a result, foreign invaders entered the land throughout the days of the kings unto the exiles of both houses into those nations. The camp of Israel was led astray by the secret worship of their kings. At the Temple both prayers and abominable sacrifices occurred. This mixture of good and evil began at the place in which the Messiah would be crucified to forgive Israel of their wickedness and appease the wrath of the Most High.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President George H.W. Bush 1989-1993

Vice President Dan Quayle 1989-1993

House Speaker Jim Wright 1987-1989

House Speaker Tom Foley 1991-1995

White House Chief of Staff John H. Sununu 1989-1991

White House Chief of Staff Samuel K. Skinner 1991-1992

White House Chief of Staff James Baker 1992-1993

Bush’s Presidency was defined by great successes which were followed by stunning defeat. Bush saw the ending of the Cold War and a swift victory in Iraq which led to him become the most popular President in history. However, due to economic problems, he would be defeated in his re-election bid. His successes and failures display the reign of Solomon who was the king who led Israel to their most powerful and prosperous days. However, due to his being led astray by foreign wives, Solomon fell into idolatry and the powerful kingdom of Israel was divided.

Bill Clinton 1993-2001

Bill Clinton‘s name meaning is speaking of the message of the prophets of repentance unto salvation, otherwise the wrath of God unto exile would occur. The prophets admonished the people to ‘break up their fallow ground’ so that the Word of God could enter their hearts and lead unto life and happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Bill is a diminutive of William from the Germanic name ‘Willahelm,’ which is composed of the words ‘wil’ meaning will or desire and ‘helm’ meaning helmet or protection. This name points to the helmet of salvation who is Messiah (Isaiah 59:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:8; Ephesians 5:23; 6:17; Colossians 1:18).

As mentioned previously in this book, this name depicts the desire of man to put on the ‘helmet of salvation.’ This ‘helmet of salvation’ is Jesus Christ (Isaiah 59:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:8; Ephesians 5:23; 6:17; Colossians 1:18). It is through the message of the prophets, whose life Clinton depicts, that mankind is prepared for the Messiah (1 Peter 1:11). This ‘helmet’ is the hope of which leads man to salvation (1 Thessalonians 5:8; 1 Timothy 1:1). The phrase ‘helmet of salvation’ comes from Isaiah 59:17. This chapter depicts the story of Israel, in particular the days of the kings and prophets. Man’s iniquities had separated him from God (Isaiah 59:1-17), preventing them from knowing the way of peace (Isaiah 59:8). There was no man who could save them so the Lord saved them by Himself, redeeming them from transgression through His covenant (Isaiah 59:16-21). This will be discussed in more detail throughout this chapter.

Jefferson is from the Medieval name Geoffrey which is from a French form of a Germanic name.  The first part is from either ‘gawia’ meaning territory, ‘walah’ meaning stranger or ‘gisil’ meaning hostage and the second part is from ‘frid’ meaning peace.

Here we see Israel, who desired peace but would not walk in His ways in order to attain it (Isaiah 48:18-22; Deuteronomy 32:1-43; Psalm 81:10-15; Luke 19:41-42).  Hence, a stranger entered into their territory and took them hostage. This points to the time period of the kings and prophets. The prophets were sent by the Most High to warn Israel and lead them into the way of peace but the people rebelled and were sent into exile (Isaiah 59:8).

Bill Clinton’s original last name was Blythe which comes from an Old English surname meaning cheerful.  Here we see the message of the prophets. They were sent to warn Israel of their sins, to admonish them to repent and turn to righteousness or judgment would come. After the sentence of judgment was described, the path of repentance and restoration was given as hope that even in judgment and exile, His people can and will be saved (Jeremiah 3:12-22; 4:1-4; 23:3-8; 29:12-14; 30:11; 31:20; 33:26; Isaiah 10:21-27; 14:24-25; 44:22; 52:7-15; Ezekiel 20:32-44; 33:11; Hosea 6:1; 14:1-3; Joel 2:18-22; Amos 9:7-15; Micah 7:18-20; Zephaniah 3:1-20; Zechariah 8:9-23).

Clinton is from a surname which was originally from an Old English place name meaning ‘settlement on the River Glyme.’ The River Glyme is a river in Oxfordshire, England. It is a tributary of the River Evenlode. The river’s name is derived from the Brythonic word meaning ‘bright stream.’

A ‘bright stream’ describes the Hebrew concept of ‘breaking up your fallow ground.’  The Hebrew word for light ניר ‘niyr’ is literally a picture of a farmer breaking up fallow ground which reveals the water beneath that reflects the light of the sun. The prophets speak of this breaking up of the fallow ground as the unrepentant heart of carnal man being broken in order for His Word to be implanted within (Jeremiah 4:1-7; Hosea 10:9-15). This is a description of circumcision of the heart and being born again (Deuteronomy 10:16; 30:6, Jeremiah 31:33; 32:39-40; Ezekiel 11:19-20; Romans 2:28-29; Colossians 2:11-13; John 3:3-5; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 3:9; James 1:18-21; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:10-11; Galatians 6:15-16; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Bill Clinton’s Presidency pictures the time period of the Kings and Prophets of Israel. The message that went forth from the prophets of judgment if the people would not repent and restoration if repentance would come after the judgment. Herein lies the character of Bill Clinton. He is a self described sinner that proclaims the grace of God as the only way of overcoming this state. Throughout his life, Clinton seems to always ‘bounce back’ from mistakes and adversity. He gained the nickname ‘Comeback Kid’ as a result of this seemingly uncanny ability of being able to rise up after falling down. He came from a lowly estate to great heights only to fall and rise over and over again. This theme of falling and rising again would continue throughout his life. This is the story of Israel (Psalm 106:1-48).

Bill Clinton’s Presidency depicts the days of the Kings and Prophets of Israel. Israel returned to the idolatrous ways which they walked during the time of the Judges. The Prophets were sent to warn them of punishment but also give the hope of restoration through repentance. Israel would going into exile into Assyria and later Babylon but the promise of the redemption was given where Israel would return to the Promised land in preparation for the appearing of the Sun of Righteousness.

The name meanings of Clinton and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Israel’s iniquities had separated them from God, preventing them from knowing the way of peace. There was no man who could save them so the Lord saved them by Himself, redeeming them from transgression through His covenant. Israel desired peace but would not walk in His ways in order to attain it. Hence, a stranger entered into their territory and took them hostage. God sent His prophets to warn the people of judgment but also of the path of repentance and restoration through breaking up their fallow ground, circumcising their hearts. Nebuchadnezzar, pictured by Daniel as the head of gold and the lion with eagle’s wings, was sent to bring Israel into the yoke of slavery in the land of Babylon. Israel had waxed fat and went astray which led to wars with their neighbors and ultimately exile into the nations. They were sent into new lands because they rejected their calling as kings and priests to those nations. The prophets sent the message of returning to the law of Moses to the camp of God and the promise of the Sun of Righteousness who would arise with healing in His wings. Israel turned away from faith in God but was promised redemption through the One who holds the key of David. Though the lion had entered the flock, yet the Good Shepherd would redeem His sheep. They would be planted again in the height of His mountain. The beloved camp of God would be regathered by His mighty power.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Bill Clinton 1993-2001

Vice President Al Gore 1993-2001

House Speaker Tom Foley 1991-1995

House Speaker Newt Gingrich 1995-1999

House Speaker Dennis Hastert 1999-2007

White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta 1994-1997

White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles 1997-1998

White House Chief of Staff John Podesta 1998-2001

Clinton’s Presidency was a portrayal of his nickname the ‘Comeback Kid.’ Throughout his life, he would make many mistakes but inevitably always bounce back. His life displays the state of Israel during the period of the kings. They had turned away from God but the promise of redemption was given and guaranteed to be fulfilled.

George W. Bush 2001-2009
George W. Bush 2001-2009

George W. Bush‘s name meaning is speaking of the Vine of Israel being replanted in the Promised land during the second Temple period where they returned to walking in the ways of the Lord, at least in part. Israel allowed religion to become more important than the Word of God and so fell into the same shame of their forefathers.

George comes from the Greek word γεωργος ‘georgos’ which means a farmer or an earthworker. This points to the days of the Vine of Israel being replanted in the Promised Land (Isaiah 60:21; 61:3; Jeremiah 24:6; 31:28; 32:41; 42:10; Psalm 80:14-19).

Walker is an English surname which referred to the medieval occupation of a walker, also known as a fuller.  Walkers would tread on wet, unprocessed wool in order to clean and thicken it.  The word ultimately derives from Old English ‘wealcan’ which means to walk. Israel returned to the walk of David, desiring to walk in the light of the Lord, His Word (1 Kings 3:14; Deuteronomy 5:33; 8:6; 10:12; 11:22; 19:9; Isaiah 2:3-5; Jeremiah 7:23; Hosea 14:9; Zechariah 1:4-6; 3:7; Ezra 9:7-14; Nehemiah 9:26-38; 13:18).

Bush is an from an Old English word ‘busc’ which means a bush.  As mentioned previously, in Hebrew בוש ‘bush’ means shame and is the origin of the English word for bush.  A bush is used to mark one’s land as well as hide one’s home for privacy. Israel bore their shame and was judged with exile, but the promise of redemption was given that they might return to their land. This return is associated with the nations being judged and their shame being discovered (Ezekiel 36:6-38; Isaiah 61:7). This occurred during the days of the Maccabees.

Here we see in Bush’s name the regathering of Israel to the Promised land in repentance. Israel returned to walking in the law of God and rebuilt the Temple. However, Israel did not stay true to the law of the Lord. They allowed religion to become an idol and so fell back into the shame of their forefathers (Matthew 23:32).

George W. Bush’s Presidency pictures the time period of the second Temple. A time in which Israel returned to the land of promise after being exiled in Babylon. A time in which scribes and rabbis rose to power amongst the people, leading them to a zealousness for the law of God. This zealousness however, was not always tempered with faith and so John the Baptist was sent to prepare the way for the Messiah, teaching the people the true meaning and intent of the law (Romans 10:2-13).

The presidency of George W. Bush is speaking of the days of the Second Temple. The battles of the Maccabees unto the days of Herod when John the Baptist was sent to Israel to prepare the way for the Lord. Israel zealously desired to walk in the law of God but in their zealousness built up a religious system which perverted the true meaning of His Word. John the Baptist would be sent with the true meaning of the law, preparing the people to meet their Lord.

The name meanings of Bush and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

The Vine of Israel is replanted in the Promised land after their exile in Babylon. They zealously returned to walk in the Light of the Lord, His Word. However, in their zealousness they allowed their religion to become an idol which becamse a stumbling block for them. During these days the Maccabees bravely fought against the foreign invasion of the Greeks but later lost dominion to the Romans. Israel was brought low and lived under foreign dominion throughout the days of the Second Temple, but still hoped for the coming of their promised King sent from God. During these days Israel sought to walk in the law of the Lord but had went astray its true meaning. John the Baptist would be sent with the true message of the law, to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord. He was a voice crying in the wilderness, baptizing and purifying Israel to meet their King. The promised King who humbled Himself to come down to earth bringing the grace of God. Israel would meet the salvation of God, His Holy Arm. The One who would be given a name above every name. The Good Shepherd who would restore His flock to Himself and cover them in His garments of salvation. Jesus Christ the Lord, who would come to His temple cleansing the land of the leaven of the religious leaders of that day.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President George W. Bush 2001-2009

Vice President Dick Cheney 2001-2009

House Speaker Dennis Hastert 1999-2007

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi 2007-2011

Associate Justice John Paul Stevens 2005

Chief Justice John G. Roberts 2005-

White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card 2001-2006

White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten 2006-2009

Bush’s two terms as President depict the time period of the Second Temple. His Presidency was defined by the War on Terror which points to the time of the Maccabees and their battles against the Greeks where Israel zealously returned to God. The centralization of the government and the controversial legislation as a result of the War on Terror points to the corrupted leadership of Israel during the second temple period. In their zealousness to serve God, they lost sight of the true meaning and intent of His Word which paved the way for John the Baptist to come on the scene preparing the way for the Lord.

Barack Obama 2009-
Barack Obama 2009-

Barack Obama‘s name meaning is speaking of the Messiah who comes to earth to bear the sins of mankind, and then is exalted to the Right Hand of the Father.

Barack comes from the Hebrew word ברך ‘barack’ which means blessing. This is pointing to Jesus, the Blessed One (1 Timothy 6:15; Mark 14:61).

Hussein comes from the Arabic حسين ‘Husayn’ which is a diminutive of ‘Hasan.’  حسن ‘Hasan’ means handsome from the Arabic حسن ‘hasuna’ which means to be beautiful or good. This too is pointing to Jesus, the Beautiful One (Song of Songs 6:3-4; Isaiah 4:2; 33:17; Zechariah 9:17; John 1:14; Romans 10:15-16; 2 Peter 1:16).

Obama is of African origin and means to be crooked or bent.  It traces back to a Luo word ‘bam’ which means crooked or bent down with the prefix ‘O’ which means he.  He is bent down.

In Hebrew the word בם ‘bam’ is speaking of something lifted up.  He is bent down and then lifted up. This is pointing to Jesus who humbled Himself to come to earth, suffering death for the sins of mankind. In this He became highly exalted and given a name above every name.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Barack Obama’s election to the Presidency portrays the coming of the Messiah. Obama rose to prominence through his message of hope and change which resonated in the hearts of the people as they had grown jaded towards the government as a result of years of corruption. So too, when the Messiah came on the scene, the people of Israel were ready for a change as a result of the corruption of the religious leaders of their days (Matthew 23:4; Acts 15:10).

However, while there have been some changes from the previous administration, for the most part, America is still headed in the same general direction. This too corresponds with the aforementioned time period in the Bible. Although the Messiah had come to earth, the political power of the nation was still in the hands of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Barack Obama’s Presidency depicts the days of Messiah, the One who came with the message of love, hope and change. He taught and healed the masses amidst the corrupt power structure of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, to regather all men unto Himself. He laid the foundation of His church, and before ascending back to Heaven gives them charge to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

The name meanings of Obama and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such:

Jesus, the Blessed, beautiful One, descends from heaven to take upon the sins of humanity in His death, then resurrects and ascends to the Right Hand of the Father. Through His death, He gathers mankind back to God and declares His name. He is the Good Shepherd who gives His life to gather together His flock, both Jews and Gentiles. John the Baptist was sent with the true message of the law, to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord. He was a voice crying in the wilderness, baptizing and purifying Israel to meet their King. Israel was prepared to receive the grace and truth of God through Jesus, the Son of Man. He is the foundation of the church, the Israel of God. The Exalted One, came from heaven to earth to give victory to Israel. He is the Olive Tree of Israel, Immanuel, God with us. He is the stone cut without hands sent from heaven to the earth to bring about God’s kingdom, sitting upon the throne of David. He is the Helmet of Salvation who delivers mankind so that they may be joined unto His assembly and proclaim, ‘who is like thee O God.’ Jesus is the Seed of the woman who defeats the seed of the serpent. The serpent pierced His feet and hands but in doing so had his head crushed. Through His offering as the Lamb of God, Jesus became the victorious Lion of the Tribe of Judah.

The above ‘story’ comes from the following names:

President Barack Obama 2009-

Vice President Joe Biden 2009-

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi 2007-2011

House Speaker John Boehner 2011-

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel 2009-2010

White House Chief of Staff Pete Rouse 2010-2011

White House Chief of Staff William Daley 2010-2012

White House Chief of Staff Jacob Lew 2012

Obama’s election to the Presidency portrays the coming of the Messiah. He rose to prominence through his message of hope and change which resonated in the hearts of the people as they had grown jaded towards the government as a result of years of corruption. So too, when the Messiah came on the scene, the people of Israel were ready for a change as a result of the corruption of the religious leaders of their days. However, Obama’s message of hope and change has not significantly changed Washington. So too, although the Messiah had come on the scene, the political power of Israel was still in the hands of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

This brings us to the current days, the time period in the Bible of the Gospels.  I have looked up the name meanings of the Vice Presidents and they fit perfectly into this storyline that the Most High is giving man through the meanings of the names of the leaders of this country.  Furthermore, the names of the Speakers of the House, Chief Justices, President Pro Tempores and Majority Leaders fit precisely into this storyline as well!

All 3 branches point to the Word…

Isa 33:22  For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

The above information is the basis for the “Presidents Code” which goes into much more detail on how American history is a parable of the Word of God.  For more information see:

The Presidents Code
The Presidents Code
