Daily Tidbits 3/22 – Tequfah & the Mark

The Hebrew word תקופה ‘tequfah’ comes from the root קף ‘qaf’ which literally means the ‘sun speaks.’  What is the message?  The Gospel.

The are multiple words for time in Hebrew, the most used is עת ‘et’ which pictographically means to ‘see the cross’, and in ancient Hebrew thinking meant to ‘see the mark.’  What is this ‘mark’?  It is the sun setting (death) and rising (resurrection) above the horizon.

עת ‘et’ corresponds to the Greek word καιρός ‘kairos’ through comparing Daniel 7:25 & Revelation 12:6, 14.

In the Septuagint, καιρός ‘kairos’ is used to translate numerous words but one of which is very interesting, the word תר ‘tor’ due to its relation to the concept of ‘the mark.’

From this root we get תאר ta’ar and תואר  to’ar.  These words mean form, outline or border.

תואר ‘toar’ is from the same root תר ‘tor’ as תורה ‘torah.’

Constellations – signs/marks

Gen 1:14  And God said, Let luminaries be in the expanse of the heavens, to divide between the day and the night. And let them be for signs {אות ‘oht’} and for seasons, and for days and years.

The signs of the heavens are a mark/reminder of the covenant with His people.

Jer 33:25  So says Jehovah, If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of the heavens and earth,
Jer 33:26  then I also will reject the seed of Jacob, and My servant David, not to take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will bring back their captivity and have pity on them.

It is God that created the constellations

Job 26:13  By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
Job 38:31  Can you bind the bands of the Pleiades, or loosen the cords of Orion?
Job 38:32
Can you bring out the constellations in their season; or can you guide the Bear with its sons?
Job 38:33  Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

He has numbered & named the stars

Isa 40:26  Lift up your eyes on high and look: Who has created these? Who brings out their host by number? By greatness of vigor, and might of power, He calls them all by names; not one is lacking.

Psa 147:4  He appoints the number {מספר ‘mispar’} of the stars; He calls to them all by names.

The Hebrew word for number here is מספר ‘mispar’ from the root ספר ‘saphar’ which means a record/scroll.  Brown Driver Briggs Hebrew dictionary defines מספר ‘mispar’ as a number or tale.  A tale is an account telling a story.  This is what the number of the stars does.  It tells the story of the Gospel.

Rom 10:17  Then faith is of hearing, and hearing through the Word of God.
Rom 10:18  But I say, Did they not hear? Yes, rather, “into all the earth their voice went out, and to the ends of the world their words.”

In Romans 10, Paul is referring back to Psalm 19 which is speaking of the path of the sun and its orbit {תקופה ‘tequfah’}.

Psa 19:1  To the chief musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens are recounting the glory of God, and the expanse proclaiming His handiwork.
Psa 19:2  Day by day they pour forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
Psa 19:3  There is no speech, nor are there words where their voice is not heard.
Psa 19:4  Their measuring line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world; in them He has set up a dwelling-place for the sun,
Psa 19:5  and he comes forth like a bridegroom from his canopy. He rejoices like a hero to run a race;
Psa 19:6  his going forth from the end of the heavens, and his orbit to their ends; and nothing is hidden from his heat.

Time is linked to the sun.

The Hebrew words used in reference to time further reveal that time is linked to the movement of the heavenly bodies.

The word for hour is related to the sun

This comes from the root שע ‘sha’  ‘which is a picture of a shepherd watching over his flock.  שע ‘sha’ is also the root of the word ישועה ‘yeshuah’ which is the source of the name Jesus.

Perhaps this is why the sun god was portrayed with an ‘all seeing eye’ as well as being related to the triangle/pyramid, which is in the same shape as the ancient Hebrew letter ד ‘dalet’, which is the origin of the Greek letter Δ ‘delta.’  ד ‘dalet’ has the numerical value of 4 which relates to the 4th dimension of time, of which the sun is intimately connected.  Further connecting to the Messiah, the letter ד ‘dalet’ means a ‘door.’

Joh 10:7  Then Jesus again said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you that I am the door of the sheep.

The word for day is associated with the sun

The word for tomorrow is related to the sun

Another word relating time and the sun is  פעם ‘pa’am.’

How does the rhythmic beating of a drum relate to the sun?  The human heartbeat.

At sunrise the sky appears red

This word comes from דם ‘dam’ meaning blood.

דם ‘dam’ literally means waters from the door, as in the living waters that come forth from the Temple, or the living waters of blood that come forth from the heart.  The sun moving through the zodiac is also a picture of this.  Psalm 19 speaks of the sun following the path of the zodiac and coming forth from ‘his canopy’ representing the Temple.  A healthy heart pumps on average 72 times a minute, the sun moves a degree through the ecliptic every 72 years.  It seems that the beating of the human heart corresponds with the movement of the sun through the ecliptic.

Patterns in Nature

“The ‘circle’ traced by the earth’s axis around the north ecliptic pole is not smooth but wavy, as the moon’s gravitational pull causes the earth to ‘nod’ about once every 18 years (currently 18.6 years), a movement known as nutation. The circle therefore contains about 1440 waves, since 18 x 1440 = 25,920. Note that the average human heartbeat is equal to 72 beats a minute, and on average we breathe about 18 times a minute. 72 years (= 6+60+6 or 6×12) is said to be the ‘ideal’ lifespan of a human being, during which time the sun moves through one degree of the zodiac in the precessional cycle. A human breathes 72 times in 4 minutes, the time required for the earth to turn 1 degree on its axis. In 24 hours (86,400 seconds) we breathe 18 x 1440 = 25,920 times, equal to the number of years in the precessional cycle.”

According to the National Geographic’s ‘Incredible Human Machine’ it takes 72 muscles for man to speak.  The Hebrew word for time, עת ‘et,’ means to see the mark.  What is the mark?  It is when the sun rises directly east (קדם ‘qedem’ “sun of blood”) at the time of the תקופה ‘tequphah’ which literally means the ‘sun speaks.’

According to Ecclesiastes 1:5-6, the sun moves upon the wind/spirit again linking to the blood which flows through the human body and the living waters which flow forth from the throne of God.

Blood/DNA is further linked to the sun through the equinoxes (תקופות ‘tequfot’).  The word for ‘equinox’ in Hebrew is תקופה ‘tequfah.’  It literally means the mark of the sun.  At the Spring תקופה ‘tequfah’ the sun is at 23 degrees in the Tropic of Cancer.  At the Autumn תקופה ‘tequfah’  the sun is at 23 degrees in the Tropic of Capricorn.  23 +23 = 46.  46 is the number of chromosomes in the human body that stores our DNA.  The chromosome is also in the shape of a cross/ת ‘tav.’

Chromosomes are in the shape of an x or cross.  The male carries the X and Y chromosome, the female carries only the X.  The letter X is the Hebrew letter ת ‘tav’ which means a covenant or mark.  The letter Y is the Hebrew letter ו ‘vav.’  תו ‘tav’ is the Hebrew word for mark.

The path of the sun through the zodiac comes from the following Hebrew word:

According to the Revelation 22:1-2, the river of life that comes forth from the throne of God, is linked to 12 fruits of the tree of life.

The word for the constellations/zodiac in Hebrew is מזרות ‘mazzaroth’ which traces back to the Hebrew word נזו ‘nazar.’

What was on the crown of the High Priest?  The sacred name of God (Exodus 29:6; 39:30)  According to Josephus (Wars of the Jews Book 5 Chapter 5 Section 7) the sacred name consisted of 4 vowels which are pronounced with our breath.  The Hebrew word for ‘name,’ is שם ‘shem’ which means breath/wind.  It is the root for the word שמים ‘shamayim’ which means heaven.  שם ‘shem’ is also the root of the word שמש ‘shemesh’ which means the sun.  Every breath we take we are proclaiming His Name.  Each breath we take brings oxygen into our lungs which brings life to our blood and to our cells.

The Temple & the תקופה ‘tequfah’

…it is stated in Jack Finegan’s handbook of biblical chronology that when Solomon built the temple of God at Jerusalem that it was made specifically so that the sun would shine directly through the Eastern Gate on both the vernal and autumn equinoxes so that they could never get the calendar and Holy days incorrect.

Vernal Equinox

“The most significant ancient religious structure for the Jewish people (and later Christians as well), was Solomon’s temple at Jerusalem, oriented to the Equinox sunrise. Each Spring Equinox, at the time of the ancient agricultural festival of sowing, sunlight was allowed to enter the length of an open passage from the doorway of the temple over the high altar and into the Holy of Holies. It is noted that, “There is evidence … that the entrance of the sunlight on the morning of the Spring Equinox formed part of the ceremonial. The priest being in the Holy Place, the worshippers outside, with their backs to the sun, could see the high priest by the sunlight reflected from the jewels of his garment”.

The Eastern orientation of the Temple is further seen in the Holy Scriptures where Israel had turned their backs on the Temple and faced the East. This would mean that the Temple was facing East as well.

Eze 8:16 And he brought me into the inner court of the house of Jehovah. And, behold, at the opening of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty five men with their backs to the temple of Jehovah, and their faces eastward. And they bowed themselves eastward to the sun.

“Many of these legal documents include the required Egyptian civil year date. Double-dated documents including the Hebrew dates of the Elephantine Jews cover the period 471 to 402 BCE. This included evening to evening days and a New Year beginning in Nisan (Aviv) only after the Vernal Equinox. Almost all of the datable documents can be referred back to a Nisan (Aviv) beginning only after the Vernal Equinox each year.”
{New Testament Chronology – Kenneth F. Doig}

Corruption of the Biblical calendar

“Albert Churchward, in The Signs and Symbols of Primordial Man, sums up the influence of the zodiac upon religious symbolism in the following words: “The division here [is] in twelve parts, the twelve signs of the Zodiac, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve gates of heaven mentioned in Revelation, and twelve entrances or portals to be passed through in the Great Pyramid, before finally reaching the highest degree, and twelve Apostles in the Christian doctrines, and the twelve original and perfect points in Masonry.”

The ancients believed that the theory of man’s being made in the image of God was to be understood literally. They maintained that the universe was a great organism not unlike the human body, and that every phase and function of the Universal Body had a correspondence in man. The most precious Key to Wisdom that the priests communicated to the new initiates was what they termed the law of analogy. Therefore, to the ancients, the study of the stars was a sacred science, for they saw in the movements of the celestial bodies the ever-present activity of the Infinite Father.”  {Secret Teachings of All Ages – Manly P. Hall pg 151}

As seen above, the movement of the sun through the skies is like the figure eight.  This has been corrupted into the image of the oroboros.

Papyrus of Dama Heroub, Egypt, 21st Dynasty

“The zodiac as a tail-eating snake (Ouroboros) symbolizes the eternity of Time and the boundary of the universe. Below it, the double lion Routi (‘Yesterday and Tomorrow’), the agency of resurrection, supporting the newborn Sun God.”

The Milky Way

“The Milky Way Galaxy is the inspiration for the symbol of the Ouroboros. Myth refers to a serpent of light residing in the heavens. The Milky Way is this serpent, and viewed at galactic central point near Sagittarius, this serpent eats its own tail.”

The Milky Way is related to the path of the sun through the מזרות ‘mazzaroth’ mentioned above.

This word מזלה ‘mazalah’ is only used one time in Scripture and brings forth some interesting connections to the current study.  It is found in 2 Kings 23:5 where the account of Josiah destroying the corrupted religion of Israel is found.  The Torah of God had been found and when Josiah saw how far Israel had went astray he cut a covenant with God in repentance to turn back to Him and follow His Word.

2Ki 23:4  And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring out from the temple of Jehovah all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for Asherah, and for all the host of the heavens. And he burned them at the outside of Jerusalem, in the fields of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.
2Ki 23:5  And he caused to cease the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had given place to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places around Jerusalem, and those burning incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to constellations (מזלה ‘mazalah’), and to all the host of the heavens.
2Ki 23:6  And he brought out the sacred pole (אשרה ‘asherah’) from the house of Jehovah to the outside of Jerusalem, to the torrent Kidron, and burned it at the torrent Kidron, and ground it to powder, and threw the powder of it on the graves of the sons of the people. {Notice the thematic connections to the Golden calf incident in the wilderness…the mixture of the worship of the LORD with the mystery religions of the heathen}

The ‘sacred pole’ mentioned above brings forth another connection to the oroboros which is the symbol of the yin and yang.

Yin Yang – Oroboros connection

“In some versions of the Ouroboros, the body is half light and half dark, alluding in this way to the successive counterbalancing of opposing principles as illustrated in the Chinese Yin-Yang symbol for instance.”

The Yin Yang is linked to the calendar through the gnomen which can be used to find the תקופות ‘tequfot’.

The first month of the year on the Biblical Calendar is known as Abib

Exo 23:15 You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded you, at the set time of the month of Abib. For in it you came out from Egypt, and they shall not appear before Me empty.

Deu 16:1 Observe the month Abib, and perform the Passover to Jehovah your God. For in the month of Abib Jehovah your God brought you out of Egypt by night.

Here we see that אביב ‘abib’ means something new, which continues the next generation.

Aviv comes from root אב ‘av’:

Here again we see that the word אביב  ‘aviv’ is tracing back to something new or fresh and something that continues. This is connected to the calendar in that Spring is the new/fresh start of the year, continuing the cycle of the years anew, just as the word indicates. Interesting, the pictograph means a pole. In order to find the equinoxes in ancient times a pole was used.
